well she can try, but i think thats a bad tactic, and both would benefit with the frienship if it arrives the moment to support each one, its also better for the politics they both defend that get attached to them.
I think she was basically hoping they would ride until very close to the end and then he would eventually drop off and endorse her (and he is thinking the same) but that's looking increasingly unlikely that her campaign took a gamble. Really hoping it doesn't work out for her, but we'll see.

Ok so Warren, in... 1984, contributed to a cookbook with her cousin using recipes that weren't her own?

This is the cookbook thing everyone has been talking about?

I want to make sure I'm fully understanding this since people seem to like bringing this subject up.
She listed herself as "Elizabeth Warren, Cherokee".

If you are going to post, at least post correct information please and not half truths to try and further your agenda, thank you.

Proof because it dosent actually show the cookbook image.. ( https://legalinsurrection.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Pow-Wow-Chow-Mexican-Oatmeal-Soup.jpg )

That “30 years ago” comment from Warren was cute but incredibly stupid to anybody who knows the political history of the candidates. I think people forget how short a time she’s held an elected office. Hell, Pete Buttigieg won an election before she ever did.
it’s also ridiculous because she was, as Nina Turner pointed out, pretty vocally republican back then.

Foreign influence in US elections through social media has been an issue for years. How could anyone read into replies on twitter at this point?

Of course it goes into the calculus, and your assertion that he's technically a centrist is still fucking bonkers.
It's not. Especially if we're going by the standards set by many folks who are ready to label anyone a centrist if they don't align perfectly with their personal vision of progressivism.

Sanders has a terrible history on guns despite having many other fantastic policy positions and that's why I would say he's technically a centrist. There's nothing progressive about shielding gun manufacturers from culpability.

literally anything these candidates have done that's perceived as a "gaffe" to a large enough group will be a "massive distraction" if you piss your pants hard enough at the thought of it
Pretending to be a Native American for most of your career is extremely embarrassing and would destroy her campaign.

edit: not that it matters, because she 100% isn’t winning the primary.

Yes, I read that. That was a thing with her family where they said she/they was/were Cherokee even though the DNA test she did shows they very likely are not.

I feel like an idiot.

I thought this cookbook thing was like, new and relevant and not something from 36 years ago that wasn't just a complete rehash of the same shit.

Fool meyou can't get fooled again!

Then call him a centrist on gun issues instead of being unbelievably disingenuous about the whole thing?

Bloomberg on Colbert is just painful to watch.
Oh my god these stop and frisk answers...
Bloomberg: We tried it and murders were reduced, but I was convinced to try not doing stop and frisk. So we tried that and the murder rate didn’t go up, so I made a mistake. Sometimes you need to apologize (he’s not actually apologizing here, but whatever). We reduced our stop and frisk policy by 95%!
Colbert: So you admit it was a mistake, but also claim that it reduced murders, but that getting rid of it didn’t raise the murder rate? So what reduced the murder rate?
Bloomberg: ......

like genuinely I'm not sure how the fuck you square "Bernie has demonstrated he can spin being a socialist into a positive" with "actually Trump will destroy her on Pocahontas" when only one of these candidates even briefly flirted with first place

this explains why she briefly polled in [checks notes] first place [checks notes again] following, as in after, the news breaking that she "pretended to be a Native American for most of her career"
A primary is a different than a general election in which Trump is your direct opponent. I think the media has in general been very generous in not bringing it up, but she’ll have to answer for it in a serious way when her opponent doesn’t care to ignore it.

Anyway, as I said, she’s not winning the primary so it doesn’t matter!

That "only Amy and I beat an incumbent Republican on this stage" thing was just bizarre and also demonstrably false. It's not exactly Bernie's fault no Republican could challenge him in an election after 1990 in Vermont lmao.

hrm, yes, the guy who [checks notes] wants to tax the shit out of TV media anchors and their bosses and shit talks them at every possible opportunity will somehow not have to "answer for it in a serious way" on the off chance that he somehow gets past The Sentient 1981 Trans Am

CNN: Sanders being a socialist will hurt your chances of winning.

Sanders: I have proven that to be false in Vermont and if given the chance I will prove that it will be false come the general election.

It's right up there with "will you call for Twitter to ban Donald Trump's account"

When did Liz Warren stop claiming native ancestry? It was my understanding that she believed that she was Native American based on what her parents told her and she went through life believing?

I don’t see how that’s disimilar from dreamers who grow up thinking they’re American citizens until they had to do stuff like apply for drivers licenses or college etc.

There just wasn’t an obvious “check” for her to find out she had no native ancestry, like there is with citizenship for example. Or did she keep claiming she was Native American after finding out she really wasn’t?

If my take is all the way wrong someone correct me, but that was my understanding of the whole Cherokee ancestry situation.

If anything it was probably a lot harder to beat a New England Republican in Vermont in 1990 than Scott Brown in Massachusetts in 2012.

Can we talk about how weirdly petty Warren was acting about the 30 years thing? It seemed so strange to try and challenge Bernie on that one

Because it interfered with the (incorrect) point she was trying to make. Vermont was super Republican back then, she won in 2012. In Massachusetts, not exactly indicative of a dominate electoral history.

She didnt stop talking about her heritage 36 years ago and her campaign brought the cookbook up as evidence in 2012. Please at least acknowledge the facts.
Yea, the end of the story is her family are statistically likely to be as white as bleach and probably had a family "story" that got passed on to the point where nobody questioned it. This culminated in her taking a DNA test and self owning herself with the statistically reality that she's not likely to be native.

The guy? Are you talking about Sanders or Warren? You should check your notes again.
my notes are telling me it's moronic to claim that the Native American "issue", thus far literally only seen in large numbers among the people with brain worms that still voted for the Republican Party in 2018, is singularly capable of sinking her campaign in ways that cannot be applied to some other candidate's defining flaw

and he still beat her, damn; electoralism stomping vacuous idpol-checkers shit into the dirt really does need an equivalent theme song to the Always Sunny theme
if nothing else, seems to be a very consistent theme from you tonight
