It's too close to Iowa and Warren is too far behind for them to be friends right now. The timing of all this is no accident.
attack/fight lowers the number not only of the attacked one but the attacker, in this scenario of more than 2 competing its dumb because the numbers can only lower for both and reverts positively to the third option.

I still think Bernie probably told her that sexism might keep a woman from winning, which some of the anonymous sources have claimed, but since Bernie is so assertive that he didn't say anything at all, I'm starting to wonder if he just legitimately remembers the conversation differently than she does.

Sad to see their friendship seems to have taken a blow.
Also just interesting for such a moment that supposedly genuinely upsets her to conveniently get leaked as Bernie is emerging as a slight front runner in Iowa and she is falling, years and years after it happened and after a long allied relationship....On the heels of Bernie's guerrilla campaign to frame Warren as an "other" and part of the establishment.

Common sense tells me this is simply gloves off embelishment meant to meet unfairness with unfairness in a period of urgency, but who knows.

Honestly I think they'll both be over this shit after it blows over

Oh does his problematic right wing /center right history and relationship to the gun industry not go into the calculus now?

George Orwell would love to have a chat with you about gun control being central to left wing politics.

(I'm for the heavy regulation of firearm distribution.)

(And I'm kinda drunk and just stuck my thumb deep in my dog's ear.)
Not sure Orwell was about shielding gun manufacturers from culpability but I never met him in person, so.

So like, it could have just been the convo went:

Warren: Well, I'm thinking of running of president.
Bernie: That's going to be very hard, a lot of sexist voters out there.

And Warren felt this answer was like telling an obese person at a steak restaurant how BMI is correlated with heart disease.

You know, technically correct but kind of an asshole move in the context.

Or there could have been 1000 other versions of the convo since we weren't there.
I'm probably not alone but I read all of your posts in my head with Princess Carolyn's voice.

Warren really has few options here. Why not try the option you haven't tried yet - go after Bernie directly (indirectly)?

Again, it's too close to Iowa and her campaign is seeing those poll numbers.

I know Bernie has a tendency to lie until he absolutely cannot and then come clean, I know that Bernie also has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth and say shit like "you can't expect to be elected just because you're a woman" as he joins a diverse group of women running for president who announced long before him reducing them all to identity politics. Her entire early strategy was leaning on that disingenuous style of politicking by trying to tug heartstrings through manipulative personal stories. She a politician through and through, and I'm ok with that, but I don't confuse the campaign narrative with the woman.

I know these things, and I also know Warren says he said it, so I trust her over the man.

You mean the woman that has literally embellished her life story and has obscured her truth her entire political career? Again I like Warren, my favorite legislator by a long shot, but this false narrative of her as someone that is a straight shooter and not willing to embellish and play up untruths for perceived political capital is absurd.

That Bernie is the one not to be trusted by default. Nah.

Nothing inaccurate was said about the majority of Warrens support and where she draws it from. It was an extremely tame contrast. If that is what an "attack" is than good luck with trump.

I think Bernie and Warren had a simple disagreement on punditry and nobody should be going scorched Earth on this. Like, they stayed close friends and allies for two years after that meeting. Why was this shit leaked.

Yeah, I'm sure they are shocked Bernie supporters are doing what they do on social media...
yeah they're extremely shocked that Sanders supporters on Twitter are acting like how Sanders supporters on Twitter have acted for the last [checks notes] 5 years
So youre saying their plan was to get sanders supporters to flood her tweets with vitriolic comments over and over again?

giphy.gif

Why would they want that?

Bernie is actually a centrist mass murderer because he doesn't support the issues of banning cars, dramatically limiting the supply of alcohol, and promoting open borders. His policies will kill tens of thousands of people a year.

(This is technically correct but also true of almost all people in America, it's just a parody of the Socialist saying on Twitter that Buttigieg is a mass murderer for not supporting Single Payer because that will lead to more deaths)

Because Warren's campaign has failed to generate a movement with the same energy, passion, and hope as Sanders's, she saw this in her numbers, and she decided to smash the "in case of bad polls" glass and press the smear button. It's as simple as that.

Bruh, in no way is Bernie a centrist, like what? I know tensions are high right now between Warren and Bernie supporters, but use some common sense here and take a step back. Both of these candidates are as far left as you can get in a presidential candidate lol

Ok so Warren, in... 1984, contributed to a cookbook with her cousin using recipes that weren't her own?

This is the cookbook thing everyone has been talking about?

I want to make sure I'm fully understanding this since people seem to like bringing this subject up.

I suggest you watch his interview with the Breakfast club.
Thank you for linking it. As a follow up: just watched this (on 1.5x speed). First off, that was a fantastically conducted interview. I appreciated that Steyer bluntly called out the need for a national apology for slavery and its still-lingering effects, as well as more discrete things: zip codes determine access to schools, clean air, clean water, and food. All of that's unobjectionably true. The same goes for how Republicans will view the 2020 election as the last gasp of white America and that they will absolutely cheat and engage in voter suppression (which itself is another instance of civil rights abuses).

I have no idea if he's a credible voice on these issues, but his points resonated. Still not a viable presidential candidate for obvious reasons, but I appreciate the dialogue... and hope someone else can carry the conversation forward.

None of us here need to be concerned about whether Bernie or Warren is lying about what Bernie said to her in 2018.

People need to accept that their preferred candidate is possibly lying and move the fuck on.

Everyone will need the practice when Biden becomes the nominee.

That "30 years ago" comment from Warren was cute but incredibly stupid to anybody who knows the political history of the candidates. I think people forget how short a time she's held an elected office. Hell, Pete Buttigieg won an election before she ever did.

I adore Bernie and Warren, and they are really the only politicians I will actually beleive them when they express their view on an issue, but this whole situation is just hard for me to read. What I get from it is Bernie tried to tell her that running against Trump would be hard because of his ability to use sexism, and he did it to try and get her not to run because he was running again? It would explain why Warren is bitter about it. He wanted her to run in 2016, but when he made the leap he found that he might be able to pull it off?

Lol. It'll be a massive distraction and you're incredibly naive if you think Trump won't make it one.
literally anything these candidates have done that's perceived as a "gaffe" to a large enough group will be a "massive distraction" if you piss your pants hard enough at the thought of it

You warren supporters should be out there door knocking for her and stop wasting your time on this forum where people's minds are already made up. The amount of back and forth on this is mind boogling.

It doesn't matter if it's her or Sanders, as long as it's not Trump! Stop the infighting.

well she can try, but i think thats a bad tactic, and both would benefit with the frienship if it arrives the moment to support each one, its also better for the politics they both defend that get attached to them.

Steyer making alot of sense on CNN. He's one of my top picks now. His self made billionaire businessman pitch would work well against Trump and he has the money to spend against Trump

I don't have a weird obsession with trying to emotionally rationalize what is an inherently impossible profession to ever be morally perfect in. Which would require voters to be perfect judges of character, not the thermostatic emotional beings we are.

Politicians that stand up or do the right thing while in positions of power and demonstrate the capacity to do them well are where my loyalties lie. Therefore I have a respect for Warren and Sanders. Even though I know both are not models of moral righteousness in their political operations.

She also has consistently ran/polled worse than a generic democrat would in Massachusetts.
