People keep talking about One Piece decline, yet in Japan One Piece as a franchise is still big as ever. There had been maybe 3 One Piece permanent stores that opened in the last 3 years alone. also, you have to consider that One Piece hasn't lost readers as much as ppl make it out to be, yeah maybe it didn't gain new readers, but a big chunk of the decline of the physical manga readers transitioned into digital.

I had just heard that the One Piece tower had closed, so I just thought OP was declining, I mean it still sells almost 2 million volumes in the first month, right?

I do wonder if we will eventually see Kimetsu stores or JJK stores.

One Piece tower closed due to COVID. It was doing very well and they were preparing for many events, but then COVID hit so they decided to close. They just opened new permanent One Piece store a month ago in Kumamto (Oda's hometown). They have 7 permanent stores in Japan and they keep doing the pop up shops called Mugiwara store mini. The franchise as a whole is doing very well, and its an evergreen franchise at this point.

Nice numbers for Attack on Titan's last volume, nice to see it selling 1m+, hope One Piece manages to sell 1m+ first week in its final volume too.

As for Tokyo Revengers, after last week's slump, goes back to selling more! Yes! Hope it keeps selling.
I think with the help of its movie release it could potentially hit some weeks selling one million copies... And who knows, maybe the movie will propel it to even higher heights. It's probably unlikely, but maybe... Just maybe Tokyo Revengers could get 1st place if all stars align haha

If JJK keeps selling 300k per week of backlog x 22 (I think there are 22 weeks left of Oricon rank for 2021, right?) that would be around 6'600,000 Then there's volume 17, I think it will be released in September, which would be an easy extra 2million, so I think JJK's total for 2021 Oricon would be around 35 million
That is IF JJK keeps selling 300k per volume, which I doubt it will maintain 300k as sales have slowly but surely been diminishing for its backlog.

It still will surely surpass Kimetsu no Yaiba very soon, but what I am more interested is in the Tokyo Revengers vs Jujutsu Kaisen race.

So I think JJK will sell around 35 million (Between 33mill-35mill)

It's too early to tell what's going to happen, it totally depends on Tokyo Revengers's legs and the movie's possible boost, but I'd love to see a close race between JJK and Tokyo Revengers.

lol at Record of Ragnarok.. I guess a crappy adaptation means people will actually buy the manga, which is superior.

Tokyo Revengers keeps on selling and it was recently announced that its 22 volumes have 25 million in circulation, so a little bit more than 1 million per volume, I wonder if a huge chunk of it is just digital sales... Hopefully, with the upcoming movie it does get a 1 million sales week.

JJK just beats out the 2021 earnings of Demon Slayer to what equates to approximately $133 million dollars making it the top earning media franchise in Japan so far for 2021. I'm actually surprised AoT isn't higher considering the manga ending and the recent season of the anime being hugely popular.

Yeah it's really impressive.
But it's not the top earning franchise for the year anymore because the Infinity Train DVD/Blu-Ray released one week after the end of the semester (and has broken records). KnY will without a doubt take the #1 spot for the year, and it won't be close (especially if the JJK break last long enough that only one new volumes gets released before the end of the year)

Also important to note that the franchise yearly ranking starts and ends later than the other rankings (4 weeks later, so from mid/late December 2020 to mid/late June), so for example, Demon Slayer volume 23 does not have its first couple weeks included.

Yeah, this current JJK manga break is going to have some interesting implications later in the year.

Also, with KnY season 2 later this year, etc.

Unless there is a money making monster on a mobile game I'm unaware of I don't think any of the MHA games have done that well in 2021 to raise it over a dozen spots to overtake either JJK or DS. I'm not even sure what revenue is like for AC in Japan this year so I can't say.

Animal Crossing wouldn't beat 2020 KnY though. KnY was way bigger than it. Wasn't even close.
Taking the week 52 data (since that would be the cut-off point), it did 38.1B yen last year.
Add the 2.7B yen that Oricon tracked.
That's 40.8B yen.
KnY did 54.1B Yen on the 2020 oricon chart. And that's without the movie tickets that did 32.4B Yen up until the Oricon cut-off point.

Big unknown left is the merch. But Kimetsu also probably beats AC by a lot

and AC has way more merch than kimetsu, you are once again underestimating AC

Finally, with the movie Tokyo Revengers was bound to have some sort of increase. Even though it barely managed to sell a million.. it did get to a million!

Damn every big new anime is giving their mangas huge boosts these days. I mean I know that was the case to some extent in the past but it feels like series go from selling decently to great overnight.

To be fair, Tokyo Revengers's increase in sales this week is due to the live-action movie, not the anime
