[Jason Schreier] As of last Spring, Devs were extremely worried on the Starfield 11-11-22 release date (Next Cyberpunk was the term floated)

With really only concept art and little bits of lore with 6 months to go, I don't doubt they felt that way.
I'm glad that the silver lining to the Cyberpunk debacle was that big development/publishing houses are now terrified of the nuclear fallout of enforcing massive crunch to rush a product out of the gate in a horrid state. Not that ND has put out shoddy products, but as an industry example of horrendous crunch, notice how we still don't have an announcement or release date for TLoU2: Factions for example.
Since the opinion was captured last spring, it's a full year of development.
It's not like that's all they had.. that's what BGE does, reveal in June and release fall same year.
Bethesda games always have that Bethesda jank charm, regardless of polish.

If they were calling it the next Cyberpunk internally a 6 month delay isn't gonna do much. Delay it for at least a year, Bethesda absolutely cannot afford another flop and especially with new IP
Oh I'm sure. But Bethesda is known for really buggy launches and it seems like Starfield was going to be no exception so I really wouldn't blame them if they saw the need to delay it further.
I think the Fallout 76 launch demonstrated that they are at the end of good will around launching something shaky.
I think it's more to do with MS's backing and recent commitment to Xbox, that allows Bethesda to delay it.
There's a lot riding on this game in terms of Bethesda moving into "next-gen" as well as Microsoft turning dividends on the acquisition of the publisher. It makes complete sense to delay this game without hesitation if it means a more polished product in the end.
fo76 wasn't shaky, it was held together by bubblegum, it's not like it released in the same state as fo4 or skyrim lol

I'd be ok with 11/11/23 or 12/12/23 if that meant a well built product.
Sounds normal for a Bethesda game but 6 months ain't gonna do squat if it's that much of a mess.
Yeeeah. I don't see this coming out March or something if it was coming in "cyberpunk" hot. Shit is definitely holiday 23 now.
The first parties are usually much better at delaying games when needed
Yeah, I think it's either going to be Februar/March or they'll hold out until holiday 2023.
