What is the point, this dude has money thats impossible to spend. At what point do you just stop or redirect the income towards something else. I’m not even talking about giving it to people who need it either, like why doesn’t this freaking guy just go start his own country.

1 million seconds is around 12 days
1 billion seconds is around 32 years
121 billion seconds is around 3,900 years.

One grain of rice here is more than the median American household income.

This much obsession with someone else's money is not healthy in the long run and I say this with levels of brokeness that would amounts to negative rice.

I think Bezos is a good man. Guy's trying to make the world a better place, I don't think he's done anything nefarious. And I trust him way more than the government to do something good with his money (call me when the government will grant $10B for fixing climate).

Most of that is in the value of Amazon as a company, so not liquid in the slightest, right?
Correct, but he has sold off $1bn+ of his Amazon shares each year for the last few years, iirc, so it's not quite as illiquid as you'd expect these dollar amounts to be

No one man should have all that power.

Man if I had that much money I'd set my people up, shit I'd set up a lot of people and then I'd be Batman and just be hidden. No need for me to have all that money, I'd feel horrible. Man you wouldn't even SEE ME lol.

I mean, it's not that we're jealous of his money, but it's fair to question whether it is healthy for society that any one individual can amass this much money and consequently power.

'Bezos is a good man!' I cry as I piss into a bottle with a broken leg midshift in an Amazon warehouse.

People like Bezos have the same pack-rat mentality as someone who owns a hundred cats or whose house is filled with newspapers because they don't want to throw anything out. It's a sickness and we need to start talking about their wealth hoarding in the same way we do for any other object a person can't let go of no matter how inconsequential it ultimately is.

Besides taxing the shit out of the rich and corporations, how the fuck do we fix this?

They were spending more than $10b to fix climate, but people like Bezos lobbied and petitioned and got tax cuts that lead to budget cuts that afforded them billions so they can just hand off $10B when the government would've had way more than that allocated through its various agencies that possessed competent people who recognized the threat while assholes stuck their heads in their own asses.

tl;dr people like Bezos is why the government isn't granting $10 billion for climate change, and the end result is that people like Bezos are excessively wealthy.

I say this at someone who is okay with theoretical billionaires. The big problem is that we have too many billionaires and too many of them have too many billions at that.

Someone should do a vizualization of what the pile would look like once taxed.

Im sure he could do a representation of how it looks when the 1% and the rest of america gets taxed accordingly. Maybe do a pile per economic need.

Like the budget of the military, infrastructure, environment, education, ect. All with their different piles of rice.

It would probably take a few days/weeks to sort out though.

Or... just do a pie chart.
