Crime organizations and authoritarian governments do this frequently. This isn't some wacky monolithic conspiracy theory done by a shadowy cabal for vague, evil reasons.

Like, how is this more of a conspiracy theory than the inflitration of law institutions by white supremiststs? Or law enforcement officers getting off free after murdering people?

I don't want to get into pedantic and academic about the difference between a "conspiracy" and "conspiracy culture" or a "conspiracy theory." But this is an absolutely awful take.
Exactly.

Define "conspiracy theory"

Were talking about a child rapist with potential truckloads of dirt on a lot of powerful people, who just suddenly ended up dead in his jail cell. Shouldnt that actually be part of the discourse?

Assuming something's fishy happened is fine, but claiming that Hillary Clinton killed him or that the royal family killed him it is some make believe bullshit that doesn't have any evidence.

The Left
regardless of circumstance and how it happened, it's a complete fucking failure of the prison system that this shit is even possible. especially after an attempt so recently. fucking abhorrent state of things over there, that's the main takeaway.

If the prison system is what you focus on right now I don't know what to tell you.

Don't know how suicide watch worked at that particular prison, but isn't it usual practice that suicide watch only means they get checked every 15 minutes?

It's not like someone is watching that person 24/7. Whether they should be is another matter.

Our prisons are run so fucking badly. Guards are killing or poisoning people or letting inmates do whatever the fuck to each other.

A high profile guy who tried to commit suicide before and they don't have under surveillance 24/7. I hope the guards and warden face charges for incompetent and negligence.

Even assuming he actually committed suicide, dude was the highest profile case in the US. He should have been under surveillance 24/7. He had already attempted to kill himself. This is a failure by the prison system in every regard.

Occam's Razor says this was not a homicide but a mob-style suicide. As in, "We're giving you a choice and some 'me' time; go out on your own terms or Tony here chooses the terms for you."

As for the prison itself; guards have a horrible job and get paid shit; their silence was probably the smallest item on the coverup budget. Just because it's Epstein it's not like some super-special guards exist to be flown in to a killer beat and a slow-motion panning shot. The "amazing incompetence" everyone is freaking out over is a day that ends in y.

The victims better get justice here. Name the names of the co conspirators and throw all of them in prison.

There will be no justice. We are talking about a pedophile sex trafficking ring for elites. This was never going to trial. Ghislaine Maxwell was a recruiter she will feign ignorance on the johns. We will not get a single high profile name I guarantee it. Nevermind that we already know the people that flew on his Lolita express and went to his island.

It's not a conspiracy to say that the rich and powerful will pull any strings available to them to get away with the worst shit imaginable. That's just the nature of the ruling class.

Like, we already saw it happen with this case. Literally how we got here today was because of a government conspiracy perpetrated by Acosta and so so so many other members of law enforcement. We still haven't even scratched the surface of the malfeasance that went on with Epstein's 1st abortion of justice that was supposed to be his "conviction".

But anyways, the work continues. We're still going to see some names and data from that case be released, his accomplices are still out there, and following the money trail should hopefully continue even without him. The money laundering and sex trafficking go hand in hand.

Whoever was on duty needs to be charged with negligence and fired. This is absolutely ridiculous that they somehow managed to let him do this is after he already attempted once. Going further the feds better be looking at this for potential al murder

This is going to radicalize more people than 9/11 into believing conspiracy theories.
I hope the names that were named get prosecuted and failing that, we at least get to bring Gov. Richardson to center field of a baseball stadium where we can all toss shit at him and call him a pedophile.

Key point being "appropriate degree of suicide prevention" which few prisons have. There's no question whatsoever that people should be fired for this. Unfortunately we live in a country that has an unacceptably high successful suicide rate in jails so I'm not going to immediately fall on the conspiracy side without something more substantial than fucking Twitter flight log readers
You would think competent authorities would place him as a high value prisoner.

Do you think someone like El Chapo could commit suicide in a federal prison, especially after previously attempting?

A sex trafficker who has connection to Trump, Clinton and the British Royal Family committed suicide in his second attempt after yesterday's news?

Yeah, nothing suspicious at all.

I can see limiting discussion as to specific people being involved (Clinton, Trump, etc.) because that can easily devolve into a shouting match, but It will be a shame if all comments suggesting that there might be more to this than an unintentional mistake by security are banned.

Enough with the conspiracy theories. Stop this, and move on.

What conspiracy theories? If you're just referring to the specifically targeted posts then, yeah, that's fine, but you didn't mention that here so it's safe to assume you meant them all.

Because it seems like you're just expecting us to go "Oh well, what a bummer." and.. move on, as if this isn't massive news with insane implications that should be questioned by everyone possible as much as possible. What harm does questioning how Jeffrey Epstein of all people could so easily 'kill himself' create?

Ya'll need to read Michael Barkun's A Culture of Conspiracy or any of other dozens of academic books or articles written on the subject by scholars who study the difference between real life conspiracies and conspiracy theories for a living.

Because the hot takes equating this to Qanon or any monolithic conspiracy theory are embarrassing at best, and anti-intellectual at worst. I'm not saying it was a conspiracy, but a hit job, or paying a handful of people to look the other way in an incompetent messy way is not a "conspiracy theory" in the same sense that the" Deepstate controls everything and is trying to destroy white people through globalism and female protagonists" is a "conspiracy theory".

This wasn't some random prisoner, and he was already supposed to be on suicide watch. "In general jails are bad at preventing suicide" is not a convincing argument for this case
