Sanders is a socialist, how do you think that sells outside the coasts?

I see we're having our daily purity test early today.

The dude is from West Virginia. Is it really surprising to you that that state is not a hotbed of Bernie support?

So... what's your solution here?

Primary Manchin? Run some kind of magical liberal Democrat that will 100% lose in WV?

I'd rather have someone who votes Democrat 75% of the time than someone who votes Democrat 0% of the time, and in WV, Joe Manchin is the most liberal you're going to ever get. Even he's on borrowed time.

This means nothing. His job is to save stuff like obamacare when he is needed. Being in a red state he can say whatever he wants.

Exactly. This place can be so dumb sometimes. IT'S WEST FUCKING VIRGINIA. The state went like 70% Trump, Manchin only wins because he's been there forever and is well known. Put any other Democrat in his spot and they will lose to a Republican. Same with Sinema, they have to defend seats in right leaning states so they're not going to sign onto a self proclaimed socialist candidate, shocking.

I understand the liberal slant here but come on people, use some common sense.

The soonest Bernie fans accept that he's literally un electable and that Warren is the only realistic option for social reform the better.

Is it fair? No. But what difference does that make.

I'm not losing sleep over this. I care a lot more about his votes in the Senate.

Until Democrats have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, the superstitious and religious among us should be praying/burning candles/offering whispered sacrifices for Joe Manchin's health and continued survival. After him, West Virginia goes red.

Get real. The huge increase in the numbers of independent voters came from Republican voters who are sick of what Bush did. For professional politicans who couldn't keep up with the way that party was moving are no Democrats because the votes are there.

People like Manchin would be RINOs if they could feasibly join that party.

I agree that there are a significant amount of Democrats who would hedge their bets against a socialist but Manchin isn't one of them.

This. You can primary him all you want, but Trump won West Virginia by 40 points, so good luck. Manchin is actually quite adept at being a red state Democrat. He voted for Kavanaugh, but only after it was clear that he was going to have enough votes thanks to Suddenly Susan. He would never be the deciding vote. People can call that a slimy move, but the guy knows what he is doing.

Manchin says something that will help him get (re) elected. News at 11.

I'm a WVian. I know what it's like here. I honestly don't know what you guys expect.

If anything, he's showing what absolute rubes Republicans in my state are.

Basically. It's him or someone like him or a republican. Take someone that will vote with Dems 50% to 75% of the time over someone that votes with them 0% of the time. This is WV. No liberal or progressive is winning there. Even a more left moderate isn't going to work there. Like said even Manchin is on thin ice lately. As long as he protects the big things let him do what he has to do to keep that seat while he can. More energy needs to be put on winning other seats so things aren't dependent on his seat and vote the way they are.

Joe knows if Sanders is on the ticket he'll be out of a job, he's just throwing meat to his base.

The rust belt could use some socialism, but they are dumbasses who will always vote red.

The Rust Belt usually votes blue actually and was part of the Blue Wall until 2016. Trump won Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin by a combined 77k votes, and he was the first Republican to win in those states since the 80's. My state, Ohio is sadly trending red sadly, but did vote for Obama twice.

Bernie won every county in WV because the open primary allowed the republicans the opportunity to vote against Hillary Clinton.

A House member stupidly notates "present" on a political vote for the Amenian Genocide: "PRIMARY HERRRRR"

Blue dog Joe votes conservative an uncomfortable amount of times: "Hes necessary!"
