This is going too far guys.
We are going to war with creatures from the ground....that eat people! Turning them into new aliens....and Kait might be related to the Queen of these creatures.......but what matters in this story?

Again, representation is more important to many of us than most things in the game. It straight up makes most games an immediate buy for me.

I can't tell if you're arguing in good faith, but in case you actually need it explained to you, that was a loaded question meant to spark outrage if the answer was anything but "straight" that's why Dimaggio wen't ham on that guy, because Dimaggio knows what's up and that question needed to be met with that answer.
Simple solution, don't look for something that's not there. Problem solved. If the devs want you to know the characters sexuality they will, if they don't, they won't. End of story. I instantly put any game with a black lead on my WATCH list (death loops on it, plus concept sounds cool) but I wouldn't go to a Q&A for 343 asking "Hi, I just wanted to know WHY chief is white instead of black, please explain." Stop making something out of nothing.

This question does nothing to establish that it is being asked from a place of representation. If anything, it comes across as reducing that persons interest in Kait down to who she fucks.

In case there's any confusion, some of us talking about representation mattering are doing it in response to the people who say that this doesn't matter. The dude asking this question at the panel clearly doesn't actually care about representation.

But say Game X plays really well....but we have no indication of characters orientation. (like Kait, JD and Del)
Now say Game Y is horrible, utterly trash....but we know a number of characters orientation and it aligns with your preferences

I agree with you that representation matters, however, it seems like we are missing the KEY POINT of this thread... showing this dude ask a question obviously in bad faith about a character's sexual orientation. A better way would've been if the dude prefaced the question with "As a LGBT individual, I was interested in knowing if the main character represents any of that?" Something like that, but he was shit stirring.
