... And it basically restored my faith in humanity.

There is room for creativity and talent in Hollywood and it just showed.

I have seen this film two weeks ago, and it blew my mind, i think i have seen the best performance in over a decade, and i love how the film is basically a take on loneliness.

I know, there are a couple of threads already but humor me, mankind has good taste after all?

Loved the movie, happy for Joaquin especially. Nice to see some effort made to reimagine the character successfully. Hoping it reaches a billi.

You are aware that the Joker has been in a lot of Hollywood movies, right?

As long as it's a comic book film.

I jest, I'm happy for its success too. But, hopefully we can see such original and character focused blockbusters outside the hero comic genre.

Yes, we get it, the movie about the extremely famous comic book character made money. This is like the third thread today.

I mean I’m happy for it’s success too, but this thread seems redundant considering two other threads specifically touting it’s BO numbers in the last hour.

I don't get how people have their "minds blown" from this movie.

Like, legit puzzled.

"Creativity" aka basing a movie on a very long running comic book character IP, taking inspiration from many existing stories with that character, and making a movie that very. very generously "inspired" by Taxi Driver and King of Comedy (and somehow managing to misinterpret those movies anyway).

Talent, sure, Joaquin is very talented. But his talent has been recognized for a very long time now. Not sure if the directing/writing is at the same level.

So I guess I very fundamentally disagree with the OP.

Need to see this next week. Also not sure it's reviews on metacritic and rotten suggest it's merely decent?

After seeing this 3rd thread I began to wonder if there's some sort of prank happening today lol

I guess bits safe to assume we'll have another thread at $800m and $900m as those two are a lock.

i mean there’s a thread every time someone has a new fart of a thought about Star Wars or every time Kevin Feige takes a shit so it’s par for the course around here.

I'm genuinely happy you liked it, OP, but it's a character based on one of the most well known comic book villains.

If the film was essentially the same, but dropped all allusions to Joker and still made $700 mil purely on the film's storytelling ability, then I think I'd agree with you a little bit more.

edit: And if this is the best performance in a decade for you, I'm guessing you didn't watch The Master? There's a lot of overlap between Joaquin Phoenix's performance as Freddy Quell in that and his character in Joker, except that, well, The Master is a good film.

theres a larger issue at hand when your sense of happiness leans heavily on whether millionaires make more millions and if other people like you are happy for them.

the movie in of itself wasnt enough to warrant his happiness. No, it was the stuff that came after.

how many Movies needed to hit over $700 plus million until we feel joy?
