I agree. Even Final Fantasy VII is coming. So Persona 5 will come, eventually.
Who knows, maybe Nintendo talked with Atlus and asked if they'd like a rep in for making SMT 5 exclusive and this was who Atlus picked. Either way, Nintendo is down with it and I'm damn tired of hearing about these non-existant "rules"

I know the possibility of a new boss is probably very small, but what would be an appropriate boss for Joker's Classic Mode? I'm gonna be mad if we get Master and Crazy Hand for the DLC characters, too.

Persona 5 is still shit-hot in Asia with the anime epilogue coming out at the end of this month. Makes sense to me. Wouldn't be surprised to see P5P make its way to Switch next year, as well.

Any of the palace bosses would probably work except the ones that aren't family-friendly. Eligor is also a pretty iconic mid-boss that shows up in multiple smt games.

Yeah, surely they care about their profits and branding and what not more than message board fans do. I hope.
In any case, yeah, I think P5 is a lock on Switch now. Now we wait.

I haven't played Persona 5, is that an actual gameplay thing Joker can do? Because my first thought for a Persona character Final Smash would be summoning other party members for an All-Out Attack akin to Shulk's Final Smash.

All of you guys trying to bring some weird logic into this are hilarious. You can just say you don't care about Joker and move on.

Sometimes characters are just put in Smash because it'd be fun. Joker may not be the best SMT rep or the best nintendo all star rep or whatever, but a lot of people like him and Atlus are down so why not? Smash bros is about celebrating games. Not Nintendo games or gaming history or anything like that. GAMES.

I'm glad the team continues to have a pulse on the current gaming trends and impose their own artistic integrity on things instead of following a bunch of stale rules that lead to predictable and unexciting roster picks. I'm glad this team loves ALL games and are willing to work with any company that's willing to play ball to express that love.

Ah my bad. Why Jan specifically then? It'll probably get announced at Persona Super Live like always. This is something Atlus would be handling internally so it only makes sense. If P5 is coming to Switch it's definitely the re-release which will make its way to the PS4 too.

I still can't fucking believe it. Joker was my #1 dream character. Posted about that here multiple times. It was like a pie-in-the-sky kinda thing. And now it feels like Miyamoto or whoever chose the dlc characters flew up into the sky, got the pie and placed it at my feet on a silver platter and said "There you go. You're welcome." I must be asleep or something. Holy shit.
When the lights went out I thought "ah. Here comes the cheeky Nintendo thing. Guess it's time for Metroid (don't care much for Metroid)." Then the Phantom Thieves logo came on and I was absolutely bamboozled. My mind started racing with the possibilities what this could be for. "Weird to have an announcement at a US show and not one of their own jp steams" I thought. Is it some anime thing? P5 Crimson? PERSONA 5 ARENA?? Is it finally time???
Then Morgana mentioned something about getting invited and for a split second I considered THAT possibility, but that couldn't actually happen right? No way. It aint time for Smash yet. And then he held the letter up. A white, standard letter from the back, an invitation.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No fucking way!!! And then he turned that letter and I saw what I so deeply wished to see. The goddamn Smash logo. I jumped out of my fucking seat and screamed like a schoolgirl, probably an even higher pitch. Holy fucking shit. This has been the hypest Smash character announcement since Mega Man for me. I'm still reeling. I just can't fucking believe it.
I'm probably gonna wake up soon, right? This was too perfect.

That really seems like something they would do a this point, they know people want him and just wanna troll like the Mother 3 translation stuff lol.

Persona is more popular than Smt both in japan and WW. By putting Persona rep, it literally show that Nintendo put profit on selling their DLC first over representing title like SMT which have been staple on Nintendo platform for gods know how long.

Gone have the days where Smash actually promote games that actually is released on it platform or help promoting smaller games to be more popular. Nowadays it is just wanking toward popular IP for more profit.

Character looks cool. I was never interested in the school setting of the Persona serie but I night give it a try.

Can someone tell me if this game is a perfectionist nightmare ? Is it possible to 100 % or is there choices that make things missable ?

A good troll would be something like Dante picking up the Smash mail & throwing it away being like "Nah, not for me" then another Capcom rep like X/Protoman or Monster Hunter picks it up.

I have to take a moment to say, I'm loving seeing reactions like this one. I know some people are super negative and trying to bring things down, but then you read posts like this and it just puts a huge smile on your face.

the stage is absolutely gonna be the casino palace

it's flashy and iconic and the bit at the start of the game where you run across platforms over the rest of the casino would make perfect sense as a smash stage

To avoid spoilers as much as possible, each of the "capers" that the Phantom Thieves engage involves entering a dungeon representing someone's subconscious and "stealing their heart", basically taking action on a part of an awful person's psyche to force them into changing their ways.

Yeah as for my reaction to this I literally went numb and stayed numb for like 10 minutes. Joker in Smash was what i wanted. I had been joking about it for like a year now, joking because I never thought it would happen. To see it happen on that stage, my mind literally went numb. I'm still not sure I didn't just doze off while watching the show and this is not just all a dream lol.

Actually this would be really good choice as well.... damn I want to play P5 now, but I don't have 100+ hours to dedicate to a playthrough...

You can 100% the game, but it's really hard to do without a guide on your first playthrough. And using a guide kind of ruins the experience, IMHO. It's the sort of game that rewards not being a perfectionist, because part of the joy is the freedom to decide how you want to spend your time.

I love the fact that just the appearance of a little symbol can make a crowd of gamers lose their minds, Smash Bros. logo is so simple but just brings sooo much hype.
