If it's a good movie, is it really a "waste of time"?What's this theory that he isn't the real Joker? So what's the point of the film than it seems like a big waste of time if he isn't even the real Joker.

Travis Bickle joker
Good thing the joker isn't a super heroThere's a limit to how seriously I can take super hero shit and this trailer blew right passed it.
a movie can be a thing that is just a movie. There's a limit to how seriously I can take super hero shit and this trailer blew right passed it.
He's not a hero. And he's not super. He's a psychotic madman. Sadly, a character like him could fit into the real world. And yet he appears exclusively in super hero comics. Weird.
And don't give me that "Batman's not a super hero either" bullshit. For all intents and purposes, he's a super hero.
The Joker has never been portrayed with humanity. He has been designed as a manifestation of the Freudian "id" given no restrictions. THAT was the mistake. Giving him humanity makes his evil disturbing, the kind of thing that unsettles you because you know such a man can exist.
This trailer just amplifies the fact that trailers themselves are an art form.
Yes, that goes for everything though.Good ones at least, the majority of the trailers seem to follow the same editing rulebook of bad trailers.
I'd wait till it comes out before comparing it to Taxi Driver in any way. Taxi Driver is one of the greatest films of all time. Just because it aims for the same tone and themes doesn't mean it succeeds.Every generation thinks the same thing... because they are SO special and unique. See also Fight Club and Taxi Driver.

If only that "both sides of the same coin" thing had been discussed endlessly before now! Oh wait...The amusing thing is I can't tell if you're talking about Batman or Joker because they'd both qualify.

Regardless, Batman is a billionaire that fights crime. The Joker is far more possible and as he seems to be portrayed in this trailer would fit in with the other well known serial killers.
It looks like it could be something special. Definitely a mix of Taxi Driver and King of Comedy from the looks of it.
Figuring Joker kills the entire audience there somehow.
Before you go around calling this a "real film", I think you should go look at the writer/Directors IMDB page.
This all looks great so far, but try and keep your hype in check.
an adaptation can be its own thing. it doesn't need to be defined by its relation to something else, even its source material.
I mean... that's how a lot of real-life villains are born.watched it this morning and didnt know what to make of the trailer.
I just thought "I'm not sure how they're going to align this loser dude = super villian". He can barely function in society.
There's a limit to how seriously I can take super hero shit and this trailer blew right passed it.
Same. I am tired of Marvel movies, but there is such a rich plethora of characters and stories that can be told using the medium as inspiration that just has me hopeful for more more like this, Logan, and Spider-Verse.This looks excellent. Treating comic book movies as its own genre with specific formats, rules, etc is honestly something I feel is holding them back, and just making comic book inspired films that cover all sorts of genres and the entire spectrum of cinematography is the next step forward. I hope this succeeds in a way that allows more of these kind of endeavours in the future.
If they kill this Joker off? Then yes it's a waste of time, at least for me.
Oh holy shit, just browsed through the dude's movies. What the hell is this track record?Cool. Though I'm not so sure about Todd Phillips being a "brilliant writer/director" haha
Wow looks really good.
This is unconnected to the DC Universe stuff?
Please.
I loved the first Hangover, Old School, Starsky and Hutch, and War Dogs. So I should be good. Before you go around calling this a "real film", I think you should go look at the writer/Directors IMDB page.

legitimately had no idea Todd Philips had a hand in Borat until this post. maybe I was wrong about him. Before you go around calling this a "real film", I think you should go look at the writer/Directors IMDB page.
