Thanks to shadow_shogun for first posting the official NBC call at 4:07PM EST.
Thanks to Taka for the details in this OP.

Ossoff at age 33 will be the first millennial Senator, and the youngest since 1972 when Joe Biden set the record at age 29.

He will also be the first Jewish Senator from Georgia, and the first Jew elected to the Senate from the South since the 1880s.

An investigative journalist and filmmaker, Ossoff used to intern for the late Congressman John Lewis.

Earlier this morning, at around 1:49AM EST NBC News called the other Georgia race for Reverend Raphael Warnock.

Warnock himself made history as only the 11th black Senator in US History (the 7th to be elected), the first from Georgia, and the second elected in the South since Reconstruction (the other being Republican Tim Scott).

Warnock grew up in public housing as the eleventh of twelve children. His mother picked cotton.

He has been the senior pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church since 2005, where he holds the pulpit that once belonged to Martin Luther King Jr.

The Democratic sweep of these races will give them a 50-50 split in the Senate, with ties broken by Vice President Kamala Harris. The importance of this cannot be overstated.

Senate runoffs in Georgia will shape what Biden can achieve in the White House

Tuesday's races pit Republican David Perdue against Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler against Democrat Raphael Warnock.

It is still just a 0.4% gap. I thought they don't call race until the margin is wider.

Nah, they call races all the time where the candidate they're calling it for is currently trailing in the vote. They were just far more hesitant than usual with calling the final states during the 2020 presidential elections.

Great. Now that they have a trifecta, maybe Democrats will actually get something done in Congress this time before they lose it again in 2022/2024.

Welcome to the party AP.

I doubt it will happen but I'd love to see DC and PR become states. Republicans have shown us that they can't handle power.

They need to be completely and utterly crushed.

Bittersweet victory, seeing as it's confirmed just as the Capitol is getting looted by rioters. It does mean a bright future ahead of us though, once we're past the attempted coup.

Great news. This should be the best day ever and would be if not for the maga terrorist attack on the capitol.

Man, remember the election last night two years ago?

Dumb jokes aside, good.

Maybe things will look up once this ugliness is done.
