Yeah I don't get the drunk comments either. I know people like this. He's just super enthusiastic. His speech wasn't slurred either.

Ive seen this guy loads of times before and while he always is a bit on fire, this time its obvious that he had a few drinks before going up on scene.

Didn't seem drunk. Seems passionate. I loved it.

Everybody fuck up sometime!

I thought it was entertaining but also sad. Geoff obviously put a lot of heart and effort into the show and this guy didn't respect that. If we want the rest of the world to treat gaming as an artful form of media along the lines of music and film, we need less of this.

Eh I prefer 'passionate' types to put their passion into their games so his appearance with Geoff just made me think he was rude and unprofessional. You get invited on to promote your game - don't be an asshole. Passion is not a justification for being self absorbed and ill mannered. Now I where are my Slippers Jeeves? And pour me my Brandy.

We need more of this. It's the first shred of humanity to come out of anyone associated with EA in response to the loot box scandal. Everyone is beyond sick of the sterile, inhuman PR speak that might as well be coming out of a robot.

All forms of entertainment could use a bit more transparency and less formality when it comes to interacting with their customers.

He went a bit too far twice during his segment, but overall I thought this was great. Geoff‘s reactions were priceless.

We need less passion and candor to make gaming seen as artful by some invisible authority on art? Okay dude.

Geoff wants this show to be taken seriously. This guy didn't do him any favors.

If anybody thinks he was funny, you must be under 20 years-old.
I didn't find it very amusing, but to be honest, I watch the show just for the reveals, as I disagree with a lot of the winner picks due to disagreeing with a lot of the nominations. Couple that with having a pronounced aversion to commercial interruption, and leaves me wanting to just see the YT recaps.

Seemed to me like Geoff was uncomfortable and unsure about how to control the situation. I mean, after all, this isn't the Oscars, they wouldn't just put some loud orchestra over him and cut to something else (frankly, they should have). It was weirdly funny and unexpected at first, but it went on for far too long. Very unprofessional.

An asshole.

Self promoting, taking credit for himself, rude, insulting people for no reason, narcissistic, generally full of shit, unprofessional.

Imagine having to work with this guy, especially if you're a woman. Maybe I'm being overly judgemental over a brief impression, but it was not favorable.

If you thought it was amusing or cool you must be an edgy 14 yeat old.

FYI, being passionate is not an excuse for being rude and an asshole. Plenty of heartfelt passion was seen from other devs last night.

Pretty hilarious and it seems like either a response or setup to that leaked EA email.

It's okay every now and then for some random ass viral "fun allowed", without people losing their minds because a few minutes out of multiple hours went a bit off the rails.

Some people on the internet must be hilarious at parties. For anyone moaning about swearing, game trailers earlier dropping fuck bombs like candy.

Does anywhere have a good highlights overview of these awards? They were on at stupid o'clock in the UK so i went to bed instead but would like to see what they were about and what went on.

He was great, especially with Geoff getting more and more visibly pissed the more it went on.
This. It is always fun to have little anarchy. US peeps can be so damn boring with their "everything is always nice and fun" charade. I mean, Swedes are just the same usually, glad to see there's some people in Sweden with a passion.

And to be honest, Geoff has things going so well for him that he should be reminded to be humble ;) Memento Mori and all that.

He slurred because he's not English speaking. I think that is the reason why people think that he was drunk.

He's just passionate, like that one guy in the Switch release hulabaloo. He went completely off the script and messed up that translator. But he spoke Japanese so peeps just think that he was eccentric.

He was just having some fun don't know why this would be a big deal
For me, bits like this are what make the video games industry different from the others, we don't need to be super serious and fake in these awards like the Oscars, it's video games we're talking about, let's have some fun.

Definitely the worst moment of the whole #TGA. It was embarrassing.
Agreed, I don't know if hes just passionate, was drunk or high or something else but it was severely disrespectful to everyone else who works on that game as well as EA, Geoff, the show, and everyone else who was there to talk up and promote their own stuff. If you can't even control yourself for a single 2 minute segment then don't be the person talking up the game, send someone else. I lost a ton of interest in his game because of that stunt. It shouldn't be praised, Geoff looked massively pissed and for good reason and no one should be celebrating that, I've been a huge critic of this show in the past but this was the first time it really felt more professional then before and this guy brought it down so hard on an otherwise great show.

Yeah, this. Shows how very much insecure games people are. If you cannot have fun you might as well get into the casket and go six feet under. Life isn't serious.

Interesting with someone with a different take on it.

Every awards ceremony needs its of oddballs and controversy. He just added to the experience in my opinion.

I don't think Geoff is too bitter about it given his retweets. Hopefully EA aren't too angry at Josef either.

I dont think Geoff should be too upset, as it got a lot of people talking about VGA, and a lot of people enjoyed it. It may not have been professional, but it was amusing.

At first, it was funny.

Then, I felt bad for Geoff.

Then, it became annoying and arrogant.

In the end, he should have let the game speak for him because it looks wonderful.

Came across as pretty arrogant if you ask me. Saying 'There's no way in hell anybody will not like my game!!!!11111' is quite the statement. Bring it, let's see how good of a designer you are.

Also because he acted rather crazy and has longer, black hair.
Ok so he got drunk and said crappy things on stage, was from Europe and has long black hair so let’s say he’s Tommy Weisau. Sounds equally mature. I’m sure everyone did that for Joel McHale when he was similarly crass. Oh wait, no they didn’t.

Wait, how was he disrespectful to EA? He was freaking defending them.
Also don't see how he was disrespectful to everyone else working on the game? He was just making clear that this game was his vision and not affected by any AAA bullshit

I see people continue to pretend the awards show is super serious when its had some silly shit throughout the years that kind of took away from any standards of excellence it hopes to have.
