Why did I think it had some sort of relation to ancient Egypt?

I don't get this OP. What's my take supposed to be.

He's a writer.
He looks words up in dictionaries.
He says the word has a creepy double meaning.

Isn't he calling the word creepy?
He is, but I’m not talking bout that.

If a woman tells me, “I don’t like nubile,” I ain’t gonna reapond with, “well, I love it, because it actually means young and sexual, and also of marriageable age!”

Because... why? I’d just be like, “Eh, I like it because it’s an uncomfortable word with creepy origins.”

He's right. It's a super creepy word.

I read the "I love it" part in a sarcastic tone. I don't think he's saying he actually loves the word.

He's agreeing with her and saying why he thinks it's creepy, at the same time "liking" it, likely in that ironic writer's sort of way.

But seeing Joss' name just brings up uncomfortable memories about his downfall, and how he gets pissed off when people call Buffy campy.

Your Imagination
Came here expecting worse but he was just calling the word out for being creepy.

That said, if I were living in a world where people had certain opinions of me I would stay far away from any tweets/social media that might further paint me in a negative light.

It sure would help if the OP would share his thoughts himself instead of just dropping the tweet

Are we supposed to read that as he unironically likes the word, and is possibly a child molester? Because that isn't how that reads at all.

You are overthinking this

Now what is creepy is thousands of years of treating a young woman of marriageable age as a prize to be handed over as a treat to a suitable groom by her father. I think Joss Whedon was probably referring to this notion as well as his original observation, which is that the term has been adopted as a tag to signify "young and virginal", the forbidden fruit.

By the way, be careful when you search on this word, it seems to be used a lot in porn. DuckDuckGo is your friend.

I've assumed the word was always a synonym for "naive" because of all the context I've heard it from.

Boy have I been using the word wrong. And boy am I questioning those people who've used it.

Guessing the OP misunderstood his tweet. He likes it because it's double creepy.
Shhhsh. No time for reading comprehension. Time for outrage.
OP didn't do well in reading comprehension I take it.
Here's a lesson in reading comprehension and context for you

If a lady starts talking about how she doesn't like the word nubile, don't respond with how much you love how creepy it sounds and describing it in a creepy way, especially if you have a history of being creepy.

From the tweet:
So it’s awful sort of double! English language, keepin’ it creepy
Yes, he clearly loves the creepy and isn't being ironic in the slightest.
