I think we also need to step back and understand just how troubling this behavior is if she is lying. She has involved lawyers, a “security expert”, the Internet Archive, her employer, and apparently has reported her claims to the FBI. This is a lot of trouble to go to to protect a lie. It’s pretty incredible when you think about how all this could have been avoided by simply apologizing. It’s really the one thing that still makes me give her a small benefit of the doubt. It’s just boggling my mind that she would do all of this to cover up for something that could have easily been dealt with by being honest.
I agree with the rest of your comment but disagree that the extent to which she is taking this should give her any benefit of the doubt: "Look at all the crazy shit Trump is doing, maybe it's all because he really didn't collude with the Russians!" lol
It seems like the behavior of someone whose entire persona is fake, probably a sociopath...
Regarding "being honest": Yeah that seems to be the consensus here, be honest, apologize, say your views have changed over the last decade... Unless they haven't! Maybe she's still just as homophobic? Of course if she was smart, she would have just lied about
that, after all no one can know another person's true feelings. People on the far right do it all the time, "I'm not really a white nationalist" wink wink... I'm not advocating it but it would be a hell of a lot harder to disprove than lying about the Wayback Machine being hacked.
She’s claiming that someone hacked the Wayback Machine? Lol.
That’s on the level of Trump and inauguration crowd sizes.
It's on the level of Trump and... everything. A very Trumpian move. Trump can somewhat get away with it (at least so far) because he's rich and extremely powerful and his followers are complete fucking idiots who will believe anything.
But neither one seems to know when to stop digging.... getting the FBI involved, good lord lol
