Felony criminal charges have been approved by @CookCountySAO against Jussie Smollett for Disorderly Conduct / Filing a False Police Report. Detectives will make contact with his legal team to negotiate a reasonable surrender for his arrest.

Attorney statement:

UPDATE: Arrested and in CPD custody. After a press conference today, more is known.

I wrote this earlier in the thread, but updated it with the new information

- Jussie, an actor from Empire, gets this letter

- A week later around 2am he's reportedly assaulted by two white men. They hurled homophobic and racist slurs at him, beat him, tie a rope around his neck, pour bleach on him and tell him, 'This is MAGA Country'
- Police begin to investigate but can't find the attack on tape. They later find footage of two figures that they identify as persona of interest
- Jussie, a few days after the attack, appears on stage for a performance where he says that he, 'Fought the fuck back', and that he's now, 'The gay Tupac'
- Police manage to identify the two individuals as two brothers from Nigeria. They flew out to Nigeria after the attack but returned recently
- They raid their apartment and find various materials connected to the crime
- The brothers tell the police that Jussie paid them $3,500 to stage the attack
- Back to the brothers apartment, the police take magazines into possession as they say Jussie also staged the letter
- Police find that the brothers actually worked on the set of Empire
- Reportedly he was angry that the letter didn't garner a lot of attention
- Police order Jussie's arrest
- Police find that Jussie fabricated everything, including the letter, because he felt that wasn't getting paid enough
- He wrote the brothers a check for the $3,500
- He left the noose around his neck for 42 minutes as he walked around after the attack
- CPD superintendent says Jussie "took advantage of the pain and anger in racism to promote his career"

This shit only happens if there is enough evidence that he lied, and in that case, enjoy prison.

If he gets federal charges for the anthrax hoax along with these he's likely looking at about 18-24 months

You've gotta be a pretty sad or messed up person to try to take advantage of the darkest fears of modern society for a publicity stunt.

What he tried to do was sick on a lot of levels. Hopefully he can use his fall from grace to better himself.

Hopefully he gets jail time. He does have a hotshot lawyer (as of now), so that will no doubt help him.

What he did was not only dishonest, but extremely irresponsible. He deserves whatever punishment is coming his way.

The thing that stood out at the time was that two white guys would recognise this actor from the not well known Netflix show Empire.

Not only would they not watch something that has a predominantly black cast but the idea that Jussie is so recognisable from such a relatively small show seemed really far fetched to me.

In retrospect of course it was just him making shit up to appear to be a bigger star than he actually is... or ever will be now I guess.

Montreal
Fucked up his career at a young age.

The doucing of a liquid leaving no skin damage was the biggest red flag.

2nd was walking outside in sub-zero temperature and get recognized at night while in winter clothes
