#something something something...thunderous applause...something something Lucas.gif

The most frustrating part is that even if America burns to the ground as a result of all this, the conservatives will take the wrong lesson away from this and say, "This is all because we started giving marginalized communities more rights. See what happens when you dole out equality to inferiors? They ruin everything. We know better now. When the Nazis started attacking Europe, we should have joined the Axis, not fought against it, the Thousand Year Reich is the only idea that actually makes sense."

King Trump has spoken.

America is so embarrassing.

I'm studying US history at the moment and American has been that from the start. Sure, there have always been people fighting for a true equal society , but for the most part either the hateful took charge or a moderate came along and pretty much gave the hateful a light slap on the wrist in the name of keeping the peace.

The hate in this country is a cult. They have held their hateful beliefs for generations. They see Trump as a means to an end and as long as he helps their agenda they think he can do no wrong.

Isn't this the exact opposite of what he is meant to do? He is meant to recuse himself from these matters, for fucks sake. Straight up blatant corruption here. The DoJ is lost.

The most important issue in the country now is holding these people to account and restoring integrity to the Executive. Nothing less than a full accounting and punishment of all the people involved will be enough.

As an aside, we knew this was what Barr was like; everyone paying attention knew when he was nominated. He did it all under H.W. Bush. Preventing someone like Barr being AG is exactly what Senate Confirmation is there for, but of course, the Senate let down the country once again for partisan reasons.

So yeah it looks like yet another terrible idea is the AG being the personal lawyer of the president.

Item number #4820 on the list of "checks and balances" in the American system that are nothing more than pinky-swears to not be a dictator.

Crime pays.

Vote these bastards out.

I really hope there is good people who have kept a list of all crimes and people this admin has done and are waiting for a Dem sweep to drop the hammer.
It would be nice if crime was punished based on the law, not political parties, and didn't require voting for anything.

Is there a way to stop a pardon?

I'm not American (obviously), and I've always found 'the pardon' to be a strange and suspect instrument in the USA's plethora of strange and suspect instruments, but this one is kind of the swish army knife among them. That, and the death penalty.

We can vote Trump out, but it seems the DOJ is not subject to the same rules of play.

Barr will 110% announce and open an investigation into whoever the Dem candidate is within a couple of weeks of the election

Reality doesn't need yet another L. Thank you very much
Dems should have taken action against Barr a long, long, long time ago and haven't done anything so it will be the logical conclusion of them doing nothing about a wild William Barr. A month after Barr comes on board as AG, Mueller ends his investigation, Barr lies about the findings, and it's been a downward slope since.

Imagine winning the popular vote by millions even tens of millions and still losing because electoral college.

As you might know, the Electoral College was put in by a contingent of the Founders who didn't trust the will of the people to make the right choice. Its failure in 2016 to prevent -- or to put more aptly, instead enable -- a poor choice is part of the same degradation of our democratic institutions that we are seeing today. The institutional mechanisms the Founders designed are only as good as the people in them. James Madison wasn't exaggerating when he said to Elizabeth Powel, "It's a republic, if you can keep it." The people (and the press) act as a fourth major check against the government descending into tyranny and corruption, and due to a withering of our educational systems, gerrymandering by the GOP, and the intense propaganda campaign from Fox News for decades, this check is now severely crippled.

It remains to be seen how far Trump and his crime syndicate can dismantle our democracy before the people are willing to rise up en masse. If at all.

The scariest thing about Trump is thinking about how much more he could get away with if he wasn't addicted to Twitter.

More political payback against people who prosecuted Roger Stone:

President Donald Trump on Tuesday abruptly withdrew the nomination for Jessie Liu, the former US attorney who headed the office that oversaw Roger Stone's prosecution, to serve in a top Treasury Department position, three sources told CNN.

You have full and open corruption at the highest level of US government. What are you going to do America?
It's pretty much the last chance for Liberals to stop tweeting their frustrations about the system, Trump, or each other and actually vote to save their country.

I know it's not popular around here to suggest that they must support whoever the democratic candidate is, be it even Biden, Bloomberg, or Buttigieg, but at this point, if enough people don't find that preferable to the complete implosion of the rule of law that is currently happening.. maybe America does deserve to become an authoritarian state.

I'm still in shock at how successful the attempts at cultivating liberal infighting have been. Literally eating themselves alive. This is their trial, and I'm not sure things are so different from 2016.

There's only so much time to fix gerrymandering before they lose the ability to have any traction, and if it doesn't happen this go around.. welp.

People say the Dems need to fight dirty on par with the Republicans, well.... Dems need to win the White House, win the Senate, stack the fucking shit out of the courts top to bottom, pass voting legislation that makes it harder for Republicans to win (make it easier for more people to vote), tighten election security, go after gerrymandering and even the electoral college, and bring down the almighty hammer god on Trump and everyone in his authoritarian, criminal regime, including Barr. You don't send Joe fucking Biden in with his dopey shit-eating grin saying "Hey friends let's try to work this out".

This just keeps getting worse and worse. And it's going to continue unless extraordinary measures are taken.

It's going to take a lot. The ruling class has purposely kept everyone else too poor to rise up (if you miss work, you are fired, you can be fired for any reason in most states including political ones (at will states) and if you are fired your family loses health insurance and the ability to eat), 99% of us don't have shit in savings and are one lost paycheck from disaster, so we are literally too poor and unhealthy to protest. We are also too complacent, but the first factors are greater. It's not worth the risk.

How the fuck is half the USA not in the streets over this? I just hope there are still enough adults left somewhere in that joke of a government to stop shit from getting out of hand during the election.
