Justice League - Snyder Cut social media embargo lifted

Sounds like this is everything that fans of the DCEU have been asking for and waiting for. I am elated.

The people that weren't going to like it anyway are going to hate it, same with BvS UE and the rest of Snyder's work, which honestly is a fantastic thing. A film should never be something that caters to everyone, but should always be the best representation of the story the filmmaker wants to tell, which these day is a very rare occurrence for this industry. It's been an interesting and exciting experiment to watch unfold. And while I doubt this will be a smash hit for WB, I hope this encourages more studios and producers to have faith with in the creative visions is movie makers and storytellers of large releases like this. It doesn't always end well and with a profitable product, but I don't think I've seen anything that compares to a big budget film release that retains the accuracy ant integrity of a filmmaker's vision since Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 in 2017, and that was en even rarer occourance in that studio meddling and unfortunate circumstance didn't get in the way of it being released in a complete form. I'm really hoping we see that again with Dune later this October, because I believe there absolutely should be a space for large lengthy expensive films that cater to a niche.

And please don't confuse that to mean that I believe Snyder's work in the DCEU is high art, it's at best still a Super Hero movie that takes it's characters and audience a tiny bit more seriously then what we usually get for these sorts of movies, and at worst bloated and over-indulgent popcorn cinema.

That one about the first TWO HOURS being a drag is awesome. The movie equivalent of "Don't worry, the game really opens up after the first 30 hours".

After that other guy got banned for comparing DC fans to right wing, I was hoping that shit would stop. I guess not.

If Darkseid is in this and is not floating, but walking instead I’m going to be upset. I know it’s small, but it’s important IMO.

Wow, I knew I should never enter an OT Snyder related thread and just reading this last page, I was right smh.

I will just say these early impressions are usually postive so I'm going to keep my expectations in check. The real test is when the real reviews come.

"The first two hours are a drag "

" Good character development"

uh huh
Good character development is a consistent through line even among negative impressions with Cyborg’s arc being called out in particular.

also, it’ll be nice to get a version without the gratuitous ass shots and boob touching.

Don't agree with the first 2 hours being a drag at all. Third act is definitely the highlight though.

They are really smart to split it into 6 chapters though. Shit is perfect for streaming/episodic viewing.

Most of these opinions are worthless, can't really guage anything from them. Waiting for more objective take on the movie.

Does it have an intermission or pretty set break points? I might watch in halves over two days. Kinda superheroed out this month going through the 2 Snyder DC movies and watching a marvel flick with my girl

Kevin Smith really loved the movie; was gushing about it on Fatman Beyond podcast. They're gonna go on a deep dive discussion about it next episode.
I think he likes pretty much everything that he watches

"I saw Justice League twice already. I liked it. I liked it. There's stuff in it that I really dug, stuff that I was happy, I mean it's weird this is like, I'm not going to review the movie and stuff, but these are moments that f--- made my heart soar."
“So what did I think about it? I thought it was f***ing dope,” Smith exclaimed. “I think [director David Ayer] did a great job. I honestly think that. I used to be one of those cats that was like, ‘They should give comic book material to people that know comic books very well and stuff.’ David’s movie to me [showed that] you can give comic book material to people outside the medium, maybe didn’t grow up with this s**t in their blood or whatever, and it creates a real interesting effect.”

“I don’t want this to sound dismissive,” he continued. “It was dope man, it felt young, and I’m like mid-40…I felt like a kid watching this movie. Not just because ‘Oh my God, I love these characters. I’m seeing some of my favorite characters on the big screen,’ and stuff, it just felt young, it had this energy to it.”

I just remembered that this means we get another shot of JK Simmons as Jim Gordon and I got pumped.

And then, presumably, the next time we get the character will be Jeffrey Rush. Pretty awesome.

I love they guy, but I don't think there's ever been a superhero movie that he didn't think was incredible.
Kevin Smith loves every movie. You can only trust that it's good if he cries about it.

Yeah I'm definitely more interested in what Marc Bernardin is gonna think about it. He's currently rewatching the Snyderverse in prep for ZSJL, just finishing MOS for the first time since he saw it in theaters and enjoyed it more now than then. Curious to hear his thoughts on BVS:Ultimate which he's never seen and ZSJL.

Press was not told to offer "positive" posts today. We can say whatever we want. Here's mine from earlier. (I somehow missed that this thread existed!)

For anyone curious all the sexist/questionable bullshit in the Whedon cut is gone. Flash on top of WW, weird rising butt shots of WW etc. The lame "thirsty" joke.
Already an improvement.

Pretty happy to hear Cyborg is getting his character restored. After all the shit Ray has gone through, it will be good to see it up on the screen.

I'm not expecting good, but I'm expecting better than JL.

For almost every movie I've bothered to follow, these "social media reactions" have been worthless and overly positive. I dunno what exactly causes this effect, but I've learned not to trust the hype.

Not at all, but go off.
Dude's been raging against this movie for a long, long time. Right down to showing up in damn near every Ray Fisher topic to downplay what he was saying right up until Whedon got exposed.
I mean he hated BvS, so it's not like he just has a blanket love for the current DC films.
Yeah, but he has very little discernment while talking about movies (I don't know about his personal tastes, I don't know the man). He'll gush about any movie he doesn't hate, which makes it hard to tell whether a movie is actually that good or just alright. Unless he cries about it.

Yeah I'm gonna wait a week for reviews to get out of the shill/fanboy zone. I remember how BvS was the pinnacle of cape flicks on twitter but oh Martha was that wrong
