There's a reason why they call it #MeToo.
Not necessarily, it started as such, but it really encompasses everything else.
Yeah I understand, I'm very happy for those speaking up as it takes an incredible amount of courage and I'm proud of them. At the same time, it is sad that there a lot of scumbags out there doing shit like this without being called out.People are afraid to speak up, seeing other victims getting their voice out gives them the strength to open up about their own.
A lot of people who are abused by somebody above the social totem pole are afraid to speak out. The mental anguish afterwards is the one of the things that hurts people so much. There's a lot of complex things that go into something like this that is above my pay grade.
Abuse and harrassment happen every day of every week of every year
Cool to see people speaking up. Also, why all of these people call the offenders "legends/superstars" or some other superlative? Is this how these devs conduct/think of themselves? They're just regular people :|
Let's see if this Ken Wong has something to say, we should always hear both sides of the story.
I think it's to make it clear that they're influential people in the industry. Not just some faceless coder or what have you, but the people at the top. This industry, like every industry, is dominated by gross men with so many skeletons in their closets they're spilling out into Narnia and upsetting the fauns.Cool to see people speaking up. Devs are more often known by studio names or game names. I find it hard to believe many people haven't heard about Monument Valley one way or another. It's one of those "must have" mobile games that is always on toplists and whatever = "superstar" dev.Cool to see people speaking up. Yes. The reason it's called #MeToo is to highlight that the victims aren't alone.
I already paid for MV 1 and 2... I'll keep an eye on his future games if these allegations turn out to be true.
Gross industry men are getting their comeuppance. Some of them, anyway.
I kinda feel like we need a sticky thread to keep track of everything that is happening this week.
All that would do is further bury the names of these abusers.I kinda feel like we need a sticky thread to keep track of everything that is happening this week.
We do. People need to be able to easily make informed purchases (or not), and more importantly the victims voices should be signal boosted in one place rather than sporadically over 9 threads. There will be more.I kinda feel like we need a sticky thread to keep track of everything that is happening this week.
The sticky could just be a post with links to all the separate threads.Even if there was a sticky thread, each individual case deserves its own thread too

Oh I agree, I'm just saying that a sticky thread with the links of different individual threads would be helpful for those like myself that struggle to keep track of everything.
What's up with this week?! Holy fuck.
Edit: Also, instantly deleting MV from my phone. Fuck him.
This was the first thing I thought of when I read the title. Not a good association even if it is coincidental.
