Kevin Feige says it’s high time for a Southeast Asian superhero and you won’t have to wait very long

I think this statement by Feige really highlighted how many ethnicities are interested in getting an MCU Superhero that represents them and their culture.

Getting a Trinary played by Kangana would be fantastic. She could definitely pull off the role with style and panache...

Oh I understand where you are coming from now, Agree but Singaporen and Malaysian are still Singaporen and Malaysian regardless of their race/ethics man.
Seeing an international representation of my own country is exciting, but it would be more exciting to see them also representing my own ethnicity. I hope that's not too controversial of a take.

None at all.

I am just not comfortable with comments that a specific race is not part of their nationality because of their race.

We have enough of China trying to stir up issues in the region, no we are loyal to our own country and does not look to China as the motherland.

I don't think their point is that the Chinese ethnic group is not actually part of the country they're born in. Mine is certainly not and I'm sorry if it come off that way. It's just that it would be nice, personally, to actually have ethnic representation too.

But generally I'd be fine as long as they don't, like, have a Javanese character and cast a Korean actress to play her like that Harry Potter spinoff did.

It seems like US peeps have never even heard of Chakra the Invincible!? And I note that no one else here seems to even mention any Indian characters in this thread.

Which begs the question, as far as Americans are concerned, is there even a single significant Indian superhero in the entire Marvel Multiverse? Have there been any Indian Avengers, ever? India has over a billion people, surely, Marvel must have atleast one Indian superhero.

Aditya Roy Kapur was custom sculpted by the gods to play a Marvel Superhero, and it would be a damn shame if that never happens just because Marvel doesn't feel that a billion people are worth getting even a single representative on the Avengers team...

Hailee is part filipino so maybe she is the one he's talking about? Is Bishop filipino?

Not sure where you reside, but their has always been a bit of internal fighting when it comes to our representation in Hollywood. When that happens it's mostly from East Asians(Chinese, Koreans, Japanese). The rest of us also clamor for our chances and our stories to be told. So yeah I would be disappointed if the person casted ended up being an ethnic Chinese from SE Asia being chosen as the SE Asian rep. Not because I don't count them, but because the rest of us are under represented.

A somewhat similar issue is when Asian Americans get passed up for roles that ends up going to established stars from Asia. But it's not as difficult to get that message across compared to this where I get that some people may see my comment as problematic.
Basically how every Pakistani, Bengali or Sri Lankan feels when a character is Indian/has neutral Indian Subcontinent vibes but neither here nor there. Same applies to Arabs despite there being massive differences between them as well.

The Malaysian guy in Warriors of the Sky is sick looking. The Taiwanese character is pretty bad though. When are there books to be due...I'd rather read than play some mobile game.

Feige is not referring to Shang-Chi or Ms. Marvel. He wouldn't be mentioning unannounced Disney+ series if that were the case.

Nor do I think he's confusing SEA with South or East-Asia. Even if he somehow did, I'm pretty sure they'd add a SEA character to the board after this. Whether it's Wave, Karma, Komodo, Avenger X (she really needs a new alias...) or those mobile characters, we'll see a SEA hero as a headliner or as a member of a team in the future.
