Well, there are good news for fans of KLK and 2D fighting games, although they weren't supposed to leave the panel:
NieR, KLK, and Senran Kagura. Now that sure as hell would make for a good dlc pack after the initial wave is finished. I'm team "wait-for-pricedrop" right now, but those three would have me on board in an instant.

Assuming Direct Cringe
The costumes of Kill la Kill still bother me years later. Shame as everyone I know in my circle of friends who watched it loved it. but I just can't deal with the outfits the girls wear.

looks really good visually. here's hoping ASW gives the dev enough time to cook and make a well-rounded game. I imagine the LWA title was a rush job to tie in with the TV series hence its lack of quality. this shouldn't have the same problem, considering it's coming years after the show already finished

I have no real issue with arena fighters in concept, but it seems like anime games are always where bad arena fighters go to live.

Hopefully that Shinobi Strikers game is solid.

I would o3o....
Jokes aside this thread its basically 2 sides
1) “im exited for the game cuase I liked the anime”
2) “im not exited for the game cause I hated the anime”

They better include in Bancho Mako
Some of the anime was great
and then it goes full incest sex abuse for no fucking reason and expected people to not drop it, and it seems like people just forgot that happens multiple times.

It does look very good (it replicates the anime style well), but arena fighter...

If only it were a straight Action game. :(

You need to embrace the NUDISTO BEACH spirit o3o

Too complicated, anime games try to sell on the IP, and most are arena fighters cause is easy to make, put in lots of character and no need a for a solod story or world design

GGXrd/DBFZ style character models? Great!
GGXrd?DBFZ stye low frame-rate stilted animation? ...please stop. Don't make purposely cheap/rushed looking animation a trendy style.

Hell, I just remembered that the actual anime already did cheap, badly animated 3D action on occasion. Why do that again?

Yo this looks fucking gorgeous. Captured the anime's unique style perfectly. Honestly blows my mind that we can do this in games now.

mad as hell about the bad opinions on arena fighters in this thread in the year of New Virtual On 2018

But this game looks... early.

Nothing to really forget when the thing about clothes or lack thereof is a theme throughout the entire show. It wasn't out of place at all.

ArcSys are made geniuses with their anime 3D model tech.

Holy shit it's never been more real.

How Bandai/Namco can still bother to put out anime games when this exists is beyond me.

Youtube version, slightly better quality.

Considering it's meant to be an alternative telling of the story, I wonder how much they'll retell/cover. If it means maybe changing the 2nd half which was easily the weakest part of the series, I'd be up for it.

Also damn it, this looks rather good, but then I remember it's not ASW developing it, but the team who made that Little Witch Academia title, which I've heard.....not good things.
If they cut out the
lesbian incest sexual abuse/molestation that's presented as uncomfortably fan-servicey,
then I'm all for changing part of the 2nd half.

Gameplay looks stiff and sluggish. Animations feel like they just abruptly stop and are missing some frames. Granted, this looks like a very early trailer, so hopefully they can change my mind closer to release.

"if"
Why? Visuals look very nice, though.
Probably means a unique/alternate storyline from the original (see: Shin Megami Tensei If, or Fire Emblem If [Fates] with its branching story paths).

I kind of want it to be a Musou game. Still, looks neat. I'm in 100%.

This looks more like a 3D fighter rather than an arena fighter. Fighters seemed locked into one another without free roaming movement. What looked like free roaming movement was actually 2 side steps/ side dashes from Ryuko. I'm buying this regardless, but I really hope it's a 3D fighter.

The big thing is that it will be playable at EVO. I highly doubt they'd try to debut an arena fighter at evo.

It's probably going to be exactly like Naruto storm, where the camera and combos lock into a specific position once they're triggered.

Not a bad thing imo.

The way a lot of the action is shown from the side makes me think they're going for something like Pokken's phase shift. The match starts with both characters moving in three dimensions, but almost every combo shown looks like it's happening on a 2D plane. Then Satsuki's launcher at 1:06 seems to act like a Guilty Gear Dust attack, and leads back into the 3D arena gameplay.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of this to get a better idea of how it plays.

can someone explain to me what an arena fighter is and why is it upsetting
People basically call any game that has 3D and free movement an "arena fighter".

It's usually upsetting because it won't play like 2D games and will be less competitive / polished.

An exemple of this done horribly wrong is : My Hero Academia, Dragon Ball Xenoverse (for the combat)

Exemple done right : Naruto Storm 4

So this could go either way.

Characters looked locked in to one another even at the start of the matching. There wasn't any sign of full free roaming movement in this preview. Theres a side step mechanic but Satsuki and Ryuko were still tracked with one another. Same as side stepping in Soul Calibur, VF, and Tekken. It allows for 3D movement but you never deviate from being in line with your opponent.

Seems like they have some cinematic camera angles to give the game an open feel. But not once did they deviate from that fighting plane or show some sort of free roaming arena traversal.

The moment they do show it, my interest in this game will wane... I'll still buy it though.

Like I said. I think Arc System Works knows better than to try to debut gameplay of an arena fighter at EVO.

You've never played the Naruto games? They're usually behind-the-back and give you full movement traversal on a stage.

for me this sounds great cos i really liked what i played of the naruto games and competitiveness doesn't matter shit to me

i don't want blazblue, i just want a fun casual game to play while i enjoy the story
