"Without Final Fantasy 11, would World of Warcraft have even been made?"

This episode of gamescast was great. 2 heavy hitters in a row imo. Why would disagreeing with a final choice make you stop watching though? The discussion is good.

I wouldn't choose Demon Souls in the top 5 either personally.
The PS1 discussion was bad enough, and by that time I couldn't be arsed with them arguing over whatever their criteria was meant to be for the list 40 minutes after they started it

I thought it was decent too... I'd much rather this sort of thing than "what you've been playing" for the 100th week in a row when the answer is always Destiny.

I hope they do a Nintendo version of this weeks next, and then Xbox and even some sort of third party one.

At what point do these people just admit they don't like Star Wars? 99% of the people at Kinda Funny haven't enjoyed a Star Wars film since the 80s (except for the fan service one that their friend wrote an early screenplay for) so why keep putting yourself through this? It's clearly not for you.

I used to love The Walking Dead and thought it was the best thing on TV. Then I stopped getting any enjoyment from it, so I let it go and kept watching things I enjoy. Nick should do the same. I'll bet everything I own that he has a negative reaction to Episode 9.

It probably generates views though, so that's likely why they're doing it.

But according to Greg: "KiNdA fUnNy DoEsN't CaRe AbOuT vIeWs"

Seriously though, if you have to push out content based on certain franchises purely for your bottom line, why not feature people who are actually knowledgable and care? There is no reason why Barret shouldn't be front and centre for this show. The same goes for him and Cool Greg on Harry Potter in Review.

Give Nick a break. Maybe he'll be able to come up with some KFAF skits that aren't just ranking food and Photoshop challenges!

And if views are actually important to this channel they should just go ahead and can We Have Cool Friends and Screencast, because clearly nobody is watching those.

Just wish Nick didn't PUSH his negative feelings SO MUCH. Tell us your opinions sure, but he butts in every time someone tries to give a positive spin or shares their opinion on why they liked something.

Though he's not an avid Star War fan I was glad Greg was in the Mandolarian one cause he at least gave positivity to Nick's 90% hatred of the first episode.

Also wish Barrett would chime in more with info from the Clone Wars show which would maybe help the other Kinda Funny guys have more perspective.

Trash tier comment. They all love episode 7 and all of them except Nick liked the Mandalorian. (I'm pretty sure Nicm said he was interested in the end parts) I think Deku up there makes a good point about Nick maybe needing to try to push his snarkiness/negativity a bit less, but I think it's completely understandable to not be enthralled with the first Mandalorian ep. (Which I also thought was average for many of the reasons he said, as a person who doesn't really have much expectation for anything star wars). I also think it's gatekeepy to try to denounce anyone as being star wars fans when it's clear that they care just as deeply as anyone else about the series.

Barrett needs to actually be on the show. His knowledge is desperately needed not only to correct them when they're wrong, but to also help provide that added layer of context to certain smaller moments.

Tim says Jedi game is his GOTY, before this was RE2.

I am trying to think what other big games he finished this year. DMC5? KH3?

Can't really think of anything else.

He definitely played those two, yeah. He talked about Fire Emblem and Astral Chain as well but I guess he fell off them? The last game I remember him talking extensively about is KH3.

Honestly I hope one of the 5.0 changes is to cycle Tim off of hosting GC if he's just not interested in games anymore. Like why not give Barrett or someone else that spot and let Tim focus on the areas he's actually interested in?

What in the ever living hell are you talking about? They literally JUST rated TFA higher than RotJ.

Gears 5. He was very high on that one as well.

Why is Greg so completely dismissive of Playstations streaming service? On KFGD yesterday he literally said "take PlayStation out of it, they aren't part of the conversation"... like why?

They have a service that, by all accounts, works, has the advantage of already being out and has the backing of a major industry player in the same way as XCloud. Yes they've been poor at marketing it up to this year but now they're turning that corner, they should absolutely be in the conversation at the very least.

Like Greg talks about choosing to play next gen games on Xbox over PlayStation because of the streaming option, but why would he need to make that choice at all? Why is he viewing it as a two horse race when it just isn't?

Yeah, it's odd. PS Now recently hit 1 million subs which isn't super crazy but it isn't nothing either, especially considering they really haven't pushed it much if at all until somewhat recently.

I don't know all the details so dont't kill me but hasn't his passiveness and behavior towards play-station changed over two things the other PS4Pro debacle and when they told him they didn't want him hosting some of their panels and coincidentally Phil Spencer actually going into the studio.

Also I feel that games journalists live in their own bubble of constantly moving and thinking Streaming is the way of the future and then.. JoSmoe on the road prefers to have a console and have time at home and we don't all have amazing internet.

I wouldn't have thought those things are related to his thoughts on Playstation as a whole (besides wasn't PSILY the only non-Sony panel at PSX?).

I think it's more that he's so focused on this narrative of Xbox being the "pro-consumer" platform, which isn't inaccurate to be fair, and that the streaming market is just going to be Stadia vs. XCloud, that he hasn't considered that that might not actually be true.

Greg refuses to change his stance ever. He dismissed PlayStation Now right off the bat. Didn't even remotely give it any chance when the PS4 released and sure as hell didn't give it a chance once they revamped it. Because of that he just sticks to his original opinion and refuses to even entertain the idea that it might be different to what he first thought. It's the same reason why he'll champion the "Stadia is the future" mantra until it flops and Google gives it the Old Yeller treatment.

There are so many days where I miss Greg being on the PlayStation beat at IGN. Back then he would have actually went out of his way to learn about this service. In 2019, Greg Miller is just yet another general gaming guy and nothing about him is unique anymore. I miss having someone who specialised in a particular ecosystem.

Yeah it's pretty frustrating; I don't even think he needs to sign up to it or try it but at least acknowledge that it's in the conversation and don't just dismiss it outright.

Like yes PS is partly to blame for how they've neglected it over the last few years, but now that they're focusing on it again it's worthy of being discussed.

Although I absolutely agree with you, I do think they chose not to go into that direction for a particular ecosystem simply to be able to talk about video game news overall. I'm assuming they thought they would create a broader audience and go over video game news.
However, if it was up to me I'd drop Internet Explorers in a heartbeat if meant we got a full PlayStation centric podcast or series or whatever. I absolutely miss those days.

It's the classic case of by trying to appeal to everyone you dont appeal to anyone.

Never build a core audience and then try to dump them in favor of more. 99 times out of 100 it fails.

They could have still branched out via Games Daily/Gamescast but continued to serve the core fanbase with a PS-centric show. I understand there's baggage attached to a potential PS podcast due to the Colin factor, but if Greg gave it a chance I've no doubt it would be a massive hit.

Then again, maybe he's just not that interested in PlayStation anymore, and such a move could end up being very disingenuous.

I think he's not interested in PlayStation anymore. You hear him talk about Stadia and Xcloud as well his love for the Switch and it's clear that he's looking for any reason to move away from the PlayStation ecosystem.

Love Andy though.

I'd say it was much more Colin leaving
Well if colin left and somebody like colin came aboard I dont see much of a shift happening. Somebody that loved PS and single player games and indies and niche games.

Where as Andy is all about gaas and multiplayer. Plus andrea on top. And then fran.

Felt like jared was the only one who played a lot of SP/niche games that they brought on.

Kinda Funny's Gamescast episodes dedicated to reviewing Death Stranding and Star Wars have done a combined 150k views. It's almost like being timely with your content results in people actually tuning in!

Hope they get the message... that's massive numbers for them! They need to make it a standard whenever a big game comes out tbh.

The excuse they've used in the past is that it's rare there's a game everyone's playing at once... well too bad, you should be asking people to make sure they play it if they aren't.

It should be a prerequisite to be on the show, honestly. There was a time where Greg would force himself to play games like Final Fantasy 15 just so they could all be part of the review. Next year they need to be aiming to have a dedicated review for almost every major game.
