Is there no quote button in the text editor? Dafuq

I'm also wondering what some of the best mods for pc are?

Some interesting info from Smejki, warhorse designer/writer

Q: Yo Smejki is the patching largely done or are there still major issues left? I remember a while back you talked about the reputation system being borked, for instance.

A: I honestly don't see the whole bigpicture, so take it it with a grain of salt.
But generally, yes. The bugs we're now fixing are less severe and the pace of incoming reports slowed down considerably. I personally for example received maybe 2 major issues in last 1.5 months and i'm responsible for the logic of 11 quests and several minor game systems. That of course means that I have time for creating new content (I'm working on the first DLC BTW). But it also means that most of us can pay attention to less severe bugs and issues which normally would (and could) remain unfixed. It's quite likely the following patches will be fixing similar amount of issues (around 200) however bigger and bigger proportion of them will be quality of life improvements in some quests or systems, minor tweaks and glitches a and bugs which are more and more negligible.
Patch 1.6 will be released together with the first DLC which is due later this month. And we will certainly release patches along with the other DLCs. No idea if there will be some other patches in between DLC releases.

Q: I thought KC was always meant to be a trilogy.

A: The whole "trilogy" thing stems from our long past history with publishers.
KCD was originally meant to be a complete story across 3 maps. The game was meant to be made by more people than we ever had for more money than we ever had. The project was rejected.
And thus we entered Kickstarter. I believe that our mentioning of ActI, II, and III was a mistake as it only confuses people. The acts correspond with those 3 maps I mentioned above. The KS campaign was only about ActI (with hi tiers preordering uncertain subsequent Acts) and this is what was turned into KCD (KCD1=Act1). However KCD had to stand on its own legs and so the actual KCD is much bigger than what was originally planned for Act1 (Pribyslavits, Uzhits, monastery interriors and big parts of the forests were not originally planned). So KCD1 is actualy Act1++. Unfortunately it's also why the story ends so abruptly. However even then I believe we could have handled it better. And by we I mean Dan. He wanted the story to end this way and we had biiiiig internal disagreements about it. To almost no avail. He thinks it's a solid ending. I don't think so.

I cannot tell you if Act2 and Act3 will be released together as KCD2 or if each Act will get its own installment (KCD2 and KCD3) or if the story ending will be expanded in some DLC. Nor can I confirm some actual "trilogy plan". All I know is that some people will be confused because of our mentioning of the original Acts structure.
Hope I made it at least a bit clear.

Q: Looking forward to Kingdom Come II: Hussite Wars.

A: I can confirm this - KCD2 story will continue the story of KCD1 right where it ended. That doesn't mean there can't a 17 years jump into the future in the middle of the game. Right? But ask yourself how likely that is.

Anyone expecting Hussite wars will be dissapointed, I'm glad that people are asking for it tho, it almost guarantees that warhorse will try and tackle it in the future, whether its in the next year or in the next decade.

So how's the Xbox One X version going? Pretty smooth? Less bugs than launch? Might get it in a month or two.

Yep tried that already, can't verify integrity on steam because it's gog too, even tried downloading the WHGame.dll file, but no dice, so it's something else

I assume you tried stuff like reinstalling various visual c++ redists, reverifying cache files and what not.

Sometimes shit happens and only way to fix it is to either create new windows profile, and if that doesn't help, restage the PC :/

This is the only game doing this, will this still help?

If not, may just uninstall and re-download.

The game tells me there's some stuff waiting for me in the parish guy's house in Rattay, but it's locked at all hours of the day. Are you suppose do break in?

This game has the same problem as Fallout 4 -- no separate item menu tab for documents. Maybe they don't take up a lot of space in your inventory, but I try to get to them often enough (treasure chests) that I'd like them to be easily accessible in their own tab.

I continued playing the game after a long time (due to bugs) and i was surprised they actually fixed the Nightingale quest. The patch did reset that particular quest (fine for me) and i was able to finish it without bugs.

My wife asked me about this game as she likes your Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. Is this something she would like also?

I would say yes, the way the saving works is a bit different but you can get mods that will let you save anytime you want.

Its very similar to skyrim but with a realistic setting, don't expect to be killing monsters and shooting fire out of your hands.

It is more storydriven. There are some long extensive (but well written and acted) cutscenes that are not in TES/Fallout games. But it offers similar experience in terms of freedom, exploration, questing.

Allrite, after doing some digging I found out some new info on the dlc and hardcore mode, supposedly its in the below video and starts at 11:35. I haven't watched it yet (at work and i want to watch with sound) but supposedly it goes into detail.

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/272850693

Not really sure why they wanted to showcase the stuff this way, could of did some sort of newsletter or something. Maybe that's still coming.

Edit: Just watched it, gives a lot of good information about the first DLC and the hardcore mode, definitely recommend it if you are a fan of the game.

Can you run out of time in the monastery quest?

I'm trying to find the abbot's list, but the very last door in the prior's chambers is locked behind a very hard lock. I already used the monastery key to get into the chambers and none of the guides say anything about that last door being locked.

What I don't get about the hardcore mode is why the North/East/South/West pointers have been removed. The compass had been invented by that point and was in use in Europe wasn't it? Or is it simply that someone like Henry just wouldn't have a compass?

Full Hardcore mode details below,

The Facts

  • North, South, East, and West will no longer be visible on the compass, so be sure to check the time of day and where the sun is located (rises in the East, sets in the West).
  • Waypoints are shown only when you get close to them.
  • Fast travel isn't possible in Hardcore Mode.
  • There is no autosaving. The game can only be saved by drinking Saviour Schnapps, sleeping in your own bed, paying for a bathhouse full service, or exiting the game (deletes once the game is started up again).
  • You can't rely on eating from the cooking pots. The best way to regenerate health is to sleep. Food and healing potions take quite a while to kick in.
You're only alerted to your current health and stamina levels by means of in-game visual effects.
  • Combat is more realistic in Hardcore Mode. Strikes have a more realistic impact, and engaging in combat with an experienced warrior without wearing quality armor is very deadly.
  • Traders pay less for goods and rewards are lower overall. Repairing items are even costlier.

    Negative Perks

You will need to choose at least 2 negative perks which will last throughout the entire game. Think of them as permanent debuffs that will make Henry's adventure in the world of Bohemia that much more difficult! And if you really think you have what it takes, go ahead and select every one of them.

  • Nightmares: Every time you wake up you are shaken from your nightmare and suffer a short-term debuff. Sleeping becomes more of a "tactical" choice.

  • Claustrophobic: When you close your helmet visor, your attack lowers. You have to choose between better protection or higher attack.

  • Hemophilia: You bleed more which makes taking hits in combat riskier.

  • Numbskull: Lowers your XP gain. A perfect perk for players who thought the vanilla skill progression was too fast and felt overpowered in the late game. It's more work to out level your opponents with this perk.

  • Shakes: For true sadists. Makes aiming a bow and picking pockets and locks harder.

  • Consumption: Your stamina regenerates slower. Combat is more challenging and requires thinking ahead of each strike.

  • Tapeworm: You get hungry faster, and since eating from pots around the world is no longer such a viable option, this makes the survival element even more prominent.

  • Sonambulant: Fun perk. There is a slight chance you will wake up somewhere else than where you fell asleep. Provides quite a challenge when you wake up in an unknown place and can't see your position on the map. Very rarely you can also sleepwalk your place to some secret areas.

  • Brittle Bones: You must be careful while running down cliffs and riding a horse. Falls are more dangerous.

Other Patch notes,

Patch 1.6 Notes

New feature

  • Added "Disable tutorials" setting in the game options.

    Fixed Bugs

  • Henry's trunk in huntsman's lodge no longer has "Rob" prompt.

  • Knocking out Nicholas in Cherchez la Femme no longer breaks the quest.

  • Fixed bug in Nasty Habits which sometimes prevented player from delivering wine.

  • Fixed light optimization that caused freezes while riding a horse for a prolonged time.

  • Hans Capon no longer sleeps till Judgment Day after completion of The Prey quest.

  • Killing NPCs in Playing with the Devil quest properly fails it.

  • Killing executioner Hermann should no longer tank the player's reputation.

  • Guards react faster to knocking someone out and carrying the body.

  • Fixed numerous bugs in quest Aquarius.

  • You can no longer drink-a-port from Talmberg castle in Run! quest.

  • NPCs react faster to player's surrender.

  • Standing up before dice minigame with Nightingale no longer breaks Keeping the Peace quest.

  • Fixed another bug affecting bird cages in A Bird in the Hand quest.

  • Guards should no longer attack player after he's paid a fine or talked his way out of punishment.

  • Crouch does not immediately trigger stealth music.

Other Patch notes,

Honestly not sure if compass was a commonly owned item back then, but I think it is pretty cool to force the player to orient themselves by position of the sun and landmarks, gameplay-wise.

How the game should have been from the start in my opinion. Definitely excited to start a new playthrough once the new DLC releases.

The one thing I really respect is that you can kill pretty much any helmetless NPC with a single arrow to the head.

Played the From the Ashes DLC for a few hours and I think you should start playing it while you're still rather early in the game (you can start the DLC after the first "boss fight"). Building the stuff is kinda cool and all but I guess it would more fun to do it while there are still other quests you can do and let the village generate some money in the meantime. I 100%ed the game and started the DLC on one of those saves and I'm basically just walking from A to B building some stuff.

I don't really feel like starting a new game, so I'll just continue building my village in a monotonous way.

How did you kick off the DLC? Did you have to talk to Divish?
I can't seem to find him anywhere and I'm in the epilogue.

Edit: NM found him, just had to wait a day and a half.

Finished it after ~5h and I must say that it wasn't worth the 10€ (unfortunately). Quite disappointed that you can't even expand your village (even though it came up in the dialogue) and there are some buildings you aren't able to build. You can build 10/12 buildings before you run out of space/complete the DLC.

If you decide to buy the DLC, do it before you finish the main game. Pretty sure you'll get more out of it that way.

Basically this:
I'm surprised to say that I'm actually quite disappointed with this DLC.

I feel that if you are yet to finish the game then this DLC will be great as it adds extra tasks and immersion during your playthrough but as a returning player who has done literally everything in the game there is little to be enjoyed.

It took me a few hours to get the town rebuilt which is achieved by simply talking to an NPC and selecting the building you want. You also need to secure supplies but that just involves travelling to other towns and paying for them. You can choose between a few buildings but most of it is preset and it doesn't really feel like you have any influence.

Once the town is built that's pretty much it. You can fight in the arena which now has a few more options for weapons and opponents and you get activities to judge people but they are just short dialogues where you make a choice that doesn't seem to have any impact on the town. You can't really interact with anyone outside of shop keepers so it just feels like another town you have visited.

As I said previously, if you are mid playthrough then this has some great roleplay potential, I know I would have spent hours in it if it was a part of my main playthrough but as a returning player there just isn't anything here content wise.

What are you getting? Apart from that Ti.

My 2500K is getting very long in the tooth, I really want to wait for the 8 core coffee lakes, but it is tempting to get it over with already.
Crucial MX500
Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM010
Intel Core i5 8600K
Asus PRIME Z370-A
G.Skill Ripjaws - DDR4
Seasonic FOCUS Plus Series 650W
Fractal Design Meshify C - Dark TG

I should also throw in some fans and an aftermarket CPU cooler. And a 27 inch screen for 1440p, preferably G-sync.

Kinda lttp but I just started playing this yesterday (I decided at launch to wait for some updates) and I have to say I'm impressed, I think it's really great.
I'm like 15hours in and the game just keeps on delivering interesting moments and systems. The world building is kinda incredible and it's a real joy to wander around and explore as much the forests as the cities. It's a really immersive experience, even with the rough around the edges animations.
It runs better than expected on my rig too, it stays between 50 and 60fps at high/ultra high settings with HD textures. (RX480 8Go, 16Go ddr4, I7 6700)

I hope it keeps this quality level until the end because I'm hooked. It's rather educational too if you read the codex, great stuff.
