OP, no where in this PDF does it say Q4.

Yeah i won't believe it until an actual hard release date is set. Don't have time to be speculating what Q4 2018 is gonna be. Makes me feel like how they did release date announcements of FFXV then it kept getting delayed and the whole slot machine fiasco of a date.
It says 2018 right in the PDF that was posted along with "We expect FY2019/3 earnings to benefit from the launches of major titles including "SHADOW OF THE TOMB RAIDER" and "KINGDOM HEARTS 3." Our plan is to announce the details of our forthcoming lineup at E3 in June."
With so many time spent on this game and the ages of building hype, I'm pretty sure this game would fair pretty well againts the likes of pokemon. Even more knowing that this pokemon is more of casual.
Still going to cross my fingers that it falls into the 2018 year, but if it doesn't, then at least we can say that it will be a good frontrunner for 2019.
Either way, I'm in the same camp as everyone else that wants to see this game come out ASAP. Finally seeing the game in action has me hyped, and I can't wait to see what we see next week.

When it comes to fiscal years, you're correct. So this game, if it releases after September 30, will be in Q1 of fiscal year 2019 and Q4 of calendar year 2018.
Q3 of FY2019 would be April-June next year.
Still deciding if i want to cancel my 40$ Amazon order, or get 10$ gift certificate at Best Buy.
While you're not wrong they would've probably indicated an FY18 if that was the case. Also we are now in FY19.
Slight correction, Square Enix start/end of the FY is in April (the ending year denoting the FY) so next year's April-June is actually Q1 FY2020.
Edit: i should just use their wording to not confuse myself. We are currently in the Q1 of the FY ending mar2019.
So in other words it's pretty clear this Q4 is referring to calander year.

It's not the same PDF but looks like they reused some of the same data.
The only way it'd come out this year would have been the last 3 months or a surprise non pre September announcement (because they're not releasing it against dq11 that month, I mean SE can be dumb, but not that dumb).
This will hurt Pokemon more than anything, I think the fanbases overlap each other somewhat and KH3 5+ plus years of hype will get the fans to purchase it first.

My understanding is that it depends on the company, but for Square, the fiscal year should be from April to March.

No it's not. Q4 CAN be 2019 depending on a company's fiscal year, but it's also 2018 regardless if going off of calendar year.
I got until Q4 to finish that collection. Seriously might skip Chains of Memories to catch up because this game boring af.
I just finished CoM. The boss fights are mostly fun, but the regular fights are a huge drag. My recommendation would be to skip it and watch the cutscenes online.
