That game was great for JP audiences since it contains jokes from a sitcom featuring Kato-chan & Ken-chan aka one of the most famous Japanese comedians ever. When they localized to the west, Americans didn't know who the fck they were and didn't understand references.
backport the SEGA CD translation to the PC Engine version or something.
I believe it's actually Momotaro Densetsu II and Momotaro Katsugeki. The RPG and the action game. They only listed one! DenSetsu is the RPG series, DenTetsu is the board game series.
OK I'm going to have to ask...why is the TG16 on the hood of a Lotus?
EDIT
pc engine version of SNATCHER is uncensored too ie more nudity and gore compared to the western Sega CD release
M2 (Again, assuming they are actually handling the emulation.) is pretty well-known for their programming skills. So i don't think it's impossible. They couldn't backport the Sega CD localization. It is too different from the PCE-CDROM script. The Sega CD port was made exclusively for english audiences and the localization team of Scott Hards and Jeremy Blaustein (also responsible for the MGS1 localization) made a lot of changes to the dialog that would not fit with the PCE version. Also, The Sega CD port has an extended third act with an altered different ending. This one would have to be a new translation/ localization.
Good job pointing out the PEGI 18 rating, though. Wow, maybe this version of Snatcher will come to the west?

the first Nintendo-alternative game magazine I ever bought. That cover was incredibly bold and stuck out betwixt all the Fashion and Car enthusiast mags. Wish I still had it!
I would kill for the PC Engine model with English games.
The TG-16 is such an ugly case for hardware that takes up 1/5th the size.
I always thought the design and name of the system in the U.S. came across as a desperate attempt to be "cool" in contrast to the Genesis which just was cool

Yeah, that crossed my mind but I didn't see any Lotus related headline. Guess it must be subliminal :)This was honestly one of the first video game magazines that I ever purchased. I think I was nine at the time. It was actually pretty good and covered micro computers as well as consoles.
I think it was advertising Lotus for the Amiga as well.
They only listed one! DenSetsu is the RPG series, DenTetsu is the board game series.
Ha, good catch!
I've always seen the game covers but never stopped to actually differentiate between the two.
confirming TurboCD game support (maybe they said that earlier, I must've missed it if so)
They announced Ys book 1 and 2 in the initial batch, so we knew there were Cd games. Also lords of thunder was in the sizzle reel. But good to see they put a few more in here.Well, this is interesting. Konami just confirmed that the TurboGrafx-16 Mini will ship with "50 games," and that's split into US and JP versions. As in, the US is gonna get a TurboGrafx-16 full of original Japanese games, untranslated, alongside the American material. 24 USA games, 26 JPN games in all. This is different than Sega and Nintendo's approaches, which have region-locked their particular mini-console game selections to certain territories.
It's quite the freaking collection, with only a bit of overlap.
US:
- Alien Crush
- Blazing Lasers
- Bomberman '93
- Bonk's Revenge
- Cadash
- Chew-Man-Fu
- Dungeon Explorer
- J.J. & Jeff
- Lords of Thunder
- Military Madness
- Moto Roader
- Neutopia
- Neutopia II
- New Adventure Island
- Ninja Spirit
- Parasol Stars
- Power Golf
- R-Type
- Soldier Blade
- Space Harrier
- Victory Run
- Ys Book I & II
JP:
- Akumajō Dracula X Chi No Rondo (Castlevania: Rondo Of Blood)
- Aldynes
- Appare! Gateball
- Bomberman '94
- Bomberman Panic Bomber
- Chō Aniki
- Daimakaimura (Ghouls 'N' Ghosts)
- Dungeon Explorer
- Fantasy Zone
- Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire
- Gradius (Nemesis)
- Gradius II – Gofer No Yabō (Nemesis II)
- Jaseiken Necromancer
- Nectaris (Military Madness)
- Neutopia
- Neutopia II
- Ninja Ryūkenden (Ninja Gaiden)
- PC-Genjin (Bonk's Adventure)
- Salamander
- Snatcher
- Star Parodier (Fantasy Star Soldier)
- Super Darius
- Super Momotarō Dentetsu II
- Super Star Soldier
- The Kung Fu (China Warrior)
- Ys I & II
Lack of Splatterhouse is interesting on Namco's part, but also interesting to see Konami put freaking Snatcher and Rondo of Blood on here--confirming TurboCD game support (maybe they said that earlier, I must've missed it if so). Shame that those'll both be Japanese versions. Snatcher's official English translation on Sega CD is a treat. But, yeah, wow. Nice list all-in-all, Konami.
I like both lists but man that PC Engine Mini list is fantastic!Well, this is interesting. It seems all regions are getting the exact same list, but games like Snatcher are staying in Japanese.I like both lists but man that PC Engine Mini list is fantastic!
Ah, really? That's pretty sweet actually. But yeah, that's pretty wild for Snatcher. It seems all regions are getting the exact same list, but games like Snatcher are staying in Japanese.
Agree, Devil's Crush was one of my favorite Turbografx games. Never really liked Alien Crush. No Devil's Crush is SUPER crushing to me. Alien Crush just isn't as good.
They are still perfecting their shrink ray to get the thing workingThis isn't out until March ? Awesome lineup, but damn that's too far away..
Whoa wait, did I see they're putting Tokimeki Memorial on this too? The first US release ever!
Aww man. A good replacement that most people will prefer but I assumed the games shown in the Japanese video were going to be the same ones to appear on the us version. I didn't realize there were differences. It would have been amazing to see Tokimeki get an official us release after all these years. They actually pulled it from the US/EU system in favor of SALAMANDER. Probably because it's the hardest game to play raw in Japanese (Necromancer and Snatcher are easier)
