On March 19, 2018, Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. filed in the United States via the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) a trademark application for "Silent Hill". The application is on an Intent-to-use basis (under Section 1(b)) for the following goods and services:

Electronic gaming machines, namely, devices which accept a wager; Gaming devices, namely, gaming machines, slot machines, bingo machines, with or without video output; Gaming equipment, namely, slot machines with or without video output; Gaming machines; Gaming machines featuring a device that accepts wagers; Gaming machines for gambling; Gaming machines including slot machines or video lottery terminals; Gaming machines that generate or display wager outcomes; Gaming machines, namely, slot machines and video lottery terminals; Gaming machines, namely, devices which accept a wager; Gaming machines, namely, electronic slot and bingo machines; Machines for playing games of chance; Reconfigurable casino and lottery gaming equipment, namely, gaming machines and operational computer game software therefor sold as a unit; Slot machines

As you can see, this concerns gaming machines that accept a wager, Pachinko for example. So this likely does not concern a potential realization of Project P.T/Silent Hills. What struck me as interesting about this particular application is that it is filed by Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. and not Konami Gaming, Inc. which usually files trademark applications related to the firm's amusement/gambling business.

A medal game based on Silent Hill 2 was released 2015 in Japan. I do not believe that title has been made available in US yet, so I guess this application could be related to a coming western release.

Konami's original trademark application for Silent Hill, US Serial Number 75456606, originally filed on March 26, 1998, is up for renewal earliest in 2019.

I think that even if Konami were to revive what they have of PT, I doubt people would be as interested because everyone that made the project interesting left.

Honestly I would love it if they license their IPs instead of shitting on them, it is clear that they sre no longer into making games so why even force it

This hurt just a bit

You think they don't see value in letting another developer use the IP for games? Like Bayonetta and Nintendo I mean, where I guess Sega is also getting money for the games even if Nintendo pays the development

For half a heartbeat I hoped it was something like Silent Hill Survive using PT assets.

But I knew better. Of course I knew better.

I immediately thought Pachinko as soon as I read the thread title. If it really is then Konami is shameless lol.

I can because Konami didn't want to pay for huge expensive console games anymore when they have easy pachinko money to make leveraging those same franchises. I don't like it either but that's how it is.

I am a huge Silent Hill fan but...

Anything new by Konami as they are now will be shit. There is no hope for this franchise any more. Kojima was legit the last hope.

This isn't be hating. This is me depressed and not falling for anything teased.

My only plan is to write off any new game as DOA and maybe, by some sheer improbable chance, be surprised by reviews and impressions.

I can understand that, but cancelling this big of a project while burning bridges with (probably) everyone involved ? That is one of the biggest shows of stupidity ever.
