Capcom threads tell me that this means Konami has the correct strategy and you can't complain. They're not obligated to care about core games.

Wonder why all other game developers aren't making gacha Games and pachinko machines then. Seems like easy money.

Using MGSV as an example is terrible because that game's development was straight up cursed. A new SH wouldn't need as much budget now that Kojima's gone, if they could get the people to make it.

Again. I dont think Konami have any devs capable of making MGS or SH atm. Remember Survive? Konami atm simply is not build to make AAA games. And no. SH will need big budget especially after Kojima setting a standard of what a potential SH can be with that demo.

Anything less than that will end up like survive.
Konami is coming baaaack.

They never left lol.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Konami's practices: Fuck Konami. Fuck them a million times over for how they treat their employees and what they did to Kojima.

That bar chart looks like the financing and operation cost of KojiPro when you flip it upside down.

Not that they ever implied the opposite, but it's pretty reasonable to say Konami didn't need Kojima and they don't miss Kojima. I understand gamers feel personally attached to figures in the medium, but these people are running a business and they couldn't care less about GameFAQs backlash when they're making money.

A lot of weird corporate defending in this thread and snarky hand-waving of people lamenting historic IPs that have been left in the metaphorical crypt seemingly never to see the light of day again.

That will always be worthy of scorn considering the number of people on this video games forum that actually give a shit about the home console market and not a fucking casino business or hell, even a microtransacting, manipulative mobile game market.

Makes me wonder if some of that profit each year goes towards forum plants that proudly run into threads like this puffing out their chests and holding their noses in the air proclaiming "SEE?!? PROFITABLE!"

"You whiny piss-pant peasants! Isn't PES enough for you?"
I see you.

It's awful how they treated their employees in that situation and deserve every bit of criticism over it, but it's always weird to me how people put it together with the "they don't make AAA games anymore" complaints.

It would be nice to see 'em get back into the game, even if they don't do any massive AAA projects like Metal Gear Solid V... just hop aboard the Switch train and do small/mid-tier games.

This is what i meant by uninformed people.

Pachinko is not "bringing in the big bucks".

Pachinko is in the "Amusement" segment, and It brings in 10-15% of revenue and profit pretty constantly.
I didn't say biggest. And 15% isn't nothing. People here tend to act like Konami's just completely throwing away their IPs by turning them into slots.

I never really thought Konami was that bad, even during the Kojima fiasco.

good to see their decisions have been vindicated.

Not so much handwaving as accepting what's not gonna change. Konami is finding great success elsewhere. They aren't gonna suddenly cough up 80 million for another MGS game or 50 million for a Silent Hill game. As much as I think MGS V the greatest stealth action gameplay ever (spent a 110 hours and counting with it) and want a sequel that sets it up in smaller areas like Ground Zeroes, it's not going to happen. So instead I'm looking forward to Death Stranding which looks like the most Kojima game ever while lamenting MGS probably being dead. I'm looking forward to Bloodstained Ritual of the Night while lamenting I'll never get another Castlevania.

I don't understand how...
What games are they releasing?
Is it pachinko or is it just the games they have now are funding them with MT money constantly?

It's strange too, as their yu-gi-oh mobile game, I don't find it very exploitable

7 konami game on top 100 biggest revenue on mobage market.

One of the is on top 10. And this is just japan only. We know that PES and Yugioh mobage is also big WW.

Pachinko bring around 15% money for konami. So still big money but not the most.

Or maybe, just maybe AAA home console games(and I do appreciate that you specify home consoles, fuck portables amirite?) isn't any more valid or important than any other type of gaming?

Professional Baseball Spirits Ace is easily the best mobile baseball game and maybe a top 5 baseball video game ever, so it makes sense that it would perform well. If they slapped an MLB skin on it and put it out here, it would do quite well, at least in comparison to the other mobile baseball games in the US.

i think Konami should sell their IP games or give other publishers licences to make games from those IP
because it will be waste if they stay at Konami for ever without having any good quality games

Technically... They did that once for Nintendo by licensing out Momotaru Dentetsu which is a Hudson IP to release a 3DS game in 2015 but I don't know if they would do it for any Konami IP.

Konami sucks and the company seemingly refusing to make new mainline games in beloved series like Silent Hill & Metal Gear also sucks.

I hope everyone drops critically acclaimed AAA budget games and instead focuses on mobile gacha and creepy anime games.

That would be better for the industry.

So what's the state of Pro Evolution Soccer? I'm not a particularly huge fan of sport sims but PES is something I played in the past a little and there was a game journalist in my country who was absolutely crazy about PES, was really good friends with the head-honcho of the PES franchise and he made it kind of fun to follow the yearly battle of supremacy between FIFA and PES in the early 2000s. But lately I haven't really been seeing much of that rivalry. Has FIFA just completely taken over? Has PES just taken some not-so-good steps that have driven it to obscurity among yearly football games?
