Wonder why all other game developers aren't making gacha Games and pachinko machines then. Seems like easy money.
Using MGSV as an example is terrible because that game's development was straight up cursed. A new SH wouldn't need as much budget now that Kojima's gone, if they could get the people to make it.
Capcom threads tell me that this means Konami has the correct strategy and you can't complain. They're not obligated to care about core games.
That bar chart looks like the financing and operation cost of KojiPro when you flip it upside down.
yeah it's almost like these business people know how to do business. Not that they ever implied the opposite, but it's pretty reasonable to say Konami didn't need Kojima and they don't miss Kojima. I understand gamers feel personally attached to figures in the medium, but these people are running a business and they couldn't care less about GameFAQs backlash when they're making money.
We know perfectly well that pachislot brings in the big bucks. Doesn't mean we have to like it.
It's awful how they treated their employees in that situation and deserve every bit of criticism over it, but it's always weird to me how people put it together with the "they don't make AAA games anymore" complaints. Not that they ever implied the opposite, but it's pretty reasonable to say Konami didn't need Kojima and they don't miss Kojima. Remember the people who were sure Konami would crash and burn after letting go of Kojima and angering Gamers™ ? lol
I mean, we see the same thing with EA threads and how for sure they're headed to ruined
I didn't say biggest. And 15% isn't nothing. People here tend to act like Konami's just completely throwing away their IPs by turning them into slots. This is what i meant by uninformed people.
Pachinko is not "bringing in the big bucks".
Pachinko is in the "Amusement" segment, and It brings in 10-15% of revenue and profit pretty constantly.
A lot of weird corporate defending in this thread and snarky hand-waving of people lamenting historic IPs that have been left in the metaphorical crypt seemingly never to see the light of day again.
That will always be worthy of scorn considering the number of people on this video games forum that actually give a shit about the home console market and not a fucking casino business.
Makes me wonder if some of that profit each year goes towards forum plants that proudly run into threads like this puffing out their chests and holding their noses in the air proclaiming "SEE?!? PROFITABLE!"
"You whiny piss-pant peasants! Isn't PES enough for you?"
I see you.
True, but I'm hoping they transition to doing more mid-tier projects. A new Silent Hill game doesn't need to be a big AAA affair, for instance.
WutAnd they still refuse to resurrect their old IP. There's a REAL market for Darkstalkers 4 and Power Stone 3.
i don't expect any new big game from them, but at least i hope they make most of their back catalog available on current platforms, the 3 collections are a good start.

U dont diss Yugioh dammit. U wanna get hit by Shadow Game? Mrgrgrggr.
I don't understand how...
What games are they releasing?
Is it pachinko or is it just the games they have now are funding them with MT money constantly?
It's strange too, as their yu-gi-oh mobile game, I don't find it very exploitable
No, it's a great platform, has been for yeaaaars. Mobile is awesome.Konami made more profits than Capcom despite its Capcom best performance year in 2018.
Mobile is the future, guys.

Not what I meant but...
Not what I meant but...
What is this? I cant find information about it... is it Japan only?
i think Konami should sell their IP games or give other publishers licences to make games from those IP
because it will be waste if they stay at Konami for ever without having any good quality games
what happened to capcom?Capcom threads tell me that this means Konami has the correct strategy and you can't complain. They're not obligated to care about core games.
