Do you say this with any accusation made against predators or just right now because he's a prominent dev?

I say it because the lawyer himself is being sued for misuse of company credit cards and this accusation is out of left field. I couldn't give a fuck if he was a prominent developer or not.

So the lawyer was going to keep his mouth shut until he got slapped with a huge ass lawsuit for millions himself?

Sounds like a real winner too.

This forum has no moral standpoint in taking the high ground on a child pornography accusation.

This question seems a little loaded. Do you bring this point up anytime someone mentions waiting for evidence or only when people have preconceived opinions about the accused?

I would hope this applies to every situation, but regardless, it is still a good suggestion to wait for further evidence before immediately believing every accusation. We shouldn't assume accusations are immediately true just because he is a prominent dev either.
You should take this with a grain (more like mound) of salt because the one making accusations is beeing sued for fraud by gearbox and this is his line of defense.

The idea os to shift the focus from his alledged fraud to Randy beeing a pedo.

If he is, throw him in the darkest pit, if he isn't and it's just to change the current lawsuit's proceedings then getting the « fuck you Randy » comments out is premature to say the least

This forum has no moral standpoint in taking the high ground on a child pornography accusation.

Care to elaborate?

That means provide examples in this case.

I say it because the lawyer himself is being sued for misuse of company credit cards and this accusation is out of left field. I couldn't give a fuck if he was a prominent developer or not.

My opinion on that is that he didn't need to put that stuff in there with the other stuff unless it was true.

I tend to take any accusation of sexual misconduct seriously regardless of who is being accused, yes.

If a victim came out and accused him that's one thing. The lawyer is literally just saying he had heard from someone else what is on the flash drive. He has literally no idea what is on there besides what someone else told him.

It could be as baseless as me saying someone told me you have underage porn on your flash drive.

I hope it isn't true simply because if it were true that would mean 1 more shitty person in this world and a number of additional kids subject to sexual abuse. I'd rather fewer of both of those.

If it turns out to be true than I hope Randy gets everything he deserves. It is deplorable behavior.

I feel sorry for him if it's bullshit, people will readily believe anything about someone they don't like. Especially if he made an aliens game they hate

Oh fuck right off. Because one of the mods at the old site was a pedo everyone here is too?

Drake threads about relationship with Millie Bobby Brown and another about how he behaved with underage fan on stage come to mind. Some posters did their best to come up with reasons why it all was above board etc., I don't know if anyone was banned for it.

TIL that his full name is Randall Pitchford the Second, which means he's Randy Junior. Because of course he is.

I'm kinda lost on why the child porn and sex parties were mentioned in this lawsuit, though. If it's a countersuit to prove that Randy Jr. hasn't fulfilled his fiduciary obligations to Gearbox by pocketing $12 million in an LLC, what do his alleged sexual indiscretions have to do with it?

And now that Callender clearly doesn't feel like observing the attorney-client privilege that kept him quiet about the child porn earlier, why isn't he going to the police with those allegations? That's what he should do, rather than dropping them randomly into a lawsuit about stolen money.

Well guilty or not he'll never shake that stink of a kiddy porn accusation.
Actually if it turns out that the lawyer is the one trying to pull a stunt with his lawsuit, considering he himself is being accused in a different lawsuit, then I don't see why his accusation should hold any sort of water against Randy.

What do you mean, he can make those claims with no repercussions whatsoever?

That would be fucking wild if true. If accusations this serious are fabricated say what you will of Randy for other shit, but he should be able to legally destroy the accuser. Now that this is public his reputation is forever torched.

He's guilty already - at least in the court of public opinion. This thread kind of confirms it.

Sounds like the Pitchfords started cleaning house after that prior story about them getting taken for a ride by their personal assistant, this guy got caught, and now he's flailing. We'll see what the courts have to say, but that's some pretty wild shit to conveniently bring up in a countersuit.

Oh I'm not saying it's right, but look at this thread already. The public has already made up their minds and you're not going to change it with "facts".

See above:

I... so you're not going to mention the USB drive thing in the lede, because it may not be true... but by god you'll tweet about it alongside tweeting about the article itself!

Well, this thread confirms people dislike Randy in general and thus would be more prone to judge him guilty of said accusations without evidence. I don't have much of an opinion regarding Randy, but this Callender dude seems to be trying to pull a stunt, IMO, as a way to deflect attention from the severe accusations against himself.

Isn't Randy already disliked in ResetEra though?

I know it's popular to hate on Randy for some really obnoxious attitudes and shitty business behavior in the past, but this is a whole new level of serious, and shouldn't be assumed true about Pitchford until this goes through the process because of how fucking serious it really is.

Randy's a huge pathological liar, so I might have to side with the lawyer on this. But I'll let the court decide that. I'll hold my judgement.

I don't buy the porn part, though.

Cool, I'm glad your opinion equates to fact and that evidence of the matter is simply not needed. Court of public opinion is always the dumbest court involved.

If there is evidence it will either come to light in court or not. For now there is nothing stopping myself or anyone else from taking the accusation very seriously especially when this sort of thing is not at all uncommon.

The whole situation makes the child pornography accusation very hard to believe. Although that's as an outsider. Let's see what the courts say.

You don't think someone with an axe to grind would be willing to put that in there? Even if his lawsuit goes nowhere, just having that single sentence alone might be enough to ruin Randy's career.

You realise that for the past two years accusing someone of beeing a pedo is all the rage right? From Clinton to Gunn to anyone you have a beef with.

They instantly change the discourse

I'd like to think there's a difference between "hating on" Randy as in haha look at this guy and his bullshitting and "hating on" Randy as in yeah I could see him being a pedo.

You can take accusations seriously and be impartial until evidence proves guilt or innocence. And based on the wording of the lawsuit they don't even have evidence, they have hearsay.

But totally keep implying he's guilty based on no evidence.

Honest question: what does you taking the accusation 'seriously' actually accomplish?

If someone randomly accused him of this in a blog post or in an interview, taking it seriously could lead to some investigating and potentially trying to charge him.

In this case the claims are already mentioned in a formal legal battle, so it is already escalated to an actual court and the court of public opinion doesn't need to do anything.

Taking accusations 'seriously' is a very good stance and can help stir up enough information to proceed to legal action. I just don't see what it will do in this situation since legal action is already initiated. Just let the courts do their job and we'll find out.

Not trying to get you to change your stance and honestly think it is a good stance to take most of the time. I just don't think there is much more it can do in this particular instance.
