Nah the degenerate part is downloading a video of a camgirl to analize and discover her "magic trick".
I think maybe you're putting too much into that. I dont think theres exactly too much studying going on in that sense, maybe he just wanted to get a few pointers :P I'm sure there are better ways though, theres probably guides specific to the subject :P

We have no idea when the podcast was actually recorded, just that it was released on the 22nd.

Podcast hosta should say when this was recorded so that we have a clearer timeline since many pods are recorded days, sometimes weeks in advance to accomodate their host

Again I don't think he would talk about the usb porn if he didn't know (or suspected) about the lawsuit...that would be crazy lol

Would Randy know about the lawsuit before everyone else?

The timing of him doing a podcast and talking about the story a few weeks before the story breaks is a little suspicious to me.
Not before it was filled. Also, his company had just filled a lawsuit against the lawyer, having worked with him for years it wouldn't surprise me that he/they would know which line of actions he could take since he would have been privvy to the usb drive incident (which Pitchford confirms) and that there was some kind of porn on it (which again he confirms).

There's a reason the lawsuit is written as is to create confusion and trick people into thinking he's a pedo. This is why Gearbox are going with the deceiving angle with their (soon to come) contersuit (according to their PR)

So the alleged $12 million payment went to Randy's 'Pitchford Entertainment Magic Media, LLC'. And Randy is saying that his interest in the porn on the USB drive was for its "magic trick".

Can't make this shit up.

Yeah, strictly speaking there's nothing ILLEGAL about keeping squirting camgirl videos on the same USB stick you keep confidential documents on, losing the USB stick at a Medieval Times, getting the stick back and suspicously demanding it be destroyed before any of your colleagues can make sure it hasn't been tampered with, then going on a performance magic (lmao) podcast and telling the hosts that you had it downloaded to study as a matter of professional interest as a practicing magician.

It is maybe the funniest thing that's ever happened, though. The fact that it happened to Randy "false flag Battleborn hentai" Pitchford is just *kisses fingers Italian-ly*

Sorry I'm a bit slow so I might be missing something- Gearbox sued the lawyer first?

I don't necessarily want to defend Randy Pitchford of all people, but, yeah, even the "but she was barely 18!" folks have to realize that's the age almost all cam girls enter to get more attention -> views -> money. it does not mean they're even close to 18. pedophile? I doubt it. ironically, that's the kind of rhetoric that'll normalize paedophilia in the end.
Which rethoric?

OH
MY
GOD

I just clicked on the podcast to hear him talk about this stuff by myself and I noticed it was called "The Piff Pod" and I was like, hey, wait a second, "Piff"? Magician? That seems familiar. And then I clicked play and immediately noticed the voice.

MY GUYS. This is the Podcast of Piff The Motherfucking Magic Dragon.

Randy Pitchford
talked about the magic trick behind a squirting "barely legal" webcam girl
on a work USB stick he forgot
in a medieval times restaurant
on a podcast hosted by Piff. The. Magic. Dragon.

I need to lay down. This shit is like a Shyamalan movie.

They sued him for using company money to buy personal shit like family holidays and guns. He also apparently was loaned money for something he hasn't paid back.

Gearbox (and Randy by extension) has to have some sort of deal with the devil to survive the countless flops, fuck-ups and controversies they've had in the last decade alone. So many studios have sank from less and they keep trucking.

The case was filed the day before the podcast. It's awfully suspicious. Even the host of the podcast is what the fuck does this have to do with magic?

All of that is a mess for sure, but it's made even messier because of this still unclarified tweet

I mean, podcasts, unless they're explicitly recorded live, are often recorded days or weeks beforehand for the guests' convenience and whatnot. And the people running the podcast wouldn't necessarily know that any lawsuit has been filed. Could just be a coincidence.

OK, so what's the about then? Asking for a friend 😸

A few years ago Randy had some tweet that was like "whoa do you guys want to hear something crazy, there's a subreddit that's filled with Battleborn porn. Isn't that weird haha I'm actually laughing." but he made the Tweet less than an hour after the subreddit was made so the percentage play is in assuming that he made the subeddit and Tweeted about it in some bizarre effort to drum up attention for his failing game.

Ah, I'm very dumb. I misread that entire paragraph as being allegations made against Randy. Thanks!

No worries.

This could be a case of a business partner getting sued then going scorched earth in retaliation or Randy could be both a dumb pedophile and embezzling from his company. We'll find out either way.

This thread is laughable and it's exactly why this lawyer worded his claim exactly the way he did, because he knew people would lazy/dumb enough to immediately jump on the Pitchford is a pedo bandwagon without bothering to understand anything about the case or reality. Watching porn doesn't make you a fucking pedophile, even 'barely legal' porn.

Dude's a genuine fucking weirdo. He also had this giant lie about how Valve wanted the name "Gearbox" but Randy beat Gabe Newell in some bet so Gabe had to settle on "Valve" or something fucking dumb. I don't understand this dude's thinking at all.

I might be misremembering but I think he said that it happened on a river boat cruise lmfao

There's a broad genre of porn where the performers claim to be "barely legal" as in 18 years old and thus not legally children. Given the language of the lawsuit, where "underaged" was in quotes, and the wording of the Pitchford podcast interview, that was the porn that apparently actually existed on an apparently real flash drive. That is not, however, "child pornography" legally speaking.
I don't see how the quotes matter. Underage in relation to porn means the girl is under 18 regardless of if there were " " or not.

They're a strange studio with highs and lows, Borderlands was one of the biggest new IP's last gen and the BL2 was by any measurement an excellent sequel. The franchice has made them a fuck-ton of money with strong sales long after release. They also revived a beloved PC IP with Homeworld, I think their only significant financial flop was Battleborn as I'm pretty sure Aliens: Colonial Marines and Duke Nukem forever were still profitable.

Ok if it's actually child pornography then throw the book at him. If it's 18 year olds doing weird shit.. lol I'd love to take a look at the search history of everyone throwing stones. Again though, actual cp, then I'm out.

I mean without the guy having the flash drive or whatever it's impossible to prove the cp claim, right?
Basically, but the fix is already in. You can put whatever you want in the body of a lawsuit, and there's no way to prove any of this, so Pitchford will win in the court of law, but he's already lost in the court of public opinion. Either Callender is knowingly exaggerating details of a true story, or he's correct, and people are more inclined to believe the latter as long as a man who has repeatedly demonstrably lied in the past continues to offer suspicious defenses that would still be creepy if they were true.

I also feel like we're all missing Ars' recent update to their article, where Gearbox claims the "peacock parties" refer to events held at a public venue called "Peacock Theater," and Ars immediately responds by linking an article from a few weeks ago describing the Peacock as a venue owned by the Pitchfords on their private property.

I'm not going to wade into the quagmire of if it's okay to jack off to barely legal people, but confirming that he keeps his porn on a company USB stick that he loses at restaurants certainly makes the lawyer's claim that there was UA shit on there more believable. Obviously this is purely circumstantial.

That's a gigantic leap, what the fuck

There's no guarantee that Randy had even been served notice by the time the podcast came out, completely ignoring having no idea when it was actually recorded.

In any case, Randy literally believes the camgirl in the video used sleight of hand to fake female ejaculation. That's the whole reason he was talking about it on a Magic podcast.
