The lack of integrity from Jason (and others in the industry) is one of the reasons why Tyler and NeoGAF got away with so much bullshit for so long.
The AMA Kotaku hosted, in 2015, at least 3 users commented and asked about the revenge porn he posted.

For someone who didn't seem to have an issue getting blacklisted by publishers for leaking things which obviously isn't something studios wanted to be public, he handled the entire thing poorly from the very beginning.

separating the signal from the noise becomes impossible when the sources are unknown and/or assumed trolls. the waters are muddied. do they care about victims? do they have a personal grudge against someone or something? it seems to me like integrity is a tricky thing to quantify, but surely the quality of sources matter.

holy moly. you're happy a dude that banned tons and tons of people for no real reason is back? guy was a jerk through and through. He even took the banhammer to practically anyone that vocalized their enjoyment of the xbox one lol

He even banned me once I'm fairly sure and Im quite happy to see him back. I semi deserved it as well and your statement is quite hyperbolic. I do admit that now in hindsight it was kinda dumb, but back then it was quite exciting to see him mass swing the hammer on obvious marketing accounts with dubious registration details. Perhaps he went too far in the end, but I kinda doubt he targeted xbox fans on purpose considering of the sheer volume of people that got a ban at one point or another. If anything the attitude of a good chunk of the whole forum against xbox fans was unfortunate which hopefully wont repeat itself

One of the beautiful things about this foroum is that it was literally a reset. They have given everyone a new start. They have laid out the rules, and everyone is being judged on their conduct and not their past. While I know this won’t magically make your criticisms or past feelings go away, it’s a fair deal since it applies to everyone.
One of the reasons this forum is so positive and enjoyable, is that the staff decided to shed all baggage and let the community start new.

I never had an account on the other board, but I spent an awful lot of time browsing the off-topic section. So, I'm a new face around here :) Resetera has been really positive and welcoming, so I'll be settling in for the long haul.
Completely unrelated to the topic at hand, but I REALLY like the red mod edits re: warnings, bans, etc... I mean REALLY like, "enough to ask that svelte red banner on a date".

Yep, it adds a great level of transparency to the moderation.
I hope it will stay like that but we'll see if things change once everyone gets comfortable. This is like peacetime. Everyone's just excited to be here right now.
Honeymoon phase, but also the obvious QoL changes which promotes conversations (alerts are a godsend) + increased mod transparency features + return of many names which contributed to what made the original forums great. It's a giant round 2 situation but everyone has learned from the mistakes.
Just tried logging in now and noticed I have postings privileges! Good to meet you all, may we all have an awesome new start from GAF. Love the name, BTW
