2 years ago here in Australia I got a reading of 50 degrees. That day was fucked up.
That's just a sneak preview for the next 100 years.
Makes me think of a news story I saw recently that parts of the Middle East and SE Asia could be uninhabitable in a few decades.

By the end of the century, Arabia, North Africa, Australia. and the American Southwest will be too hot in the Summer for human habitation. It's going to get bad.

Unfortunately, "...recorded the highest temperature on record!" is probably something we'll be hearing year on year from here on out.

It got to 47C last year in Arizona, though luckily it hasn't gotten that hot yet this year. Still, it's only June... and it's already 42C today...

I've been in 110 Fahrenheit before here and that was brutal. A/C could barely keep up with the heat outside. I can't imagine 123!

That's pretty dang hot, I wouldn't want to deal with that.

However, I'm pretty sure it's not the hottest ever recorded. A quick Google search says that the hottest is Death Valley at 56.7 °C (134.1 °F) .

Oh it gets better

This was Saturday, and sure enough, the temperature reached 51°C today, proof from my friend's car

I'm tired of assholes saying, "Kuwaiti are lazy and they never leave their house" I have a headache from walking for 10 minutes in the sun today, It's just not realistic to be out during this time of the year.
People actually say that? Here in Ohio, many folks tap out around 27 lol.

I'm going to be honest, I live in Arizona and I always laugh when people complain about the heat, because 46-48 isn't totally out of the question, but 52... That's nuts. Respect to you, and I hope it cools off soon.

Hoping to move further away from the equator before the long-term effects of climate change takes its toll on areas in or near there.

Now imagine how hot it is in cars that have been sitting all day.

I'm not insufferably hot until 112 or so, but I'm not going to be eager for this Las Vegas summer.

Is it humid over there? We sometimes get 32-35 celsius here in Canada, and with humidity, it feels like an extra 10 more celsius, which is hell. I can't imagine 51 celsius + humidity.

Everything is fine, y'all.

The planet definitely isn't dying, hurling us all into an unfixable hellscape because rich men don't give a fuck about anything but money.

It's totally cool.

I remember when i was a kid walking home from school in saudi arabia which also has similar temp. I would go to the bathroom first and literally drench my cloths and hat in water and by the time i was home i was dry.

When my father wanted to use the car he would turn it on and actually stand out side waiting fir the ac to cool the interior. The seats would burn your skin otherwise

Never mind the world, this is actually not even a record for Kuwait. A temperature of 54 degrees was measured in 2016 (and the same in 2013 in Death Valley).

The world record is currently 56.7 degrees in Death Valley.

Considering it's still the first half of June I'll bet that local record from 2016 will be broken by quite a bit before summer's over.

I did not know that, I feel stupid.

No need to feel stupid. Think of it like this: if you were told to prepare a hot bath at a certain temperature, would you measure the heat of the water right beneath the faucet or on the opposite side of the tub to know it was ready?

Wow that's... awful. How do you even get around it? If you live deep enough in the ground, will it be cooler?

I was in Vegas last July, where it was 110-115 in the day, and about 100 at night. It fucking sucked. But man, nothing beats walking into a big gorgeous casino and getting hit in the face with a blast of AC after that.

Going back again for the fourth :D

I thought the record was higher for some reason, a bit over 130, or maybe that was a reading that remains unverified. Today's high over here in the California desert is 108, and right now that I had a break and got into my car that's baking under the sun , the car's thermometer read 122.

If I was rich I would have 2 houses, one in the northern and one in the southern hemisphere. That way I can move the southern hemisphere from May-August and never have to experience summer.

It got up to 116F one day last summer here in Southern California - and I don't mean the desert either, or the valley, I mean near the coast in Irvine.
I went running in it!
It was rough! Way rougher than the previous high from the year before, which was "only" 108F.

That's what a lot of retired people do for winter, well in RV's not houses though. Since our temperatures are mild where I live, we get "Snowbirds" from Canada who spend the winter down here.
