Sam Seder blew tf up on today's majority report over Nancy Pelosi openly handwaving impeachment during Bush for Iraq because it didnt fit her narrative despite "knowing there were no WMD's".

Around 1:50:00

I think his anger was misdirected at Jamie but it was coming from a place of frustration that had even me fuming.

Honestly, fuck Nancy Pelosi.

Michael at 2:18:30 is all of us lol

Yeah like I'm not going to dunk on him cause I don't watch the show or know their dynamic or her beliefs, but the only two clips I've ever watched of this guy have involved him getting mad at her lol
Sam's a grumpy social democrat. The rest of the crew are socialist. He's let Michael have it from time to time as well, but this was definitely a bit more unhinged. I understand how it got that way though. The Bush era is the name sake of the Show. It's a personal thing for him. At the same time, I do feel bad for Jaime and I'd hope there was a more personal apology off camera

Yeah I'm not sure if it's a seniority thing where Jamie plays the punching bag because she's newest to the team (I don't actually know who's been there longest or shortest anyway) or if it's a bit of insidious bias or a combo of both. I've noticed myself that she seems to be ignored or talked over most consistently. On the surface it seems that there's little animosity between her and the other hosts and they do makeup from any friction when cameras are off but I'm hoping I won't read Jamie spilling some awful tea about her time on the show in a few years.

Sam does sometimes look annoyed when Michael butts in

It doesn't seem Sam is actively malicious to Jamie and Michael just him being grumpy and annoyed at the two radicals in his crew (though Michael seems to be the centrist between the two, by that i mean his politics sits between jamie anarchist and sam more standard social Democrat)

It's kinda funny how the MR crew have no idea how to engage with Jamie's politics. They are all so used to having aggressive debates with people who think they know better than them, that they don't know how to talk to someone who disagrees but isn't sure and wants you to fill the gaps in for them.

Debates with Jamie should probably be one of the most useful things for the MR audience, but in practice the crew's lack of ability on that front tends to make debates with her some of the least informative.

I only started watching MR recently, but it seems to me no one really debates Jamie. They just let her finish her thought and move on most of the time. Michael agrees more often than not but that's kinda it.

It happened more when she first joined. Seems because Sam knows debate never goes anywhere he just swallows any disagreement, but that also means her thoughts are never acknowledged or expanded on. And apparently it built up resentment that exploded in that Pelosi thing above.

There is also the fact that the Iraq war was basically his main focus for so many years and during those years it was not pretty for those who openly spoke against the war, usually resulting in alot of pure hatred thrown your way form the majority of the US and the very real possibility of tanking your career. I really think his outburst has little to do with any possible resentment towards Jamie herself.

New video came out. I think this is her longest one so far?

Considering the criticisms Contrapoints has had recently this is probably going to be her most controversial video.

Yeaaaah... I'll reserve judgment until I see it, but I'm bracing myself for a number of tone-deaf comments throughout the video. Would love to be proven wrong, but we'll see.

I added it to my queue and I'll watch it with my partner at some point in the near future. Hoping for the best. Would love to see some general impressions.

I'm halfway through and, yeah, I dont feel qualified to comment tbh. Will be looking out for opinions from the trans and NB community on this one.

well I've only watched the parts where she addresses the previous discourses and so much of it was blatantly disingenous so if any one is still waiting based on wanting to hear about that first don't bother with the video. though she does apologise twice about two older incidents of her saying hurtful shit so nice to know shes capable of such a thing

Fucking weird to be propping up Buck Angel one moment and then decrying the treatment of August Ames the next but what do I know. Transmedicalism is just "gold star" discourse for trans people, after all.

Just watched some of NonCompete's videos, he seems to have more of an Anarchist leaning but there's some good stuff. Here's his most recent video:

When actually thought out and themed, non-compete makes some of the best vids. He makes things relatable and tangible.

Edit: Angie is also making some hard hitting videos

I think his actual point is good. Far as I understand it, from further reading(Twitter is such a shit way to keep track of a conversation like this though).

Peter Coffin really loves showing his ass on Twitter, huh?

Stopped following him after some questionable actions and how he's interacted with fans, and this is just the nail in the coffin with this revisionism. Read the whole thread and Peter seems way too satisfied that he can point out that both sides are like team sports. Their alienation is delusional, they just couldn't adjust to the world not being about straight white males anymore in tiny morsels of representation.

Peter Coffin is the type to just jam vague leftist concepts together that sound smart on paper but fall apart when held up to the slightest scrutiny.

Gamergate wasn't a reaction against neoliberalism ffs. It was and will always be a proto-alt right project.

This does seem to just be yet another case of Coffin trying to paint people who attacked marginalised groups as justified or misunderstood, except this time he's done it with a group that also shat on him if I recall events correctly. Coffin is the perfect example with everything I've been seeing lately with the left online, people rushing to the defense of bigots and using leftist language to justify themselves

I don't think Peter Coffin is defending Gamergate, but he is wrong. GG was not a group of "justifiably" angry people who were manipulated into taking their anger out on the wrong target; they were unjustifiably angry at women for daring to have their own wants and needs, and took that anger out on women specifically. It didn't have anything to do with neolibral warping of feminism, they hate any kind of feminism. He tries to tie it back to class warfare but the simple fact is GG itself was mostly about misogyny. The only thing they were alienated by is the fact that video games no longer cater to them entirely.

"gamergaters justifiably felt alienated by the neoliberal fetishization of feminism and the reductionism of politics to identity teams - and powerful people with supremacy ideologies have worked a long time to subsume this alienation"

I totally get and understand the second part of this statement. Supremacist projects do try to subsume people feeling alienated or vulnerable - "justified" or otherwise. This is the micro scale of how fascism spreads. The first half I... don't know what is being said clearly. Making leaps there that I'm not following. The alienation as a specific reaction to "neoliberal fetishization of feminism". I didn't see that so much as dudes unjustifiably scapegoating women for their frustrations.

I'm one to say that understanding material and historical factors doesn't necessarily mean justification, but here coffin says it is and l'm at least very confused by this. The men involved could have "justifiable alienation" but I don't see how it being directed at neoliberal or whatever feminism is justifiable.

Why the fuck is he trying to tie it to GamerGate? A clear hate movement that was started because of the lies of a jilted ex?

People really shouldn't be trying to excuse his take on any level because there's a lot of valid criticism about white liberal feminism; especially in 'woke' communities that rallied behind Hillary despite her history/current day views. By trying to link that criticism to the opposition of a hate movement that exclusively targeted minorities in the industry you're not just eroding you arguing that first point; you're going to target rational people away from it as a whole because you're actively siding with the actual Kiwi farms Nazis that Contra was trying to paint people who googled Buck Angel in her last video as.

Peter's always come across as an utter twat if you actually try to digest what he says but this is probably the biggest low since his being racist while pretending he has a cute Asian girlfriend days. To be honest "bread tube" is a trash fire right now. As somebody who thinks Southern poverty is a huge issue and that we shouldn't just ignore whole regions that are dying due to poverty, a lack of education, opioid epidemics, general health crisis', and a lack of any kind of opportunity due to systemic oppression (especial given in many of those regions also have huge minority populations) Throwing minority groups under the bus like this is no more helpful then "Let's hope all the people in these states starve because a lot of them voted Trump".

It's not difficult to point out that you want to help systemic issues people face and the oppression created by the wealth divide without going out of your fucking way to excuse/defend bigotry on a personal level or any kind of attacks towards minorities.

Yeah, he's completely full of shit and doesn't even use his big words correctly. "the reductionism of politics to identity teams"? what the fuck is that phrase my guy. His analysis of what GG is and how it started is 100% off base too. So tired of this shit constantly being relitigated by idiots (always men), and the same women having to publicly set the record straight for the thousandth time.

idk much about Coffin, but the last time his name came up in my sphere was when he was yelling at his fans for saying "hey this person you know is a rapist", so I feel pretty comfortable in saying Fuck Off Peter.
To be honest "bread tube" is a trash fire right now.
Yup, been clear for a little bit. Just another clique whose main goal is closing ranks whenever anything happens. Class solidarity in action!

Also I never seen this OP before but I had a good chuckle at Bob Chipman being labeled a Leftist. Dude's as neoliberal as they come.

It's also transparent that quite a few of them started releasing their thoughts on 'cancel culture' just before or during them putting out a bunch of very privileged takes where they put themselves above marginalised communities whilst defending literal biggots.

Hold up what?
But yeah breadtube creators have mostly been very disappointing lately with some shit takes throwing marginalised groups under the bus and even more nuanced ones being worded in such a way that just comes off as constructing strawmen, like with the whole thing about their earnings. And a decent number of them really seem to like pointing their fans at people who disagree with them in anyway

Shocking that this guy is still an idiot. tbh idk how he ever recovered from this (I just learned about it myself lol)
