Let's Speculate on Tifa's Design in Final Fantasy VII Remake

I dont mind this one.
I think that design is pretty human-like. I'm all for making her proportions more realistic and less fuck ridiculous but do not mess too much the the iconic outfit of an iconic game that's getting remade. This is not a sequel, this ain't no AC, this is a remake. Do some of you seriously want to give Tifa a jacket and pants for this remake? If Dissidia could pull it off so can this.
Honestly Tifa's portrayal in Dissidia is perfectly fine. If anything is added to her, something like a leather jacket would be pretty cool. I would only want a slight deviation from the original (like Cloud and Barret), not a complete redesign like in AC.
Blame SE for this iconic canon cutscene that ended all other cutcenes. I can hear *boing* from here.

Well, the portrayal of a character is equally important.
Tifa's assets weren't overblown in Dissidia, but she was the only female character with jiggle physics and panty shots. The game even has a remark about using the camera to zoom in on the goods.
Even if they nail the Remake design, I also worry that they'll retcon her personality to be more submissive, even though she wasn't pressing herself against Cloud throughout the game like so many people misremember.
Well I wasn't embarrassed to play FF7 in front of anyone. It's just a non issue for me. I wont mind if they're smaller in the remake. It's rarely something that bothers me.
I understand not liking that character design, but I don't understand how it's "way too far" or "wanting people to get pissed."

More submissive? They'll probably highlight her feelings more as a more indepth game is want to do, but i doubt they will make her less capable. infact i think they will do the opposite, and change the slap fight to basically have her destroy
My guess is that they'll keep her original costume and just add detail to it. I really doubt they'll go for the baloon breasts. Like, if I'm remembering properly only the FMV model had really exaggerated breasts. The battle and overworld models aren't that huge. The concept art and original artwork bring out her legs rather than her chest.

I agree that they'll need to rethink a lot of the Honeybee Inn (or just axe it), but I think there's plenty of wholesome fun to be had in Cloud crossdressing. It's fun seeing a character out of their comfort zone (in a relatively innocuous way), it's fun seeing Aerith have fun with the whole process, and the "joke" is more that 'hey, Cloud actually makes a kind of hot lady' not 'haha, a man in woman's clothing!'
Honestly in my replays I've been surprised and kind of into how supportive some of the surrounding characters are in that section to the idea of Cloud crossdressing. Everyone is surprisingly neutral/okay with it, which is obviously how it should be, but I didn't expect it from a 1997 JRPG.
Yeah I think the slaps will not phase Tifa at all and Tifa will simply slap Scarlet once and bring her out of balance and drop to the ground
Personally I don't care what she looks like overall. I just like her color palette, design wise, so I hope whatever they go with, it's white top with miniscule if any black, with black bottoms, and red shoes. As long as it's that, I'm content. AC design with a white top and red shoes would be fine with me.

I feel like this probably is only a first 3D ff problem. The designs in 8, 9, 10, 12 I don't feel had any huge bouncing breast in cutscenes or anything. They'll tone it down but will keep the clothing design.
None of the changes so far have been that radical so I imagine Tifa will look the same, but with more reasonable proportions.

im also wondering where this idea came from that tifa's boobs got toned down in later versions of her? She always had had a large bust in every incarnation from AC to Dissidia. The difference comes in the exaggerated proportions in that one CGI scene versus more realistic proportions. With that in mind, im not sure why they would change her design in that way.

Anyways, I'm in camp that I feel Tifa's design should be modified to some degree. I always felt Tetsuya Nomura's design of Tifa was the result of being given a basic description, such as her being a tough girl who works at a bar, in which case... design wise, I can kinda see. But once we move out of this area, I always felt her continuing to wear the same outfit felt out place, especially once I became older. It's especially out of place when we get to some later cutscenes, including the infamous scene when the Weapons materialize and shoot out of the Lifestream.
I can't really comment about her breast size, since I'm not a woman and this is an area I can't really comfortable give a full opinion on, so I'll keep this brief. I feel a lot of issues probably could be resolved if designs were modified a bit, clothing wise and the like. Specifically once we move out of area where she should be theoretically be wearing more practical clothing. I do know women who have relatively big breasts, and I know the pains and struggles it is in this regards (since I know this can cause back pains, and the few friends I had over the years I met, have commented largely on this), but I do think there's a balance between having them big and practical looking, versus whatever Square did back in the day, especially with that later cutscene I mentioned earlier. So that's really all I can say.

Of course, no amount of swole would justify being able to lift dragons above her head.
But a little bit of muscle definition would be an improvement, imo. Not Zarya levels, but Korra would be nice. She still has to move and punch a lot, so she should be a LITTLE fit instead of baby arms.

The lack of clothes-switching is really a result of budgetary reasons. Same reason Squall goes to bed in his uniform.
Half the characters literally would not be alive crossing the Great Glacier wearing what they do. That's why I hope Remake introduces us to a whole bunch of new outfits (both in-game and DLC).

Her features always had a Western vibe for me, especially considering where she grew up in during the flashbacks.
They went with an Asian face in AC, I assume to match the mo-cap actress. As for which way they go for Remake, whose to say.
The one character that definitely should look Asian is Yuffie (Kisaragi). Everyone else is open to interpretation I guess.

If the Ultimania book is to be believed, Nomura stated that she was created to be a competing love interest for Cloud (Aerith was designed first), thus he based her on his "ideal girlfriend".
i dont recall it being phrased like that. rather tifa came into the picture after it was decided that Aerith would die and there needed to be a character to keep things going. But of course there are plenty of interviews and translations around so i could be wrong
I always kinda imagined Tifa to have a slightly southern accent to her. Nothing heavy like, say, X-Men's Rogue, but just enough to be noticable. Given that, having her explicitly look Western would be ideal to me.
That being said, Vincent being anything other than Italian with a noticably Italian accent would be painful lol.

I hope they do something interesting with it, i always thought the original design was pretty bad and lazy.
Make her fit, sure, but shes a striker not a grappler and flips around like a ninja. That just looks like a body builder.

I think something like this would be best, then just cut all the silliest fanservicy stuff (crazy jiggle, panty shots). But I won't be shocked if they go a little too far, covering her up and giving her a breast reduction.
All I know is that they should go all the way and make Cid just look like The Fugitive-era Harrison Ford, since that's definitely his vibe.
