Hoo boy.
Hope y'all are ready for June.
I'm psyched. Can't wait to see the work gone into Tifa's design, and what they ended up on.

Yes, I know people like Hitomi Tanaka exist who have slim bodies and huge breasts, but for someone like Tifa who obviously have martial arts training it doesn't make as much sense.
She'll have more proportional breasts (relative to her body) but they'll still be large.
People will still complain.

In the grand scheme of things complaints about character designs will have people shouting at each other but aren't going to be nearly on the level of a possible Honey Bee controversy. I am most curious about the Cid stuff once the Remake gets there. Cid and Shera scenes with voice acting
you actually can see the trace of it even it just a little bit on Aerith
you actually can see the trace of it even it just a little bit on Aerith
im afraid it become trend since lunafreya redesign
In what way? Luna's redesigned face was terrible, it made her face look like a little kid stapled on top of an adult woman's body. Didn't feel "westernized" at all.
well thats how it looked to me
its not they completely 100% westernize it like the kingsglaive design, but there is the trace of it..at least how it looked to me
correct me if im wrong

Same.I'm going to love Tifa's design, whatever they do.
And a bunch of people are going to hate Tifa's design, whatever they do.
I thought Stella's face looked far more "western" than Luna, honestly. Both versions of Luna have a very distinct "anime girl" feel to them, and they made her look far, far too youthful.
Her breasts would be too big and too small at the same time, and it would be the fault of appealing to the otakus and the SJWs depending on which opposite side you are.
I'm a psychic
I hope Tifa's design goes fully in the opposite direction of Aerith's girly, delicate design. They should look at Wonder Woman comics for inspiration. I am hoping she is physically imposing and just comes off as a brute in combat.
This thread is getting galaxy brain now
Gonna see a lot of strikethrough names come E3
That remind me of how, despite Skyrim being popular in Asia, its character asthetics get modded out by both Japanese and Chinese players as fast as humanly possible.I can tell you right away it... probably won't be this. You might get a hint of muscle tone, but there's basically zero chance Western twitter/tumblr aesthetics will inspire Tifa. Tifa will be girly, and if we're all lucky she'll be a believable martial artist, too.

if she doesn't look at least like this then why bother
altho I think she will end up looking like Aranea, which aint bad either.

I cannot fucking stand this design tbh. Like, what game is she even meant to be in? Cause it ain't FF VII.
Don't think the other sketches were posted, I think it's all the same artist; Adrian Meribault.
I think something like far left still has a lot of the energy I like about Tifa's look as bartender and the far right looks the more like what I'd expect her to look if she was ready to actually join Cloud and Barret on a mission.
Imagine having this much of a meltdown over a redesign that wasn't aimed at "fanservice."I cannot fucking stand this design tbh. Like, what game is she even meant to be in? Cause it ain't FF VII.
Sure it's well rendered, but that's not a good design. Suspenders over a leather vest jacket? lol nah.
This desperate attempt to cover up Tifa's legs is hilarious. Her long bare legs are a defining feature of her OG design. I still don't understand why big tits and short skirts are inherently bad. Also, those people worrying about it not being realistic in game with a dude has fucking gatling gun for a hand. A game where a relatively lean guy is swinging a giant slab of metal as a sword.
All of that you can suspend your disbelief, but Tifa having big tits and a short skirt in battle is too much for you.

They are not remaking Advent Children. They are remaking FF VII from 1997.The world's a changing place, oh well.
I'm cool with going down the Advent Children path, pushing that further. FF7's Tifa is a god damn relic from a different time that I really hope they don't return to.

This literally looks perfect.
It's likely going to be this but with new embellishments and details, like Cloud, Barret, and Aerith. This literally looks perfect.
If the new games design looks close to this it will be great.
If the design ain't broke, why fix it?
Aw, man, that scene is gonna be fucked up with today's tech if they keep it in."How hard should Cloud punch his girlfriend?" is a legitimate question Pat posted in the latest Castle Superbeast podcast....
It's likely going to be this but with new embellishments and details, like Cloud, Barret, and Aerith.
I can see them giving her biker shorts at most, as they gave Barret shades, so who knows. Even then, I wouldn't want them to. Tifa Always has the sexy bar tender who is also the bouncer. Sexy and tough.
Some people aren't as into the very apparent sexiness of her design. That's fine, it's mater of preference. Although, I'd say those wanting to reduce that aspect are missing the point of her design in the context of FF VII's setting and art direction. I believe she's also meant to be a sort contrast to Aerith, who is visbaly more modest in her dressing.
Personally I have no problem with sexy designs and characters. As long as it looks aesthetically pleasing and is a solid design. It's likely going to be this but with new embellishments and details, like Cloud, Barret, and Aerith.

That skirt is gonna be hard to animate in battle I betThis literally looks perfect.

Agreed. There was some playful use and subversion of archetypes in FF VII. A lot of that would end up getting lost in translation if Square Enix were to acknowledge the opinion that Tifa's design is outdated or too sexy for whatever reason. There's no real convincing argument against it.Expanding on this point, it also demonstrates the idea of subverting the impressions that the characters' give on their first appearance. Tifa is dressed a bit sexy, and she beats the shit out of people with her bare fists, but she's also revealed to be relatively demure and insecure, and even has a bit of a damsel in distress fantasy. Aerith looks more conservative, but she's shown to be stubborn and independent and openly flirty with Cloud. It doesn't stop with the women in the game either. Cloud himself gives the impression of a badass anime hero, but he turns out to be a hell of a broken individual.
Anyway, no, they probably shouldn't have crazy jiggle physics Tifa from the cutscenes, but I don't see any reason for her outfit itself to be changed.
Honestly, some of the other characters looked kind of awkward in those old prerendered CGI cutscene.Personally I have no problem with sexy designs and characters. As long as it looks aesthetically pleasing and is a solid design.
I think Tifa's original design is great and shouldn't be altered too much.
It only looked terrible in those awful CGI cutscenes.
But there is also no reason they couldn't have alternate selectable costumes in game.
This literally looks perfect.
If the new games design looks close to this it will be great.

I don't see it happening. Cloud wields a massive sword and he still looks pretty frail. Maybe a bit more toned in Remake.
There were people who said she was "too small" here.
This is why the back-and-forth boobery continues to be frustrating.
This keeps getting used as an example, but keep in mind Cloud has Mako juice in his veins. It's literally supernatural strength.
The Last Order anime had a great example of this: when Zack drops the Buster Sword, half a dozen Shinra mooks all work together and they STILL couldn't lift it.
