Billionaire philanthropist. He allegedly bankrolls powerful left-wing causes. According to many conservatives, he is the man behind everything from the Deep State, Obama, the Clintons, the death of the coal industry, Antifa, Black Lives Matter, Democratic Socialists of America, LGBT movement, Occupy Wall Street, Wall Street, rainy days, and acid indigestion. Might even be funding this website!

Is he really left-wing Godzilla in a world of other monsters? Kochs, Mercers, etc?

How did this man come to prominence? He's hailed as some Democrat Anti-Christ among Republicans. I'm pretty sure there are other high-roller Democratic Party donors out there. What would "progressive" billionaires even get out of funding left-wing causes? Purely for the social issues? Economic status quo?

I feel like VICE should do a story on Soros. The comment sections on the article would be entertaining.

I dunno, but honestly there are less left-wing billionaires than there need to be. Most likely because empathy usually precludes sociopathy.

I'm not sure "more billionaires, but the good kind" is a solution
This is America. Aggressive capitalism isn't going away. The most we can do right now is to get a few of them on our side. If the money is in causes that care about the welfare of humans, that's where the legislation will go.

He is also Jewish, and you know, Nazis gonna Nazi. That's a big reason why he's singled out among the many political donors out there.

Because the right-wing tactic of projection is a constant in everything. What, the left is complaining about super rich billionaires pulling the strings behind the scenes? Yeah...well, there's this guy doing that for the left!

A boogeyman for far-right idiots to avoid having to engage in any actual debate or discussion, which they have no idea how to do. That's why they prop him up as an easy answer, and of course, they're master projectors so they copy what people like the Mercers or Kochs actually are onto him.

Can't stand the man. Never got paid for all my Campaign 2016 work hyping up random liberal crap on the old forum. PoliEra has been working without a contract for over 12 months and it's extremely hard to keep up morale. We're considering forming a union. One of the most contentious issues is a demand that we work the word "socialism" into every post.

George Soros
Hungarian-American investor George Soros has been the subject of conspiracy theories since the 1990s. Like many billionaires, Soros has used his wealth to promote various political, social, educational and scientific causes, totaling an estimated $11bn up to 2016. However, theories tend to assert that Soros is in control of a large portion of the world's wealth and governments, and that he secretly funds a large range of persons and organizations for evil purposes, such as the American anti-fascist protest group Antifa. Such ideas have been promoted by Bill O'Reilly, Roy Moore, Alex Jones, Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar, Breitbart News and cartoonist Ben Garrison. Soros conspiracy theories are sometimes linked to antisemitic conspiracy theories

He made billions operating a hedge fund. He also made a ton when he "broke the Bank of England" by shorting the pound. Many years ago he started a foundation called Open Society Foundations to which he's given billions of his money to over time, especially over the last few years where he gave it $18 billion. The foundation supports democratic movements all over the world. It also defends human and civil rights among other things. Additionally, he's given quite a bit of money to Democratic candidates (although nowhere near how much he's poured into his foundation).
Extreme-right wingers hate him because he supports democracy, people's rights, and progressive causes. Loony tune conspiracists think he's behind every progressive movement due to this when obviously he's not.
edit: He's also originally from Hungary and is Jewish. So obviously he's a globalist trying to take over the world in a secret Jewish conspiracy according to them.

The guy's an asshole, I haven't received my check for protesting, yet! How are we supposed to purchase anti-personnel and anti-materiel weapons for our Antifa supersoldiers without it?!

What is the whole parentheses thing about? Why do they do that? What does it mean?

It means he's Jewish.
From wikipedia:
The use of triple parentheses or triple brackets, also known as an (((echo))), is an antisemitic symbol that has been used to highlight the names of individuals of a Jewish background. The practice originated from the alt-right blog The Right Stuff; the blog's editors have explained that the symbol is meant to symbolize that the historic actions of Jews had caused their surnames to "echo throughout history." The triple parentheses have been adopted as an online stigma by antisemites, neo-Nazis, and white nationalists to identify individuals of Jewish background as targets for online harassment, such as Jewish political journalists critical of Donald Trump during his 2016 election campaign.

I thought Soros was exclusive to the US. Here in Panama, we are having an issue that conservatives are doing whatever they can to block same-sex marriage. Surprisingly, while reading their crazy comments on Twitter, some mentioned that Soros was behind this. Couldn't avoid laughing; Soros is also known in Latin America and for many he is using his fortune to destroy the "traditional family values".

His recent predictions that FB/Google would see their "monopolies" dismantled and that cryptocurrencies should be dismissed as in a "typical" bubble made me giggle. His methods of finding arbitrage are not only dated, but nearly impossible to implement in modern times. He should be looked at as a tool to promote and fund democratic processes and nothing more.

I know. I was one of them. I was paid by the Trump team to poorly shill for Clinton to give fodder and credence to other paid Clinton attack team members disguised as Bernie Bros.

The funny thing is that leftists aren't the biggest fans of Soros because he made his money doing the sort of things that we all hate Wall Street for. Market manipulation is the root of his billions, though he has put it to much better use than other vulture capitalists, and anyone who pisses the deplorables off that much is a net good for our world.

Iceland's former PM believes Soros is to blame for him being ousted from power conspiring with news outlets from Germany, Sweden and Iceland.

I don't know much about him. Heard on the radio he gave a speech at Davos. They made a short summary of what he said and I agreed with everything he said.

Billionaires usually don't become billionaires without being involved in some morally questionable activity, but he's clearly the right's big bad Jewish boogieman. At worst, he's probably pretty typical of his class. Market manipulation, paying too little in taxes, basically typical "Wall Street" criticisms.

Can't say I trust him (as I don't really trust billionaires), but Republicans need to have at least a couple billionaires against them, or we would be even more fucked.

I've watched some of these right wing youtubers and they always find these insane connections that link any organization that is even remotely left-wing to George Soros, like, this organizations parent company is X, and the co-founder of X has a wife, who's best friend from high-school had a boyfriend, who's uncle one time was on cruise ship where he met a guy, who once told him that he had a dream about meeting George Soros, therefore GEORGE SOROS IS DIRECTLY FUNDING THIS LEFTIST PROPAGANDA!

In my opinion, he is to the right what the Koch Brothers are to the left: an easy target to pin the blame for everything on. The Boogeyman.

A very old man whose influence in this world have been overstated by people that are scared of influential Jewish people. That is all there is to him.

I heard if you say SOROS three times in the mirror in a dark room while spinning backwards he will appear and give you a bag of money if you are liberal or scratch your eyes out if you are conservative.
