So I absolutely wasn't interested in a game with new protagonists....
never mind, shit looks amazing and seems to be the correct rebound from 2.

That’s awesome. Never did care for the episodic release setup with the others.Nope, this one isn't episodic. The full game releases in September.
LiS2 was praised by critics. The actual reason is LiS2 just wasn't appealing to nearly as many people, and in my opinion thats because it was extremely boring. Other people might have just not liked the setting/characters. Don't try and paint some conspiracy.
LiS2 failed to rejuvinate the hype and interest that the first game did. Thats not the medias fault. Notice how LiS2 EP1 has a higher amount of interest than LiS1 EP1. LiS2 trails off because it didn't hook players.
The marketing department correctly assumed that most people will think you need to play the other 2 to understand this games story if they named it LiS3Why True Colors? I’d have rather it just been called Life is Strange 3. A subtitle gives it the vibes of just some little spinoff game and not a mainline sequel.
Yup. Re-litigating from twitter randos about LiS2 being actually good and overlooked because of it's story featuring minorities is missing the forest for the trees: it was dreadfully boring and not nearly ambitious enough. The only people who can even make that determination are people who bought it, and many people bought it because it was about latinos, so that argument just totally falls on its face for me out of the gate.... and in my opinion thats because it was extremely boring. Other people might have just not liked the setting/characters. Don't try and paint some conspiracy.

I think that's part of the charm though, like you have all these isolated incidents where no one (not even the character w/ powers) knows what's going on. Makes it more relatable and mysterious.I think some major turn offs with Life is Strange 2 were, yes, that it didn't continue from where the first game left off and people were obviously attached to Sam and Max but that you also weren't playing as the super powered character this time either, you were actually babysitting them.
I do wonder if this Life is Strange shared world is leading anywhere, though. How many individuals need to pop up with superpowers before someone or some organisation starts targeting them?
It's better proof than a baseless conspiracy about the games media intentionally ignoring a game for no reason
hey it's actually the most ambitious game.
Looks like the engine hasn't been upgraded at all in terms of character models/animation?
That being said, the first one is one of my favorite games.
I was extremely dismayed by the fanbase with their full-on diet racism around LiS2 during the reveal. The game sadly didn't do itself any favors between poor narrative choices and the spacing between eps being way too long, but those issues did not crop up until well after the community marked the game as "no queer white teen drama, not interested".I was pretty active in the LiS community and seeing the reactions when LiS2 what announced made me drop all involvement.
True words are spoken here.
Not a conspiracy when I vividly remember seeing posts here on Era about the reveal complaining that they "couldn't relate" to the protags so they weren't interested.LiS2 was praised by critics. I'm wondering who would pick the Jim Bob on the left over Steph.the main character looks great but

these two others npcs look...very...generic?
they didn't even try to give him a chance it seems :pI'm wondering who would pick the Jim Bob on the left over Steph.
These anecdotal takes don't line up with LIS2 E1 having higher interest than LIS1 E1. People were interested. It just didn't hook players beyond that first episode. Not a conspiracy when I vividly remember seeing posts here on Era about the reveal complaining that they "couldn't relate" to the protags so they weren't interested.
Yes the game itself had issues. No, those issues weren't apparent until well after the community complained that the game was about latino boys.
Nah not gonna erase the diet racism we saw by dismissing it as "anecdotal" sorry. These anecdotal takes don't line up with LIS2 E1 having higher interest than LIS1 E1. People were interested. It just didn't hook players beyond that first episode.

I guess the marketing department forgot Final Fantasy exists. The marketing department correctly assumed that most people will think you need to play the other 2 to understand this games story if they named it LiS3
Spoken like a Warren hater.I'm wondering who would pick the Jim Bob on the left over Steph.
ngl I had flashbacks of TLoU2 and how it treated minorities when I saw that and the fact that they fridged the brother.Shivered and recoiled when that dude started talking about "small town america".
It's already confirmed that you can enable "Chapter breaks" in the game, so you can play the game "episodically" if you want. That's what I do, every LiS game I bought when all the episodes released so now I can finally not have to wait until the last episode about to release to play it.Huge, huge bummer it's not episodic. Was hoping they would keep that going but with a bit more control/management over the schedule with Deck Nine in charge, it fits these games and the discussions you can have about them perfectly.
Would have gone day one but I will wait for a sale instead, because I'm always slow playing these games anyways (partly why I liked them being released in smaller packages so I was done a few days after release of each one) so I know I'll miss the zeitgeist of it regardless.
Other than that, looks great.
She is most prominent in the first episode and then falls into the background for the rest.I played BtS when it was released and really enjoyed it but i just can't remember who Steph is. I know that it's probably not ok but i just don't remember the character at all.
I just want another LiS game with Max and Chloe, is it too much to ask?
That's definitely good, at least! Thanks for the info. Glad they have thought about it a bit, and hopefully some group will play "episodes" on a weekly basis or something so they can chat about it without getting spoiler bombarded. I always liked it being paced out with breaks between episodes so people could discuss, like a TV show but I guess this time they're going for the big Netflix-style dump, in a way it's just reflecting how a lot of people consume their episodic media nowadays. It's already confirmed that you can enable "Chapter breaks" in the game, so you can play the game "episodically" if you want. Well that would be on-brand for Life is Strange.
Yeah, it is. Their story's done.I just want another LiS game with Max and Chloe, is it too much to ask?

What? lolLooks like the engine hasn't been upgraded at all in terms of character models/animation?
Yeah, I don't really remember any character that wasn't in the first game(well besides Rachel). I think there was a small geeky kid with a jock older brother but that's about all I remember.I played BtS when it was released and really enjoyed it but i just can't remember who Steph is. I know that it's probably not ok but i just don't remember the character at all.

I am sorry but Max saving Chloe is the canon ending.Yeah, it is. Their story's done.
The fact that Dontnod (and likely Deck Nine) respect the player choice from the original game means that:Chloe's dead for half the population that played the original game.
Life Is Strange: Dust, Life Is Strange: Waves, Life Is Strange: Strings and Life Is Strange: Partners in Time are volumes of the officially licensed ongoing comic series based on Life is Strange by Titan Comics that was launched on November 14, 2018.[1][2] Originally a four-part miniseries, it is set one year after the events of the original Life is Strange, and is a continuation to the "Sacrifice Arcadia" ending.
It's not anymore though, AAA is $70 now.
the comic is not canon.
That says nothing about any ending being canon. The comics themselves aren't canon.
You didn't play DnD?Yeah, I don't really remember any character that wasn't in the first game(well besides Rachel). I think there was a small geeky kid with a jock older brother but that's about all I remember.
