blog update on the whole shipping thing
https://limitedrungames.com/blogs/news/international-shipping-rates-update

also interesting
We would like to inform you that we are in the early stages of opening an operation in The Netherlands, and it's something we are pretty excited about. Our goal with that is to provide cheaper, faster, and better shipping to Europe (from within Europe). Once this is up and running, we expect to be able to adjust rates down across the board.

Just came here to post the shipping blog update. Also, if you were hit DDU when you should've been DDP and don't have a ticket already opened, please open one so we can take care of you!

Will the games not be more expensive if they will be shipped between european countries because of the sales tax? At the moment i have to pay 15 USD for shipping, yes. But no sales tax because some states in the US does not have a sales tax?

Games from Super Rare games are more expensive for me than from LRG because they have to add the sales tax from the UK.

I believe VGP have a similar set-up in the Netherlands for European orders. Sounds like a great move for EU LRG buyers.

They do not, at least German customs get a hold of all my VGP orders.

That's what I am thinking as well. As much as I welcome this, I could even imagine total prices going up instead of down for us. Shipping within Europe is not cheap.

I wonder why the blind boxes are so backed up this year compared to last year. I mean its mid-February and still as far as I can tell only CE BBs have shipped...

We got through all three types of BB's last year by end of January, I am just surprised thats all.

are the germans more savvy with customs? never been hit with it in the UK and usually our postal service is pretty annoying for customs charges too

I know some others have had stuff slip through German customs, but I almost always have my stuff intercepted by them. They even make me travel 80 miles to their office for a 4$ PS2 import game from Japan, which of course I did not even pick up. :(

If it's sent by a company, there's pretty much zero chance of it slipping through...for example, Play Asia without DDP? Forget it. There is no way in hell they would not intercept and bill me for Super Rare's games next year.

On the other hand, packages by normal folks from the US or Japan do have a chance to get through. My favorite stories are a box with 20 CIB NES games from the US and another absolutely huge package with, I believe, 13 games for various systems and a friggin' FM Towns Marty console, which is not lightweight. They didn't care about either and I received those at my doorstep. But that PS2 game last month, ohhhh no, we can't have that now, can we. ^^

Shipping product is not that easy. As volume grows, it just takes longer to ship.

This is super random, but I still have my cardboard copy, lol.

And you all are thinking too small. Think bigger.

Think unlocalized games.

I had that hope when the Virtual Console started years back, but it didn't pan out too much. We have gotten a few, though.

On that note, I'll take physical prints of SNES Trials of Mana, Genesis Monster World 4, or NES Kid Dracula or the new Kunio-Kun releases.

they'd probably get too much crap from collectors complaining that it's shooting down their value of the game
I think these titles have enough differences to the boxes ( i.e. they are not indistinguishable from the OG release) and the fact that they are "limited" means that collectors might not care, hell they may try to profit more, double/triple up and then sell once LRG is OOO.

Got my Star Wars NES limited edition, spent one week in customs and got hit with ~$35. Combined with shipping to EU this became quite an expensive purchase for me. Box looks good though 😅

What PS1 titles were still being produced?
I'm guessing the FF Greatest hit games that I always seemed to see randomly.
afaik over the years i think it was just various Square games, they're pretty easy to find out tho as newer prints have the usual silver backing now rather than the black one normal games had

Edit: Argh, didn't realize the CE version was also Sega CD and not PC. Might pick up the standard version of the Sega CD release if the eventual PC one has the same CE stuff.

Just noticed the LE too. Super missed opportunity to have a soundtrack cd. Lucasfilm/arts barely ever released any, Loom is the only one I remember that got one in that era.

What I would give to have an MI soundtrack with pc speaker, adlib, mt-32, amiga, vga-cd etc music collected

Agreed. Really disappointing that there is no soundtrack and it's Sega CD only with PC release later. Also they don't have plans to also release the remakes despite including them in the original announcement. Disney probably sucks to work with.

User Banned (3 Days) - Advocating Piracy
I mean, I've got Snatcher on Sega CD but would be happy for it to become more accessible for others.
I disagree that Snatcher should get another print, anybody that wants to play the game can do so with ridiculous ease. There is no guilt in playing a pirated game that costs a months rent, with none of the money going to the dev. Konami doesn't give a flip about making a few thousand dollars selling a couple copies. If they really wanted money they'd release the game digitally, which I wouldn't mind. Releasing a new physical copy today would only be for the purpose of disrupting the collector market.
Also nevermind collectors, as I've been repeatedly telling people over the years that don't want to pirate it. It doesn't cost much to buy the game off eBay, play through it, then relist the game on eBay. All it'd cost to play the game like this is the eBay sales fees. Or even, it's free to play if you can manage to sell the game on Craigslist. Nuking the value would hurt a fair number of non-collectors who simply wanted to play the game.

...huh? I never ever heard this as being a thing for rare games, nor would I ever use that advice. There is no gurantees that you would even get back what you paid as a "rental", and you still need to front the money in the first place.

I am a big supporter of printing more copies for others that want to play/own/enjoy these games. It's a risk if you buy things to purely invest in tangible items anyways, but they made that choice. If someone chpses to make an expensice "rental" off eBay and the game got reprinted? Sorry, but that is a gamble one makes. I can't be upset that someone wasted money in something like that, if a few thousand others get a chance to actually own and play something at an affordable price.

If they're dipping into the entire LucasArts backlog then this has amazing implications!!! Sam and Max: Hit the Road, Outlaws, Herc's Adventures!!!!

If any one has the licensing rights from Konami, they are OBLIGATED to bring Snatcher back in an affordable manner. Snatcher deserves better than being a dirty rom file sitting on your hard disk next to your porn folder. It deserves a place on the shelf!

Regarding Snatcher too, the worst thing is how it, a huge text game, will be on the Turbo Grafix Mini in Japanese... Not everyone is a fan of following translation guides, unless they were expecting people to hack them and insert the translation files? Still, a weird decision.
