Good thread.

Do you guys think the Switch will get many party games? The Wii was great for playing with my family, the Wii U not so much. A new game like Sports Resort would be neat, but I would also like to see some good mini game collections.

Pardon my fast reading, just saw multiplayer and put that in. Its more an online game vs other, not local at home vs someone. You set set up local, but need a second Switch, no splitscreen.

There's also Binding of Isaac.

Oh and Blaster Master 0. Other than that there isn't much more I can think of.

Cool thread. Local multi as in single screen multi? Maybe add some sort of guidance with user feedback? Recommended, OK, not recommended, no feedback yet. I'd contribute. Missing a few games from a glance. Co-op: Wulverblade, Lego Worlds, Moon Hunters, Lichtspeer. PvP: Just Dance, Dragonball

Good idea! You should add Golf Story to the Play vs. Player Games category.

Thanks everyone! I've added the suggested games to the list, and also added the following categories:
Single or co-op Games - The single player games where you optionally can add extra co-op players, like Rayman Legends, Minecraft, etc.
Switch vs. Switch Games - The local vs. mode between two Switch consoles in Splatoon 2, for example.

My recommendations for co-op:
1. Overcooked
1. Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time
3. Snipperclips

PvP:
1. MK8
2. Jackbox 3 (warning: high proficiency of EN language necessary)
3. Bomberman

These were all hits at get togethers.

Great thread. Switch should be a pretty good multiplayer console for the rare times I happen to have friends over. Gonna check out those pvp games.

Nice thread, one of the switch's great hooks for me is the local portable mp, enjoyed Metal Slug X mp a lot. Coop is so fun even if we end up dying so many times, towards the later levels especially.

Nice list.

I love practically all the games in the co-op section (haven't played Super Beat Sports yet). I don't really care co-op that just has you play through the sp content with someone else, it's never really exciting to me, but I absolutely love games that force you to work together and overcome obstacles together. So I hope that first list will grow substantially :D

I feel some of these categories are questionable like if Shovel Knight is single or coop then cave story + should be as well. Namco museum should be switch vs switch since the biggest selling point was pac man vs.

Overall I'm glad this list exists, but it needs a bit of clarity on what each game actually does for multiplayer.

Hey guys I'll be bringing over my thread from the other place sometime today. Is imgur.com working properly now?

Edit: Wait, you NEED multiple copies to play Super Beat Sports multi?

Edit: Wait, you NEED multiple copies to play Super Beat Sports multi?

AFAIK, if you want to play it on multiple Switches? I think only Capcom Museum has a free-to-download app for the Pac-man game. If you play Super Beat Sports on a single Switch, you just play with multiple controllers.

I'll move Cave Story+ to the same category as Shovel Knight.

Namco Museum already is in the Switch vs. Switch list. That specific list isn't exclusive.

Seems like the Switch vs. Switch category currently adds more confusion than it solves. Any tips on making that category a bit more clear?

blaster master is two player? how?

A second player controls an aiming reticle on screen and they can help you take out enemies and drop health/energy/etc. I think it gives you the option when you load up a save. It only works with a single joycon per player, but they might've updated it to work with dual joycons.

thats kind of lame. would rather both have tanks and characters

Thank the lord for this thread. Not seeing anything missing at first glance! It's embarrassing how many of these games I own on Switch because I'm a local multiplayer fiend.

I just added the past week's additions to the OT:

Co-op
Renamed "Snipperclips" to "Snipperclips/Snipperclips Plus"

Single or Co-op
Octodad: Dadliest Catch
Tallowmere
UNO (it doesn't seem to support 1 vs. 1 with human players)

Player vs. Player
Rock'N Racing Off Road DX
Chess Ultra (only split Joy-Cons)

Local Wireless
UNO

Thanks for this thread. Can these games all be played with one joy-con for each player or do some require a proper second controller ?

No, there's no consistency regarding how controllers are supported.

In general, the 3D games that need twin sticks (for example, one stick for movement and one for camera) will not work with a single joy-con. Mario+Rabbids co-op is one such an example.

And some game only support single joy-cons and not pro controller or dual joy-cons. Snipperclips was such an example, until the recent update. Chess Ultra is a current example.

I recommend Wulverblade for co-op. My wife and I have been having a blast playing through it.

That local wireless list is pretty pathetic. That's what I thought would be the most exciting feature of the switch.

Local multiplayer on the same machine is great.. Necessary even. It's just that the majority of those games indie games I've been playing on my laptop and PC for years now. Let them be on switch too, but I hope Nintendo covers their own bases in time, with lots of local play, and local wireless play games.

Since I've never used Local Wireless myself, the current list is mainly based on what I've read. I checked the eShop for some of the other games now, and added these games as well to the list of games that support Local Wireless:

ARMS
Fast RMX
FIFA 18
Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition
NBA 2K18
Pokken Tournament DX
Puyo Puyo Tetris

It's almost out but can we just stick Rocket League on coop and player vs player and the super duper recommended list?

How is the overcooked port? I read during launch it had framerate problems.

Rouge Trooper made me laugh. =P
Pretty sure we can add Puyo Puyo Tetris to the highly recommended VS list. It's a blast. It also supports teams in the VS modes so can be coop too!

blaster master is two player? how?
On top of the "P2 is a reticle" mode there is also a 2P boss rush mode introduced with the 1.4 update with 2 actual characters on screen. That includes the DLC characters too.
Hopefully they update again to include 2P in the campaign too.

Yeah was gonna say Rocket League can be added too. Looking forward to dig into this and improve tomorrow.

I haven't noticed that but the menus suck.

Oh my god yes. My mates and I had a lot of fun playing the PC version hooked up to a TV just this past weekend. It's great, way better with someone watching.

Yes actually I have more fun just watching and participating than controlling the game. Is like watching LA Confidential

Thanks
