Well I'm now super convinced they didn't talk about the investigation at this lunch I definitely knew about

So, lemme guess - Republicans are all throwing softball (or not even asking) questions, and Barr is not answering actual questions from Dems?

Graham opened the proceedings by asking Barr a series of rapid fire questions designed specifically to make a witness appear honest, credible and reliable. It's the method used by defense lawyers to protect their client and undermine subsequent attempts to cross examine by establishing that the client already answered fully and confidently.

The problem with that is that Barr is the AG. Not an old lady who ploughed into a farmers market when she panicked and hit the gas instead of the brakes.

Graham is not barr's Defense lawyer and he has no business helping Barr create a massive obstruction of justice on the president's behalf. Graham also started by asserting a number of falsehoods as "fact" including the original client for the Steele Dossier (it was a gop client) and the false claim that the Steele Dossier is debunked(it isn't).

And that was the most intellectually honest republican moment of the entire proceeding. They're done with even the pretense of working for Americans. They work for the Trump GOP. That's it.

At least we know Graham is being blackmailed by his own party now though. Maybe the dirt was provided by Russia but his republican colleagues are the ones who forced him to make a complete mockery of his carefully curated image.

The fact that he is so damn smart and quick with so many answers, but when he is asked something that he knows he did wrong, he acts like he has no idea what is going on.

This questioning process is such bs

We have the process to expose bullshit. Dems need to react to the process after it's done not when it's being done. If dems go partisan during the process all those fox news viewers and moderates will just think it's dems in the wrong. I'm fairly sure some in the senate would love to go rough but because of bullshit optics issues they have to remain civil.

I thought he didn't see the evidence, but now he says the evidence is conflicted

I have an actual question.

Why is it that all these important committee meetings with key people are so short and people have such a short amount of time to speak and ask questions, but Clinton had to deal with 11 hours of hearings on a single day for Benghazi?

Is it simply because the Senate is GOP controlled and they can dictate the pace/amount of time?

Rules are set by the committee so they're sometimes nicer to certain people for reasons that are totally impossible to figure out

I've only seen bits and pieces. Did anyone bring up Trump being the unindicted co-conspirator in the Stormy pay-off? I recall Cohen complaining a few days ago that it was the two of them who did it, and he wasn't even the one who fucked the porn star, yet he's the only one going to jail. Or is that outside the scope of this session?

Btw, interesting to note the AG doesn't think it's obstructing for a Pres to offer pardons to people so they don't cooperate with an investigation, and threaten people who do cooperate.

"What's with the letter" probably he thought you would be hurrying everything like the corrupt AG you are.

England m8.
I guess when he was hired late into the Trump admin, it was for one main reason.

Trump's always wanted everyone in Government to bat for him whatever comes.

I doubt anyone wants to touch the Stormy thing with a ten foot pole after Avanetti's arrest. (Was he officially arrested?)
