ah yes, and also its not all of them its the hardcore fanbase which has been a problem for most clubs, a lot of clubs are slowly starting to remove these people, but it takes time since they are dangerous and can even attack club members

I take back what I said above, or at least I want to clarify that I do not believe that that thug and his mates represent all Liverpool fans. Obviously that isn't the case and I'm glad LFC have condemned him. I do believe that it is becoming increasingly a pattern though with English fans and their behaviour in the CL, Liverpool are just unfortunate that this and their fans attacking the City team bus last year reflect poorly on them specifically as 2 of the more high profile examples of football fans' terrible behaviour at times.

There are genuine problems with football being a sport where angry men go to spread their shit, but there is a line between banter and generalizations. This sort of shit in football gets stamped out when fans of teams come together to condone it, not weaponize it because "I don't support this team".
First of all, I condemn the actions of people who behave badly on away trips like this. But I don't think those Manchester United fans will be crying exactly when their archrivals Liverpool lose.

A load of reasons. Combine tribalism and alcohol with it being a ‘working mans sport’ and you get a bad time. English football fans seem to have a toxic ‘for the lads’ mindset when they go abroad.

Years ago I went drinking across Europe and I wasn't even following any team, I just like to drink on baloney cafes and I incidentally watched them do so many insane things, bottle fights, bottle fights between buses like capital ships squaring off with everybody inside of each bus lobbing bottles at the other bus, bottle fights contained completely within a singular bus, fighting cops, driving Italian cops past the point of sanity where they just ran around screaming and hitting everybody they saw with billy clubs, hitting each other with car antennae, trash fights, trash can fights, trash and trash can fights with cops, what appeared to be an organized mass spitting, dueling jason vorhees (I think), stealing deployed teargas canisters as souvenirs, fighting over stolen teargas canisters while they're still hot, and so much more drunken stupidity.
And at the games themselves, personal space does not appear to exist and I kept hearing children screaming for help, but I never saw any.
