funny how this stuff slowly dissolves out of daily life. in 2005 i would spend hours on AIM and get 'lulz' out of YMNTD nonsense but i can't pinpoint where any of that ended

I live in a giant bucket.
I can't even remember the last time I went there, but I'm sorry to see it go -- tons of fond memories and ancient memes lost forever. It may've been too outdated by today's standards, but there was no shortage of creativity. (Too many to name, but a Mario 64 one with Mario running into memes on Bob-omb Battlefield springs to mind.)

I do remember being turned off by the gross surprise porn, though; actually, I think maybe running into something Kirby-related (christ, why) may've turned me off it for good.

This was my go to website for a quick laugh. I would just scan what had been uploaded and bust out laughing at the stupidity I'd find in less than a few minutes. There was also some absolutely amazingly well made stuff that was really fucking cool and clever. Some of the best stuff was just riffing on inside jokes or mashing up common fads.

I am sorry to see this one go. Strange that they just disappeared without an announcement or a goodbye.

I know there's a spiritual successor-site out there that follows the same general format of Image/GIF with looping-sound and optional text, but I can't remember it's name at all. Which is frustrating because I know I went on it a month ago.

Anyone know what it's called? All I know is that it's not owned by Facebook/Google for starters and it works in Media tags on various forums (Here included IIRC.)

The internet always had racists and sexists but mid/late 2000s had a lot of popular "innocent" memes, even out of places like SA or 4chan. Remember when they rigged some contest so the initials of the winners spelled "MARBLE CAKES ALSO THE GAME", with moot being #1. So stupid yet so funny.

Oh noooo! This is legitimately upsetting.

It's strange, I hadn't really thought of this site in a long time, yet I used to spend hours at a time on it back in its heyday. I'll miss it for sure.

It's increasingly hard to tell, what with Flash in the process of dying out, but I believe that somehow, zombo.com still lives.
