Challenger Decks 2020 | MAGIC: THE GATHERING

New Challenger Decks are coming April 3. Get a look at what each deck will contain here.

    April Challenger Decks announced

Jeskai Fires of Invention with 4x Fires, 4x Narset, 1x Kenrith

Golgari Adventure with 4x Lovestruck Beast, 4x Innkeeper, 1x Fabled Passage

Monored Cavalcade with 4x Cavalcade, 1x Embercleave

Simic Flash with 4x Nightpack Ambusher, 1x Brazen Borrower, 1x Fabled Passage

    Current value of Challenger Decks:
    Jeskai Fires: $75

Seems like an increase over last year, when only one deck was worth more than $75.

Introducing Jumpstart: A New Way to Play Magic | MAGIC: THE GATHERING

Jumpstart is an innovative play experience that draws on the best parts of Limited and Constructed Magic.

Jumpstart is a new booster product with 20 cards that all work together with a single theme, ex: Goblins, Garruk, Doctor. You take two booster packs and put them together into a 40-card deck.

    Copypasting:
    • Each booster contains 20 cards centered on a theme. What theme each booster contains is randomized, but each themed 20 cards will be sealed inside the pack and labled.
    • One in three boosters includes an extra rare.
    • It's loaded with reprints—almost 500!
    • Jumpstart introduces 37 new cards to the game. These will not be Standard-, Pioneer-, or Modern-legal cards. They are legal in Legacy, Vintage, and Commander.
    • It's closely tied to Core Set 2021—they share a lot of content and release near one another—but Jumpstart is a stand-alone product.
    • All cards are legal in Eternal formats (Legacy, Vintage, and Commander)
    • Every pack includes one basic land with art that matches the pack's theme. A few of them use thematically appropriate lands from M21, but most of them use brand-new themed land art created for Jumpstart.
And because Prereleases are fun, we're going to be holding a Prerelease for Jumpstart June 20-21! Check with your local stores to see if you can sign up for a Jumpstart event.

We also plan to bring this fun play experience to MTG Arena sometime this year!

Like Jumpstart itself, Prereleases for this product are going to be a little bit different.

Jumpstart Prereleases will be run all day. Each player will get two Jumpstart boosters to create a deck and then they just—play. Play enough matches, get a promo card. And if you want to jump back in? Hey, go right ahead. You may even earn another promo.

    End copypaste

Stream confirmed that while this is coming to Arena, this is NOT coming to MTGO.

And we have names for the Ikoria-themed Commander 2020 decks

Well, people were asking for the Secret Lairs to be LGS exclusives instead...

Plus $33 per fetch for alternate art versions isn't an unreasonable price, I'd say.

    Another announcement
    magic.wizards.com

Announcing Signature Spellbook: Chandra | MAGIC: THE GATHERING

Signature Spellbook: Chandra is a collection of eights cards for your inner pyromancer.

With Chandra's signature flare and a style that evokes the best the fiery Planeswalker has to offer, Signature Spellbook: Chandra boasts a collection of powerful red spells featuring Magic's favorite flame-haired torch of defiance. And you can only get your copy at your local game store!

Each Signature Spellbook: Chandra comes with eight cards plus one premium foil version of one of those eight cards at random. It's the ideal way to show your love of Chandra, stylize your Commander deck, or just help the world burn—in a good way.

As a special treat, here's a sneak peek at two of the cards that you'll find in Signature Spellbook: Chandra.

I know that people expected that when they made a Chandra spellbook, they'd use Lorwyn Chandra, so this is already a big improvement.

    Maro’s Ikoria Teaser

Previews for Ikoria: Lair of the Behemoths don’t start until April 2, but I’ve been getting a lot of requests from people cooped up at home that are eager for any content, so I decided to do something...

The following can be found in Ikoria:

    • Magic's seventh Egg

    • A card with the text "four or more times this game"

    • A card with the text "total power 10 or less"

    • Magic's largest power/toughness granting aura.

    • A card with the text "X is the number of times this creature has mutated"

    • Magic's third and fourth card with "(Zero is even.)" reminder text.

    • Three cards with the text "different name(s)"

    • Twelve different types of counters

    • A card that says "choose a kind of counter at random"

    • A card with the text "remove eight foreshadow counters"

    • And a cycle that players have been asking us to make for over ten years

In addition, Ikoria has creatures with the following creature types:

    • Dinosaur Turtle

    • Shark Beast

    • Demon Kraken

    • Elemental Otter

    • Brushwagg

    • Hellion Horror

    • and a Nightmare Squirrel (Yes, a Squirrel in a Standard-legal set!)

Wizards of the Coast Presents: After Great Deliberation, We Have Compiled and Remastered the Greatest Magic: The Gathering Cards of All Time, Ever | MAGIC: THE GATHERING

Everyone has their favorite Magic cards—however, all of you are wrong, as there can be only one correct list of the greatest Magic cards.

So there was supposed to be an April Fools Secret Lair Drop now, but due to COVID-19, they can't print it. Once they're able to, it will be given to LGSes for free for them to handle as they wish. It's confirmed these are real, but they aren't available yet.
