I've been struggling with Ixalan draft, but I think I'm finally starting to get a feel for it. Went 3-0 with BW Vampires last night. At least two other people in my pod were drafting vampires, so my deck was a little weird, but prioritizing small creatures and 1 mana combat tricks helped a lot. Vampire's Zeal and Skullduggery both won me games.
I recently pulled a foil Torrential Gearhulk and Fatal Push from prize packs and am thinking about trading those in to build a Mardu Vehicles deck. I'm a pretty new player and don't participate in anything more competitive than FNM/Standard Showdown, so I think it'll work out pretty well. This deck is my main source of inspiration, though I am obviously making some changes.
I was playing Mono-White Sunmare deck and did pretty well with it (came in 2nd on Game Day), but I haven't been able to make it work post-rotation. Thought about doing an Abzan Tokens Sunmare deck, but I worry it'd be a mess to play with paper cards!
Why? Mostly everyone that plays magic plays both limited and constructed.
When you are new limited is the easiest to get into. After a few months of limited you should have a good idea of what you like to play and have a nice collection to love into constructed.

IME, constructed as a term of art (building decks for optimization over whatever else) does tend to attract people who come of as, well, nuts to casual or new players.
Like this dude in highschool who had a Storm deck while the rest of us were playing with whatever we found in packs and the bargain bin at the lgs lol.
