So in Cyberpunk, casual sex in a game with a dude is okay for you in a game but not for a lady, OP? Yiiiikes.

Also, the sex isn't designed to make them look "baddass" as much as that it probably says a lot about the culture, environment and lifestyle choice that character lives by.

And:
Maybe I saw Ellie as my daughter and now she was kissing some character (which we know not much about yet) who has an ex boyfriend standing there watching them.
I read this over and over and I can't make sense of it lol. Maybe you should do a self-analysis of your comfortably about the subject of sex, OP. That's what I got from your post.

If i catch my gaming waifu having intercourse with another character, i would lose my motivation to protect her which would end by me dropping the game altogether, and blacklisting every developer that would choose to insult me as a gamer like that.

I think a female character needs the same sexual agency as a male character. A normal intimate relationship between a female PC and a male NPC seems only slightly less threatening to "gamerz" as a male gay relationship (and we should have those too). I remember not long after playing HZD wondering why Aloy couldn't have a physically intimate relationship with one of the NPCs, especially given that games of this type with a male PC usually have some sexual exploits. I got a bunch of handwaving responses saying Aloy didn't need all that or she was "too busy saving the world to have sex" which was fucking laughable. For a good majority of the game, Aloy is NOT saving the world, she's trying to track down either a person, articfact, or ruins, plenty of time for her to bone if she wanted.
I don't know, female sexual agency is terrifying for a lot of people, unless its girl on girl, then its HAWT or something.

...the knowledge that some women have sex and enjoy it is weird to you? perhaps you have something in common with OP
I think he avatar quoted you as a harmless joke and then what he wrote was a reply to OP, not to you. It did give the impression that he was talking to you, but I don't think so.

You should play Kassandra in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I love her classic Greek sexual liberalness. Probably one of my favorite parts in the game is having her flirt with everything that moves. Don't know why but I find it really endearing to have a philandering woman for once where it's played not as a weird fetishistic thing.

This is the one case that actually annoyed me. No buildup for their relationship and we just are supposed to accept that's Haruka's baby. I spent half the game thinking surely it was someone else's baby, and couldn't figure out why everyone just accepted the baby as Haruka's. In the end I was okay with their relationship, but it really threw me for a loop. I would have liked to see more of their interactions that led to their relationship blossoming.

She felt lonely, he felt horny, bam, Haruto. Story as old as the world itself. It was most certainly slightly weird for me as a lifelong fan watching Haruka develop continuously from child to teenager but I didn't for a second doubt it's her baby.

Jesus Christ OP.....I don't know what to say about this shit. You seem to have some really oddly possessive and antiquated views towards the opposite sex. Some therapy may be in order.

In The Last of Us we all know how Ellie feels towards Riley. They kiss each other in the DLC which I think is suitable for characters.
They like each other and it's a kiss, but when Ellie was kissing in the Last of Us: Part 2 trailer it felt awkward. Maybe I saw Ellie as my daughter and now she was kissing some character (which we know not much about yet) who has an ex boyfriend standing there watching them.

Uh... I fail to see the problem here, characters having agency and vague motives (especially for just a trailer) isn't exactly a bad thing

It's pretty clear that's probably Ellie's girlfriend, but you can kiss people without being in a relationship first regardless.

I believe you need a bit of self-reflection.

Yeah I came around on it. I was more surprised by the lack of questioning done by Kiryu and co. They just kinda accepted it as the truth. I felt kind of a fatherly bond with Haruka having seen her grow up, so I personally had some disbelief going into it I didn't feel the game dispel or justify for a large part of it. But in the end I love the story Y6, and definitely wouldn't change it.

Yup, even when a character is female, most people will still use it as an avatar for themselves in some capacity.

"I'm not gay, why's this game making me gay?!"
It's okay to have a game not have a player-created character... when that pre-made character looks and acts like the one you were going to create and roleplay as anyways?

I tried to read the original OP without jumping to conclusions... but

O.P. what if it was a male protagonist having sex with another MALE?!? (NOT THAT I CARE BUT JUST INTERESTED IN THE OP's OPINION)

Interestingly enough, it's not something that I've thought about. I don't really see any lead female characters have heterosexual relationships, so I've never had an opportunity to feel awkward.

Wait...

I GUESS my female lead in Saints Row 4 had hooked up with several of the males in her crew. However, she also shagged a few chicks in the crew too, so.... eh? It was all in that Saints Row kind of corny cut scenes, so the sexiness of it is thrown off by the comedic situation.

I can't think of any games that truely explore female sexuality in any meaningful way, which is such a shame because it could foster empathy within male gamers. If they started now, I'm certain there would be backlash in the gaming community, but like most representation issues, it just needs to be more frequent and the outcry will die down.

Edit: I'm not referring to just rpgs where the PC is a blank slate and they can Fuck anyone. Like a truely developed female lead.

If the devs can't force the woman character to kiss a dude in the same way god of war and other games can force the player to have straight relationships than we still have a problem.

Everyone kicked off a fuck storm when Ubisoft forced the female protagonist to have a child forcing her to be straight, please could everyone make up their minds what they want.

I'm not getting baited into this nonsense any further

I can't imagine anybody I'd trust less to respectfully portray a healthy sexual relationship than video game producers.

Women, like men, have romantic relationships. Women, like men, fuck. Women, like men, are individuals and shouldn't be lumped together haphazardly based on your hang-ups. Female characters, like male characters, can be and should be represented however the fuck their characterization requires.

This is a weird thread. I feel weird.

Ugh, i hate this so much, when I heard most players played Alexios in ACO, I was floored. Whats up with people wanting to play themselves? Fuck that.
Honestly, it's not something I've thought extremely hard about. 1st playthroughs of games with a choice for me will just be my specific gender to help with immersion. However, I've still enjoyed games with female protags as well.

You don't think there's a difference between a female character having a canon straight love interest, and a straight love interest suddenly forced onto a character who you could play as 100% gay for the entirety of the game?

Ubisoft did something wrong because they STARTED giving you options and then took it away.

Games like God of War, Breath of the Wild or Last of Us 1 does not give you options whatever Kratos, Link or Joel are straight. This is what I am talking about.

Uh, it's not complicated. AC Odyssey was supposed to be about player choice, the person you're quoting is talking about a pre-set protagonist.

Oh purlease, Ubisoft advertised Oddessey as a game where you can set your protags sexuality, that was why there was a backlash. It's not the same issue.
Game devs won't make a set straight female protag where she kisses a male, let alone has sex with one. There's tons of games which have a set male protag with a female love interest. It's not unreasonable to ask for stories in games explaining a straight women's point of view.

As far as jrpgs go Xenosaga episode 1 comes to mind with Shion and Kevin's relationship. But it isn't front and center and largely takes a backseat to the major events.

People like sex. So I mean, I expect main characters to also like sex.

Unless you're in a Capcom game. They don't know what sex is.

The fuck did I just read OP?

I challenge you to reread your post several times. Word for word. And then try expressing why you think you feel the way you do about female characters but not male ones.

To say someone wouldn't or shouldnt dress a certain way because of their personality is slut shaming in my book
I think that's nuts.

By that logic, nothing is sexist design because you can't judge a character for how they look. It's excusing poor, gross designs because you want to see boobs.

Well the difference is that prior to DLC you were free to fuck whomever you wanted and it's a pretty big jump from going let's say purely Lesbian/Gay Cassandra/Alexios to forced straight.

It would be cool of course, but most "gamers" aren't mature enough

It would be a shitshow. Gamergate showed us how far we are from the ideal.

See the reactions to Ellie having a romantic partner in TLoU 2

We will get there, eventualy. Slowly and steady.
