A powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Alaska Friday, triggering a tsunami warning near Anchorage, according to
U.S. Geological Survey and the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The quake happened about 7.5 miles north of the city, according to USGS reports.
No immediate damage or injuries have been reported, though the Alaska Department of Transportation announced that they are actively inspecting reports of damaged infrastructure in the Anchorage area caused by the earthquake.
