It's an anonymous image board. 8chan in particular is where gamer gate found its footing. It's notorious for hosting extremists and other vile content, like child porn.

I am gutted that the initial reports I was seeing were correct and the body count has risen dramatically like it has. I had been hoping it was some of the usual misinformation that happens immediately following these types of things.

Shooter put a burst into his chest at close range, then a couple more in the scramble, then recovered and put at least one more shot into the guy on the floor.
People have survived worse I suppose, but I'm not holding out hope for him.
I respect the guy for trying. I imagine a lot of people like to imagine they'd attempt something similar in that sort of situation, but this bloke really did.

Thank you. 49 of my countrymen and women were murdered today and people just want to talk about internet celebrities. Yes I know that internet radicalisation has a big part to play in this terrorist attack but right now there are hundreds of people who lost a lost a loved one, there are dozens of people in hospital bleeding from gunshot wounds and people here are afraid and grieving and angry and need comfort. YouTubers are the last fucking thing I'm thinking about right now.
There was a high school climate march today, and the Pride festival opens tomorrow. It was shaping up to be a great weekend to be a Kiwi and now mosques have been advised to lock their doors during prayer, and several Pride events have been cancelled after public safety concerns. This is what hate creates. It crushes diversity and freedom.
I have the same uneasy feeling I had on 9/11. Like my world had been turned upside down. That the world is going to be different from now on, but not in a better way.
Kind of at a loss for what to even say. I don't know how you can even begin to justify doing something so senseless, so horrible, and so cruel. I hope the victims and their families can find some semblance peace and I hope against hope that this is the last attack of its kind.

Can we stop mentioning that video or your reaction to it ? You went out of your way to watch a video of a shooting spree, what did you expect ?
No. He tried and came close but the shooter turned on him just in time. That many AR rounds to the chest... hard to survive even with immediate top-notch medical care. That's why the wounded tally is being converted into dead. There isn't a lot you can do to 'fix' a wound from these types of rifles.
I would much rather hear his name than the killers.

Unfortunetley Norway also has a role to play here since the shooter cited Breivik in his twisted manifesto and even shared Breiviks manifesto as inspiration.
Norwegian security services are now looking in if Brevik have had any contact with the shooter.
