Really sad to see that the rumors were true. Jesus.

What I find really disturbing is that apparently there are multiple shooters connected to this. What in the world. Is that still the case?

They are semi automatic rifles, not true machine guns (the U.S. govt. term for full autos).
True, though I doubt it made a difference in this case. The gunmman bragged that it was so easy he "didn't even have time to aim."

Also, he says he was most influenced by Candace Owens, of all people. What bizarre creatures.

Wow this is really fucked up. First I've personally heard of this happening in NZ. And to hear that 8 chan is implicated, with a connection to PewDiePie...whoo boy.

Sad. Makes you wonder about what the fuck is wrong with humanity.

Easy to dismiss gun violence and hate crime when its other side of the world. A bit tougher when it's in my own backyard. I'm kinda scared to go back to synagogue. I want to live a long life. :/

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
To Allah we belong, and to Allah we shall return.

I hope the bastard who did this never gets to see the light of day ever again. Fuck all the "influencers" who encouraged this with their toxic hate.

Does anyone know if the police presence at Islamic sites and businesses in the US today is gonna be a common theme? Or is whats going on here in Texas the exception?

I have to imagine there will be increased security everywhere right?
Here in Canada, one of my local mosques has had security guards since the Quebec shooting. My Imam pretty much said that these sort of precautions are necessary these days with the ridiculous amount of hateful anti-muslim crap being spouted everywhere.

This is horrible thing to wake up on, I pray for the victims and may Allah grant them his eternal paradise.

I saw something terrible in 8chan now after doing some exploring out of curiosity because its the first time I heard about this site, it's someone saying that he's planning to blow up the sky tower in Auckland, I took a screenshot but I don't know how to upload a photo here by phone, but this 8chan shit needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.

It's not enough to crackdown these sites, they're just gonna spread out under another name. Instead all those who are engaging in these forums should be prosecuted for spreading hate speech. I don't even fucking care, something needs to be done against this alt-right Internet meme culture. It's honestly brainwashing millions of stupid little impressionable kids. And yes, guys like Pewdiepie are definitely partly responsible for attacks like this. Fuck that pos. Watch him Upload a fucking apology video with his fucking crocodile tears, gain millions of views and then go back to invite other pieces of shits like Shapiro to his show

The PewDiePie brigading on Twitter right now is disgusting. People care more about his reputation than they do about the victims.

This is what I asked when I''ve 1st learned about 8chan, as well. Not sure how a site like this can exist on the non-Dark Web internet. How is Law Enforcement not going after these sites, especially when they are hosting child porn and other inhuman things?

They aren't actually doing anything illegal and 4chan has a record of complying with law enforcement (see: email hacking scandal). I don't really feel like going out of my way to defend either site but they only 'host' child pornography in the sense that their users post it and it's moderated fairly swiftly. That's no more or less than what reddit deals with, in purely legal terms. Most of the rest of the stuff exists in a grey area.

His fans just went from defacing Holocaust memorials to mass murder. You bet your arse he's being held accountable. He needs to get ahead of this and post a video explicitly denouncing acts like this.

If he's extradited back to Australia (which he probably will be) he'll be buried by the courts.

I wonder if this will be New Zealand's Port Arthur moment.

Already have my answer from safe videos. Mostly was wondering if he willfully surrendered to authorities without attacking them which is a yes.

Why am i not suprised that he surrendered most of these cowards love to gloat how they are willing to fight and die in a blaze of glory for their cause, but when push comes to shove they chicken out like the little manchilderen that they are.

My condolences to the victims and their families.

Absolutely horrible act. The community there may never fully recover after losing that many lives to the bloodshed.

To the people watching the video:

Stop.

Unbelievably horrific news. All the best to victims and their families. I hope they manage to dig into the person or people who did this.

While everything seems absolutely fucked and hatred does appear to be everywhere, remember that when you look at the actual hard numbers, violence and crime and death and basically everything bad has been in decline for decades because we're always improving society (even if telecoms and the internet certainly doesn't make it feel like it)
Yeah but it almost seems like we traded a decline for these horrible spikes.

That is very hard to believe, based on what was posted in the THQ/8chan thread and what I've read online about it.

I highly doubt he is getting out of prison alive.
The irony is that ScoMo has been exporting criminals out of Au back to their home country, if he ever gets released from Jail (that i doubt he will) would love NZ to ship him right back to Au.

They're still a platform for that shit. It's a tool that sick people can use to communicate and interact with other like-minded sick people. That alone you would think is reason enough to snuff it from existence.

Hey man, never let these bastards take you away from your religion.
I guarantee the Muslims will go to Friday prayer next week, as we always do. We can't give in to these terrorists.
And I understand the fear as I've had the thought pop up in my mind several times throughout the years.
Don't let them take this away from you.

There's a pathetic few that want to see the world immersed in another situation akin to the 1930s/1940s, but they don't realize that they will fold in half if we ever get to that point. Sadly, I'm desensitized to the initial scenes of violence. I haven't seen anything like what people are suggesting in the video in real life, but I'm angry at myself that I have grown so numb to the loss of life, considering my mind can only replay the gruesome scenes I've witnessed in real life, which will be considered minuscule in comparison.

At the same time, despite being a relatively non-violent person, I find myself wanting to bring hell to those posting on 8chan and other hate-based message boards. Regardless of race, nationality, ethnicity, I have my guard up because I never know what types of people can be radicalized and will drag me down due to the simple act of association. If I ever came across someone I know planning something like this, I'm not sure if I would be able to handle myself.

For those who have seen the video (I have not), please, go seek counseling. PTSD exists in many forms, even if you see something on the internet. And don't be afraid to talk about it to a counselor, etc. Otherwise it will eat you up from the inside.

These sites (and their members) should be treated just like ISIS forums (and their members) are. There are no safe harbor provisions for terrorist recruitment sites.

This is horrendous, feel so sorry for all the lives lost.

If he is indeed Australian, how does the gun laws work in NZ / AUS where he could legally obtain weapons if he is not NZ citizen?

Well thats comforting at least.

For example, Martin Bryant killed 35 people in the mid 90s, Port Arthur massacre, and is serving 35 life sentences without parole. Nobody is going through our courts having methodically, systematically planned and executed the murder of this many people and walking out of prison here.

I can't describe how awful this attack is and how inhuman someone has to be in order to conduct such an attack.

I can only extend my sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones and hope that lessons can be learned from this to help prevent such a thing happening again.

I'm not sure how the citizenship laws factor into legalities, but New Zealand has significantly less strict gun laws than Australia. Here gun laws are tight as fuck, implemented after the aforementioned Port Arthur massacre. Unless you knew where to look and had the volume of money to splash, acquiring an AR-15 in Australia would not be easy. Let alone getting it overseas.

New Zealand is another matter entirely. From memory, the police issue firearm licenses to citizens in New Zealand, on the condition they meet extremely basic "good standing" tests. None of this includes a psyche or thorough history examination.

It's also entirely possible he acquired them illegally. If it's true he made a good bit of money in investments, and had Bitcoin to back it up, he could procure firearms on darkweb marketplaces. The usual method is weapons are purchased and shipped in pieces to various addresses in the country of target to try and throw off customs.
