Sorry for the double post but it seems so odd to me that child porongraphy and what not gets you only a slap on the wrist over there but getting caught with drugs gets you sent to the damn shadow realm.

I'm not very knowledgeable on Japanese laws but I would assume so from the articles I've read. Though I am generalizing as I've only read a handful of articles but it appears that getting caught with child porn isn't nearly as harshly dealt with as getting caught with drugs. And I wasn't aware of the whole ring speculation thing either, I hope it's not true would be terrible if it was.

As soon as that ended Shueshia went right back to employing him and sure enough he became more successful after the fact. Guess it pays to be best buds with Oda (One Piece author) who apparently has no qualms shilling for his pedophile friend. Whole situation is a joke.
It just isn't right man dude should have been put in jail and stayed there. And Oda is a good guy, as far as I'm aware, so to see him be friendly with this kind of a person is just very disappointing and honestly kind of depressing. Feel like this will impact my enjoyment of One Piece now knowing Oda is friends with a pedo.
I know Oda worked under Watsuki as an assistant, but where are you getting this shilling for him from out of curiousity?

So I decided to read through some of the chapters of this manga after seeing the anime preview for it. I'll say that a far as isekai go this was decent. From what I saw there was no creepy fan service moments between the mother and son thankfully. And while it's not the worst I've seen when it comes to fan service it was still annoying. Cause I swear the manga tries it's hardest to show off the mother's clevage as much as it possible can and that bugged me quickly. The mother and son relationship is okay and it got a few laughs out of me as did some of the other jokes. And I do like how the mother is the one who's super op and not the son. Dunno if I'll bother continue reading this or watching the anime but it was okay overall.

Still there has to be a tiny bit of backstory to explain his obsession with baddies that he was doing at the start of the chapter.

Very emotional and relatable backstory of going through that lose a mom experience in school and your classmates act both ways. Everyone in that situation needs a shigeo. Wish I had one.
Looking forward to what materializes and ultimately how the antagonists settled upon that training camp of all places to make a move.

Drug laws exists for decades already, child porn was only banned in 1999 and in 2004 a loophole was corrected and the effective possession was prohibited in 2014. The fact that it's viewed differently comes to this, and there's also the case where the punishment isn't that harsh compared to here.
About Shimabukuro, he probably was making use of "JK business" which pretty much happens in Japan with teenage girls basically doing prostitution to get more money. When you see it in manga, it isn't some invention, it does happens in reality. In many and many cases it's by their own without no third party but there's also cases where the girls are there because of other people.
To be fair, unlike with Watsuki, his current series at the time was cancelled when the incident happened and he came back after his sentence was suspended.

Christ I didn't realize that they only started banning that stuff not so long ago. I know it isn't recent exactly but that's much earlier than I thought it would be. Guess it explains why the law over there seem so much more harsh with drugs than child porn.
I'm looking for more jump+ manga coming to mangaplus. There's so many interesting manga there which I wish I could read them but I don't know japanese. I hope more that are already there comes to the app.
Yeah, it's definitely one of the reasons for such discrepancy. It'll take some decades for that to change, I think, both with the law being more harsher and how society views it.

I'm on the verge of dropping this it's just been so bland and unfunny so far. And it doesn't help that I still don't care for any of the characters, especially Kiito. I feel like I'd enjoy the series somewhat more if it just focused on the antics of the two main girls.

This continues to be the only new manga series from Jump that retains my interest, and it was another good chapter.

Jujutsu Kaisen: These other villains aren't as interesting as tree guy, so I don't mind them getting wrecked.

My Hero Academia: I hope this arc does something to make Shiggy more interesting.

Man, Tezuka's Phoenix can be so, so good. ESPECIALLY when it's stuff in the future. Just finished the Space/Life volume and it was just... really fantastic. (Which is kind of funny as it's coming off the two volume "Turbulent times" one which is the one part of it that I've read that I'd call straight up weak. Felt way too bogged down, just going through various historical events/characters and crap rather than actually doing interesting stuff with them. It's the only part of Phoenix I'd call a drag rather than a masterpiece, though, so whatever.)
