There was a noticeable amount of typos and some clunky dialogue in the chapters I read but I'll take it. Hopefully it's a result of heavy workload preparing for the launch of the new site.

I'm not sure it'll come to that. I'd prefer it if it didn't. She very much wants him to not get too hurt, I think it's just going to come down to him getting the go ahead from his mom. That seems to be the major thing.
She doesn't want Ippo to get hurt, but it's still selfish. She's putting her own happiness before his and it's clearly going to eat away at the both of them.
She's trying to convince Ippo(and probably herself) that he has brain damage in order to make him give up on his dream, which she was never happy with in the first place.
I don't know that she's being selfish though or that this is what is happening. Ippo clearly made the choice on his own. She didn't push him into it or anything. I think she's getting a bit of a bad rap.

Yeah but I don't think it will as big as a hurdle as convincing Kumi; I think Ippo's mom knows he's forcing himself not to go back to the ring. I agree Kumi's not coming from a bad place with her wanting Ippo not to return to the ring but I definitely see herself putting her foot down in some regard.
I think she'll try and get him not to do it, but at the same time she's not the one keeping him out. She's the one making sure he's not forced to go back in. To be real, I think there's kind of a bait and switch going on and this is how they finally come out with the whole "I love you" thing.
I think this chapter showed the real reason Ippo stopped boxing though: he was worried about his mom's health and used this as an excuse. He's been threatening to quit for this same reason for a while now, it's why Itagaki started working on the boat all those chapters ago.
I think that unless he's told it's OK to go back that he might not do it. There's gotta be someone there to help his mom when he can't otherwise this will always be hanging over his head. This is probably what's stopping him from crossing that line Takamura drew in the dirt.

Yes, its greatly read, most only comment on chp release days since it gets chapters every 2-3 weeks or so. jump plus+ random schedules.
Viz never licensed it, which is why it's not available on their app.
Just seems weird because they are continuing all of their aborted "Jump Starts" though maybe there's a license included in that. I mean their app is called Shonen Jump... isn't this the first simultranslated WSJ title that they don't have?
The only ongoing titles they don't have are Zumou, Yuuna (Which is harcore ecchi and licensed by Seven Seas) and the two comedy series I'm From Japan and Teenage Renaissance David.
I get the feeling that Viz never licensed it because they felt there wasn't enough interest for it, among their usual reader base. Considering how sports series generally weren't selling that well for them until very recently (Haikyuu and Kuroko are apparently doing quite well over here) I can understand their hesitance to license it.
